vbulletin forum

Deep breaths... :)

I'm trying, it's just frustrating....

You can download the pages you've created and reupload them to any other site... so all the work you've put in won't be lost...

Is that true for any host? I wonder how I would do that with homestead... I get the feeling that homestead isn't easy to move stuff from.

did a google search on web host and php and my sql and site building functionality and came back with

it seems to use front page -- a microsoft product as it's site builder -which is very easy to work with -not fancy - but easy

You haven't heard of hostgator?

should be...
Not to throw too much technical stuff at you -but
Do you have FTP ability with homestead?

you can usually just grab everything via ftp and copy it locally then ftp it back up to your new host.

I'venot heard of hostgator but i don't spend a lot of time looking up hosting companies...

it's got Mysql and PHP which are both needed for Vbulletin
Looking at their website - some of the content management stuff might be kinda cool going forward -to give you an easy online archive of your "question of the week" or something like that.

and it's got mailing list capabalities -which might be cool going forward...

it looks like ti's got it's own forum system too but i've not heard of them ( that means nothig though)

Looks pretty slick and the price is great.

Hahaha, I haven't a clue. I'll have to do some research tonight if I find the time... if not, tomorrow I certainly will.

I hear good things... I'm not jumping into anything this time though.

how do you upload images to homestead? and when you were cleaning up dead stuff from your site -how were you doing that? you should be able to download files the same way I shoudl think

It was just a file management section of their site when I log in. Maybe you can check it out.

When I right click using IE when I'm on the site..... I don't get any save options.

the tricky part to moving is that your domain is registered with homestead - so going to anew hosting company you'd either need a new domain name or have a redirector set up at homestead to go to your new host...

not sure if homestead has the capabilties to do that but i'm sure it's possible

ahhhhgg!!!!

This is the first I'm regretting doing this on my own....

I've enjoyed being creative and putting my heart down on paper, so to speak.... but it was too good to be true

I'm not giving up that name.

I heard from a few people today that they don't think I can move my domain name from homestead... I'll have to call them.

right click/save as is afirefox thing

go to file/Save as

amd instead of web archive choose HTML Source

And if I found a new host, I'd be able to just upload this or something you think?

Obviously, at least I hope... I don't want to close down homestead until I am positive that I can make things work elsewhere.

I'm heading out of the office... I think I'm going to go visit my grandfather in the hospital in a bit... thanks for your help Mal... I'll be back on later to try and figure some things out.

Yea, but the question I have is, is homestead the right place for me to grow this business through.

I don't like the idea of being stuck as a host.

And I'm completely ignorant so maybe it's no big deal.
