I want to join in! My current weight is 203 and my goal for Christmas is 185. Not as ambitious as some, but at that rate I will reach my total goal of 160 by my target date of 4/5/07.

I have always been kind of camera shy (I'm sure I'm not the only one here who can confess to that) so the only before pictures I have are of me at a harry potter symposium last August. This is me at my highest of 213.

hello you guys!!! How is everybody doin? I'm okay, im in my computer class at school right now, and i got done before everybody else, so im on here. ummmmm, yea, so im sooooooo tired!!!! How's the diets goin? And i forget (sorry im in 3 different challegnes) what are weigh in days on here? If its okay with everybody, i can post mine on fridays.....well, let me know what yall think!!!!

good luck Tammy!!! I got on the scales this mornin and it said i had gained 3 lbs back!!! I about had a heart attack! Just two days ago it said i lost 2 lbs and i know i havent cheated *sigh* I hope it goes back down by tomorrow!! Wish me luck too! lol gah, i evern exercised for like 2hrs+45 minutes, another thing, i have been wondering, i have been walking for hours a day, and a dude in the schools medical class told me somethin about for every so many miles you walk, you gain muscle, and so, ive lost a couple lbs, and ppl are already sayin they can notice, i mean, just comin up to me and sayin somethin,but it seems like the scales arent going as low as they should if ppl are makin comments already that dont even kno about my diet.... I dont know (I hope that made since) It kinda makes me feel...like...makes me wonder why dont i just stop, but if ppl can tell, why would i do that? Its almost as if i can lose weight and ppl tell me it looks like it all day long, but if the numbers dont say what i expect them too, it discourages me. I'm sorry if i have been complainin too much the past couple days, its just you guys are sooooo supportive, and it helps ALOT! plus, TOM was just here and i guess that has me kinda emotional...but anyways, i hope everyone is doin great! Can't wait to see how everyone has done!!!!

I edited my pics but I forgot to put my xmas goal!
I want to be 175 atleast by xmas, thats a realistic
figure for me especially if I hit a plateau! Hopefully
I can lose more but thats 23 lbs! Ok good luck every

I know exactly how you feel. One morning I got on the scale and it was up 6 lbs out of nowhere. To fix the problem of the scary scale, i started using moving averages in excel to figure my weight. That way, one crazy day doesn't blow all of my progress and it is a little less scary. You can get excel spreadsheets already figured out with all the formulas and charts from hackersdiet.com.

Thank you all so much for your compliments on my costume. I must admit, it just brought a bit of a tear to my eye to think that anybody would call me beautiful, even before i lose my weight. What a great forum this is!

The Harry Potter Symposium is a 3 day academic event designed for adult fans of Harry Potter. This year it was held in Vegas (lumos2006.org) and next year it will be in Toronto (prophecy2007.org). Most of the daytime programming is lectures given by different scholars about harry potter subjects, such as "The Sorting Hat, Ideology and Free Will" or "Mutually Assured Destruction: Harry and Voldemort in a Cold War Context". Fun times!
 
Hey there EMILY, trying measuring I heard that is real accurate and
if the scale is staying the same or not saying what it did a few days ago
it could be water gain and also measuring you are still losing inches regarless
of what the scale says.I would like to measure lol not sure which roll to

Llama, that sounds like sooo much fun! I'll have to see if I can make the Toronto one next year; I wanted to travel to Ontario anyway!

Emily, I understand what you mean too. Even now, knowing I lost 15 lbs already, every once in a while I look around and think I should just quit and pig out. Where's the logic in that?

Welcome Jeb! You and I are nearly the same age and have nearly the same goals :) Nice to meet you.
 
Well, this week is going pretty good, exercise wise (4days down), now I just have to pick up my diet. I am great during the day with eating, but some nights I fall apart and eat too much. Goal for this challenge is to exercise 5days a week (weights and treadmill) and limit my late night eating. I really hope this will do the trick and I will lose the weight.

What is everyone else doing to lose the weight?
 
Llamabean~~Holy smokes I am a HUGE, HUGE Harry Potter fan too!!! Every year I'm Harry Potter for Halloween (yes, I'm a girl but who cares right!)

Katie- I've been surprised how many fans I've found since admitting I enjoy them :)

2b- I am exactly the same way! I've had to adjust, saving a good 300-400 calories for a late night salad or something or I'll just never make it! Congrats on doing great on the exercise
 
Em: It sounds to me like your muscles are firming up. It's highly annoying to see the numbers on the scale jump up but in the end those new muscles will help you burn off more calories...I'd expect a drop in the numbers in a few days.
