Carb Timing Update

I got my bodyfat tested again today. I was feeling pretty lean, abs are hardly covered with fat compared to what they were. I felt confident that I hadn't gained any fat and perhaps even lost a slight amount. I weighed in at 175, 2 pounds up from last bodyfat test which was 12 days ago.

I checked my measurements and my arms went up and my waist stayed the same.

The results came back like I expected them.. my fat level was pretty much unchanged from last time. a few of the measurments went up by a very small amount, and some went down by a very small amount (abs, chest and suprilliac, with abs being the biggest drop, .4 milimeters), the rest of them stayed the same from last week.

The results showed that I had gained 1.7 pounds of lean mass and .3 pounds of fat mass. Leaving my bodyfat percentage unchanged from last week at 11.2%.

This is still great news for me! With these small little fat gains I can almost bulk indefinitely.

As to why I didn't lose fat this week? There was a small bit of differences.

The main difference is that I was eating a lot of carbs pre workout. Sometimes getting over 100g. I was also eating a tad more carbs in my post post workout meal.

Another thing that I can think of is that I was leaner. I kind of believe in the natural bodyweight thing, and when I was in the 12% fat range my appetite was getting supressed, like my body didn't want to go any higher. I notice that the leaner I am, the hungrier I am. I think 11% or so is my natural bodyweight.

I didn't do a bit of cardio either... (just lifted five days a week and the rest of the time was just pure sitting basically) I would bet that if I would walk for an hour a day or something I would be able to lose fat and gain muscle.

That's what I will experiment with this summer. I will be doing a lot of walking because I will be playing golf about 4 days per week and another day I will be mowing lawns all day.

Shee...... am just beat right now, need some sleep. I dropped the volume like the program suggested, my shoulder is still really sore so I don't know if I should work through that pain tommorrow or not.... what would you guys do?

I took the day off today... man.... I hate doing that! I hope my shoulder heals quickly... I am going to ease off the heavy benching for a while, and make damn sure my form is perfect.

I am going to be leaving for a vacation on the 15th of May... so I am going to just burn out until then with a full body program 5 days per week.

After that I get back from my vacation I am planning on doing another 8 weeks of this STS program.... definitely the best gains I have ever made came from this type of training.

It's definitely not just soreness, probably messed up my rotator cuff. I don't know what labrum is

Yeah I should have explained it, I tore mine playing football in HS and had a couple surgeries to try to fix it.

I'd definitely say have it checked out, shoulder injuries are not something you want to mess with..

I read on that website.. it sounds exactly as they described a labral injury.

I hope that the college has some type of place to take X-Rays... I will try to get this checked out... I hope time will heal it mostly.

It talks about exercises to strengthen the shoulder girdle... do you know what those might be?

Near the bottom of are a bunch of exercises, I did the same thing while in rehab for my surgeries.

Thanks a lot! Hopefully the pain will go away soon so I can actually do some of those exercises..

Well, since shoulder day messed up my schedule I am going to do legs today and then arms friday... then I will just take the weekend off and start a new program on Monday.

I am going to do some traps today too because I can do those pain free.

mmmmmmmman........ so I went and did some legs today and then a bit of traps cause I can do them basically pain free.

I am really depressed about all this right now... I messed up my shoulder now I can't work chest or shoulders for who knows how long.

hmph...:(

sorry to hear about the injury! get it checked out. and definately use the time you normally would to do chest and shoulders to do some rehab and corrective exercises.

here are my final pics... best gains I have made in my life have come from this program for sure.

Notice any areas I should work on improving?

Starting weight was 166 in the mornings and ending is 176. During the day I get up to 182.

All of the details about the program and nutrition are in my journal

Here is a starting picture:

And these are my final results

Still kind of have my abs thanks to carb timing:

How many of those 10lbs would you say is LBM?

This is according to my bodyfat tests .....

Well the first couple of weeks I ate just way too much. I wanted to make sure I was eating enough to maximize gains. So I gained about 2 pounds of fat in the first couple of weeks.

Then the next couple of weeks after that was the really high volume phase, so I figured that I would probably need a lot of food still, so yeah, ate too much again and gained another 2 pounds of fat.

THEN, I started doing carb timing and dropped 1.5 pounds of fat over the next two weeks, and since then I have basically stayed the same for fat but have been making big LBM gains.

So I guess if you do the math I gained right around 3 pounds of fat.. and the rest LBM.

I am going to keep doing the carb timing because I can bulk without gaining hardly any fat, and actually even losing some too.
