Hello all. It’s been 2 years since my last post. I wanted to restart this journal as I have gained nearly 20 pounds and now weigh 143. It has helped a lot over the years to log my food and exercise here, so here I am again. My goal is to lose one pound a week.

Breakfast: Half can chili (Amy’s brand) with onions, garlic, spinach, green pepper sautéed in olive oil. One slice cheese. Grapefruit. Decaf coffee with milk.
Snack: Decaf with milk; protein drink
Lunch: Two pieces string cheese; crackers with peanut butter
Snack: Popcorn popped in olive oil, salt
Dinner: Tuscan bean soup (Progresso brand); shrimp; clementine; decaf with milk

Walked 3,000 steps

Welcome back :)
Well done on jumping back in the wagon. 20 lbs @ 1lb a week is very doable & sensible.

I was just flipping through your diary, and found the journey really interesting considering you started at 172 and couldn't imagine being 145, and then you got way down below that. I'm currently just under 150 and am aiming for 130-ish. I can actually barely imagine 130, never mind anything below that. What weight were you when you felt at your best? Was there anything in particular you found worked especially good for you? I'm vegetarian so we seem to have similar diets.

Good luck to you starting back with renewing your goals.

Hello Cate, LaMaria, and liza. Thank you for the encouraging comments. Liza, to answer your question, 125 is a good weight for me. I know this because when I reach 130, I start to snore and now my doctor thinks I might have sleep apnea. If I get a CPAP machine, I hope it will resolve my low energy problem and make it easier to exercise. Eating a wide variety of vegetables and plenty of protein and drinking eight glasses of water each day seem to help keep my weight down. Also, the 10,000 steps a day was an important part of my original weight loss and I hope to be able to do that again some day.

Breakfast: Half can chili (Amy’s brand) with green pepper, onions, garlic sautéed in olive oil
Lunch: Granny Smith apple with peanut butter; two slices cheese
Dinner: From Restaurant “vegan superfood salad” (520 calories) and “Healthy Parmesan Bowl” (600 calories)

I'm not usually a fan of cadded chili but adding all the fresh veggies must make a big difference. Otherwise your diet sounds healthy and delicious! Do you have an idea what made you regain weight?

I love Amy's brand of prepared stuff--yummy :)

Yes good quality sleep is so important--I hope it resolves for you!
I'm trying for a lot more walking these days and am finding it really good.

Hi, aiminglow! Nice to meet another vegetarian.

LaMaria, you ask how I regained the weight. In 2017, I started losing weight rapidly and without trying. I should have seen a doctor but I was frightened and instead I stopped weighing myself and increased my consumption of eggs, avocados, nuts, olive oil, etc., to try and reverse the weight loss. I also stopped exercising due to fatigue. I overshot and when I finally saw a doctor a few months ago, discovered I weighed 143. Now trying to recover my old habits and get healthy again.

Last time I was on the boards, there was an edit button but now it seems there is an edit window of only a certain amount to time. Can anyone confirm? I used to like to edit my posts to adjust food and exercise.

Hi, Want2Lose- The time limit on editing is so that sneaky spammers, can't start out with an innocent spam-free first post, that gets past the moderators & then go back & add spamming links to their original posts, which don't show up as "new posts" & hence don't get picked up by the mods. Every single new post is read by the mods. Cheers, Cate.

Pleased with my eating today. Things have changed a bit since I lost the weight the first time. For one thing, I forgot my fitday username and I found they won’t let you recover it with an e-mail address. I will keep trying to remember it as I would like to look over my old food logs. But if I can’t perhaps I will create a new account.

Also, last time I lost weight, I found it inspiring to read current news articles on obesity. Every day I would go to google news, enter the search term “obesity”, sort by date and read two or three articles. I think obesity was a hotter news topic ten years ago, because recently I have not found many interesting or inspiring articles.

Oh that's too bad you can't get in to see your old food logs--I'm sure it would be interesting!

Your meals sound great. I notice very little bread, or grains in general...i keep thinking about giving up bread. I'm pretty high carbs. Do you find that's made a big difference for you?

It could also mean they´ve moved on to using different keywords. I like to watch obesity shows and docs on Youtube but if I watch more than 2-3 in a row it makes me want to overeat...
