Time is short, life is short. I am still slightly sick, seems like I am sick every week when I am dieting. Therfore going to keep this entry short.

Did chest+tricep workout. nice to be back on bulking again. Only spent 70 minutes at the gym working out versus hours before while cutting. Highlight is benching

275x3(5+1), and 275x1x(4+1). Thereby, next week will try 280x5x5.

do you do full body workouts?
what do you think are a couple great tips to help get my bench up there(im assuming you know from experiance. can you think back to when you were about my strength..only benching around 215-225? im just doing speed close grip bench now to try to mix it up...)

Today's was leg workout. I KNEW something suffered from my dieting and was pleaslantly surprise to see that my bench press was about the same was yesterday BUT my squat dropped wayy down. I am hoping the my weakness was from illness / basketball on Sunday and still fatigue. But the "highlight"

Squat: 295x1x(5+1)

I did a a few warmup sets and a bunch afterwards at 275x2x8, and reverse pyramid back down to 135. Considering that I used to do 315 without issues at 3 sets of 6-8, this was a big step down.

Been reading a book about personality and carreer options that I found really interesting. Don't have the book with me atm, but will give it in later journal. Awesome book for those choosing a possible career that will allow them to be satisfying. Explained a few things about myself that I didn't think about and pinpoint a lot of my strength and weakness with character profiling (only read 70 pages so far). Bascially, I am a Intravert Intutive Feeling Judging (INFJ). The book classify people into 16 types: Extravert vs Intravert, Sensor vs Intutive, Thinker vs Feeler, Judger vs Percervier. Before, I always thought that I was a think and not a feeler but that is wrong. I thought I was a thinker because of my inclination in mathematics and science and logical pervial BUT inside I am more concern about other people's feeling and intangible factors in so I am a feeler.

Anyways, no reflection today as I am digesting what I read. Super good book so far.

Rest day. Sore as heck and legs are really stiff. Guess like I need to put in more rest days. Saw some old pictures of me back in september and I want to get back to that shape again in term of bodyfat. So, I am considering cutting my muscle gain phase to this week only. Might go 1 week of bulk and 2 weeks of cut; we'll see how I feel after sunday.
 
Bad idea to bulk then cut that fast. If you want to add muscle you cant be afraid to add some fat.

If you want to add mass you will have to at least bulk for a couple months (which prolly isnt long enough), then worry about cutting when summer gets here.
 
I will disagree there Wesrman. From what I read in Ultimate Diet 2.0, written by Lyle Mcdonald, it cutting and bulking can be done even at a weekly basis. Has lots to do with carb cycling and diet manipulation. The orginal concept was to do a 10 day diet, 5 days of cut and 5 days of bulk, but who lives on a 10 day cycle so Mr. McDonald modified it into weekly thing. Now, I am just expanding it into 2 weeks cycle.

Nothing too exciting to report just back and shoulder workout. Highlight is:
Military press on Machine set at max weight (155 lbs each arm)
155x4x8

Man, my body is still sore even today from Monday's and Tuesday's workout. Funny, I workout less and am more sore. LoL. Oh, here is my vanity speaking but when I was walking back into locker room, 1 guy point and me and told his friend that he wanted to get my body. Yes, I was eaves-dropping. Hard to avoid when someone points at you, one have to listen in. :)

I am realizing more and more why I am single, LoL. It's not the girls, it's me. I am just too damn picky and too much of a romantic and waiting for the perfect girl to come along. Like a quote from Ghost Whisper when the guy asked the girl, "Why, what am I waiting for?" The girl replied, "Everything!!! Don't give in and be content for less just because."
 
Ya but it makes it way harder and you have to do everything perfectly. Id rather just concentrate on one or the other, but thats up to you.
 
you are 100% correct there, Wesrman. Going bulking for 2-3 months and then cutting is an easier route, for sure; but then my body does not look as nice when I am not as lean. If it wasn't soo darn hard, I would like to have that 6-pack look all year round.
 
12/13/09 Friday

It's Friday the 13th!!!! oh noooozzzz.

Abs in the morning, followed by yoga. Then, Bicep (for 40 minutes) followed by tricep.

Preacher curl 100 lbs+ bar x 1 x 5 (kinda cheated last 2) Then proceeded to lower the weight and did a tons of curls.

Close grip bench: 185x2x8.

