The useless Olympic sports

I think the Olympics need to stick to events that test the human body in any of these ways;

-Speed
-Strength
-Endurance

I can’t think of any events I’d want to keep that don’t fall into these categories.
I would like to see powerlifting events included

You seriously think that

Tennis
Volleyball - Beach volleyball is 2 players. Indoor volleyball is 5 players.
Softball
Bandmitton
Fencing
Equestrian

are not sports?

He just said he didn't understand why they were an Olympic sport. I think most of us will agree that there is 1 or more sports we just aren't into and wonder why they're Olympic sports.

Mine is curling. I don't get why that's an Olympic sport at all.

Ah I see.

Guess I just disagree, I think the olympics are a time for countries to compete in ALL sports, not just ones that test the human body. It's to see who's #1 when it comes to all sports. If its just things like speed, endurance, and strength that would be pretty boring.

Which sports are you gonna be watching then? Be honest?

I'll watch any of them I can.

But the ones I am looking forward to are

Basketball ( TEAM USA )
Volleyball ( both indoor and outdoor )
weight lifting
sprinting / hurdles
Rally racing
Soccer
and gymnastics

I havn't seen you around here in a while, you should post in the members lounge more. Indian clubs and croquet - i have no idea what these two sports are to be honest. How did they do solo synchronized swimming? Isn't the synchronization with your partner in the pool? Tug o' war use to a sport as well...I'm sure that was interesting.

Edit* So that's what croquet is (i just looked it up on wiki)...yeah, there's a croquet club near where i live. From where i sit, it's like golf for really old people

I had no idea what Indian clubs were til I saw the video - think of bowling pins but with longer necks. As for the swimming, yes, that's exactly what it was - the video showed one person in the water doing a routine. My guess is that they didn't quite know what to call it, and synchronized swimming being the closest thing to it, they just called it that.

...Phate, you were just trying to start another argument with me? You don't need to answer, it just seems/ed that way.

Well i guess they just couldn't be bothered coming up with a different name for it.

Everything you say will be biased?

I can see that.

Why don't you apply to be the main coordinator of the Olympics, maybe if we had someone like you run the Olympics we would all be happy?

Table Tennis NOT A SPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!! You opinionated bastard, you.

I will be opinionated and biased as well: If we ever had someone like you have a say in the Olympics, they would suck like gas driven leaf blower put in reverse.

:yelrotflmao:

I love the lounge.

:luxlove:

I have no problems with beach volleyball. I just watched the men's prelim or whatever and they have cheerleaders. Dressed in bathing suits.

Who knew partying could be an olympic sport?

I also think tae kwon do is a stupid sport.

They wear too much padding in TKD. If you're going to fight, do it right. Which reminds me. St. Pierre is fighting tonight on UFC. Gotta go ... ;)

Wow, you think people riding horses that are jumping obstacles (which are probably taller than you) is boring? You're nuts. I went to the Rolex a couple years ago and let me tell you, it was one of the most exciting events I've ever been to.

And in case anyone thinks it's easy to make horses do all that you have never really ridden!

UFC 87 **Spoiler** warning!
Do not scroll down if you don't want to know the results :)

TKD is one of the most useless MA's out there. Oh yeah, GSP killed, Lesnar killed :O, Manny got KTFO, Maia is a beast and Florian won :D

Like i said, just my opinion. I don't care how tall the obstacles are, it's not interesting to me

No one said it was easy.

You could've warned anyone that didn't see the fight before you threw this out.

I'm still not sure why there are those that think TKD is one of the most useless MAs out there. Let's see...they have kicking and punching. Oh, that's right...so does kick boxing. I guess kick boxing and Thai boxing is one of the most useless MAs out there also.

Sorry Streams...that just bugs me. People mistake the jumping around and loud kiaing of Olympic style TKD as that's what everyone who's taken TKD does. Who said a TKD artist can't kick to the groin and take out a knee?

That was a really good fight card ;-) I think GSP is one of the best (and most athletic) fighters the UFC has ever had. Sorry guys, but GSP looks amazing in those tight shorts ... and his physique? Unbelievable.

I wouldn't say unbelievable. He's got a decent amount of muscle on him with low bodyfat. Nothing unbelievable about that. Heck, the guy he was fighting had a similar physique.

But I will agree that it was a good fight card. I was really impressed by Lesner's bulldog tactics. But mostly I was impressed by dude hanging in with GSP for the 5 rounds.