Finally, finished with 40 minutes in the sauna / whirlpool. The day has been long and seemed like I spent the whole time in there. Was a blast though and feel really relaxed but tired since I've been up since 3 am. Early to bed, really early to rise makes a LONG Friday.
 
2/15/09

Went on my usual 6.5 miles hike with nephew and met his girlfriend finally. Apparently, she heard a lot about me already and was slightly intimidated. Nice girl and a cute couple but only in High School so the chances of their relationship lasting and enduring for a long time is slim. I do wish them the best of luck but .....

Afterward, played another couple hours of basketball. Both hiking and basketball was done at a leisurely pace. Was a lot of fun and relaxing. Guess like 1 more week of muscle gain procedure and then Saturday night will be my transition into weight loss with hiking next Sunday again as part of depletion workout.

Today's reflection (kinda) is that most (probably all) teenagers are not very comfortable in their skin yet. Sometimes as adult, we forget how confusing and arward being a teenager was. aaahhhh, refreshing to hear views of little ones. Where do we lose our positive energy and idealism; when did life hit us so frequently and often that we come jaded and lose our optimism and belief in the goodness of mankind; did our mentality slowly died as our body degrades?
 
2/16 Monday

Shoulder and tricep.

Still tired from basketball and hike from yesterday but still worked out for 70 minutes. Military press, shrugs, lat raises, tricep ext (normal+reverse grip), seated tricep ext, cable rev cable raise.

Military press max setting 155x4x8.
 
2/17 Tuesday

It's leg day today. Samo-samo.

Leg press, 11 plates x 3 x 7 (with last set pyramid)

So, I read in Times magazine that people who have some Faith lives longer. Makes sense to me in multiple arenas. There is campionship there and a sense of higher being taking care of us instead of the burden of the world on our shoulder. Almost every religion preach their followers to be good, kind, compassionate, and love. Just a complete random thought today:
"The best is half the truth."​
 
2/18 Wed

Bicep and back.

Alternating DB curl: 55x4x6
immediately followed by hammer: 40x4x5

I weighed myself in the morning again and was down to 171.5 lbs. Wow... the weight is down and my power is wayy up. Been eating like crazy too. Not sure if I want to lose weight next week or continue more power workout now since I am only 171 lbs. Should take progress pictures soon.

2/19 + 2/20

2/19 Chest only day.

This is the FOURTH day straight of working out... Let me tell you, not fun at all and my body is still sore from Monday's workout (the shoulder). Nice little switch up to confused the body but not doing that again anytime soon.

Flat BB bench: 280 x 4 x 4.


2/20 Rest day.

It's finally here and woke up sore with a headache from last night that persisted... fun.. not. Oh well. No gym today and it's the first time in a long time that I am glad not to workout today.

Today's thought that I heard on the radio but it's beautiful:
"You may be one person in the world but you could be the world to one person."
 
2/23 monday

Workouted shouler and tricep.

Man, been really tired and sleeping a lot. Constantly tired and worn down. Slept like 14 hours on sunday and monday. Feeling all the old injuries plus cold sore makes me feel like Job (not nearly as bad) from the bible. Until I recover completely, I am afraid to go on cut phase.
 
2/24

Did leg workout, light and quick. Nothing really special except that we did smith machine for squating and calf raises. Much better than seated calf raise. Still really tired and been sleeping like a beast. Was considering fasting tomorrow but have too much to do so will continue bulking for 1 extra week.
 
2/25 Wednesday = rest day.

Been hard at work cutting (done) and now digging up an old pine tree stump / roots. It's actually a lot of fun and mediative. Rich people go to retreats, I go to my mom's house and dig up one of her trees. :)
 
Sleeping is so good! When you sleep you build muscle... I have to find the balance between training hard and overtraining... I still have more is more mindset and sometimes it i counterproductive.

Tree Stump digging sounds like awesome exercise. I bet your back is sore! I wouldn't mind except I hate dirt on my hands. :)
 
2/26 Chest only day

Flat BB bench: 135,225,275,280,285,280(4) x 5 reps

Tree trunk is finally up. Lots of work but rewarding. Yes, mel my lower back is kinda sore but not that bad. Wow, realized how much stronger I am now than in the past. The trunk looks big and heavy but was moved + lifted with ease (w/ brother's help). Tomorrow is put the dirt back in and cement up. Btw, I dug the tree up mostly bare footed, I like the feeling of earth between my toes.
