The road to getting faster.

dude I wouldn't suggest cutting while you're practicing so much. You need more calories than you can probably eat. Eat healthy and lift big, you'll see much bigger gains. The weight will come off slowly, getting more power is more important now. (IMO)

Hope your back gets better.

No I decided to quit cutting a few days ago. I am always eager to cut/bulk but I always screw up the diet. This entire diary right now, as I see it, is a failure. Thats why I can't wait till the end of the season so I can start bulking.

O and my back is getting better, I can bend it now. I haven't lifted in 2 weeks.

----------------------------
Today my back was starting to feel better. So in the morning I worked out my chest. I decided to do speed training with the weights since I can't add on size and don't want to lose weight during the season. I took my max bench 130 and multiplied it by .60. I did 3 sets of 10, and I lifted as fast as possible, exploding. (plyometrics).

Set 1- 80 pounds, 10 reps
Set 2- 80 pounds, 10 reps
Set 3- 80 pounds, 10 reps

I also did the same for military press, but surprsingly I was getting fatiqued

Set 1- 50 pounds, 10 reps
Set 2- 50 pounds, 6 reps
Set 3- 50 pounds, 4 reps.

I was going to do bent-over-rows I tried, but then my back started to hurt so I stopped, and i didn't do squats.

I did some sprinting in the backyard for like 2 minutes, but then I stopped when my back started to hurt. After the workout I took a little whey protein.

Today I ate like 6 apples, grapes, Lots of vegetables and such. I also ate alot of chicken. I was hungry today.

well I just took my ibeprophan and cyboploxaodifjsjl muscle relaxer pill. going to bed.

Today I was very off. I just ate alot of junk food and pizza and I feel like I'm gonna explode

And then my back starting to hurt again. But I'm going to practice tommorow regardless of the pain. I hate sitting out!

here is what you do... go to practice just don't do anything... you need to be there... the coaches need to know you are eager... if your HS has a trainer... talk to him... did you go see a doc.. if you did he gave you a recomended time to not play football... show the trainer and coaches...

The worst thing you can do is NOT go to practice... you have to be there... so you know what is going on and so the coaches don't forget about you... BUT don't practice hurt...

broken fingers... toes... bruises... cuts... or something you can actually play through like a sore ankle or something (if you are lineman where speed isn't necessary)... of course a medical professional might dissagree with me...

but neck & back pain (and tail bone) you have to rest or you could really hurt yourself... don't push it... if you think you are ok... take in slow... go out and run a few laps around the feild... do some 100 yard sprints... some up, downs... if your back doesn't hurt the next morning after that then you are probably ok to try contact... but if you go out and have contact and it isn't ready then you are back to square one of healing again...

Good luck dude! I did my tail bone after the 1st game of the season (screwing around in the locker room) my freshman year and was out for 6 weeks...injuries stink!!!! I feel your pain!

I like the advice, but I'm going to have to be headstrong here. I have already sat out the entire week. Sometimes I get the feeling the other players aren't taking me very seriously.

Yes, and injuries do stink. I never expected to get injured. I thought I was one of those people who would never get injured or never get hurt but then it happend. I hurt my back during up-downs....

I might skip school tommorow and use the entire day resting my back and then hopefully I'll be ready tommorow.

put things in perspective... chances are you are not going to be a college athlete... athletics are for fun... school is for real! Don't skip school... remember your eduction is you meal ticket!

Good luck with practice!

I felt I needed to follow that up... don't let anybody tell you that you can't accomplish something if you think you can... I have seen people do things I never thought possible... through sheer determination.

My point was that school is important and is first in the term "student-athlete" for a reason...

later!

Thanks for the response, but I already skipped school today and rested my back the entire day. My parents don't mind, I have gotten a 4.0 every quarter since middle school, so I have no problem with keeping my grades up. I am one of those people who never study for a test, and get the best score in class.

My back is feeling alot better. I think I will be ready for practice tommorw.

11:15 PM
o crap, I can't sleep. ! ugh. I just thought about this. Ever since I started getting into fitness, there has always been one thing that has bugged me. My GUT!. Damn 34 inch waist! I will cut you out. I feel like crap lately. I'm tired, sweating all the time now. I haven't worked out in 2 weeks. except I benched a few days ago. I stopped doing cardio like a month ago. I need to get back on track.

I read some good advice, is to take things slowly. I decided to start a scheldule everyday with goals listed on it.

Long Term Goal- Lose the gut, I want a flat stomach so bad.

Tommorow goals-
--- Eat 2000-2100 Calories. (screw macronutrients, its just adding stress on me and its hard in my house)
--- No junk food!! Eat all clean
--- Do all homework (might as well post this here, I go on this diary everyday)
--- Be in bed by 11:00 PM
--- Do HIIT for 20 minutes. Every other day.

2:39 AM
OMG , i can't believe I have not fallin asleep yet......My eyes are killing me. I swear I got a sleeping disorder or something. And I told some of my teammates I'll be ready today.... I don't know what to think. I just dont know.

6:13 AM
Well, Im missing school again. I got no sleep. Though, in the real "adult" working world this isn't a excuse. But, think of it this way. If I went to school, I would just sleep in class anyway. Its okay though, I asked my Mother and she was like Okay. I'm lucky, that high gpa saves me. so my parents trust me. thank god..

I finnally managed to practice today, though my back still hurt. I decided to play through the pain, and I think its gonna work out. I can run, and bend and stuff, but I'm gonna have to ignore it. There is a scrimmage in 2 days and it will be my last chance to show the coaches that I am worthy of starting linebacker. Wish me luck.

* I am loaded with Makeup work

Well its been quite a few days since my last post. My team has already completed the first game. We won 27-0. Thats a way to start off!. I played Defensive End in that game for just 1 series.
I have no chance at starting. Its virtually impossible. I am still undersized and slow. I didn't use my time last offseason to get better. I wasted alot of it.
In a few days I will get back into weight lifting and start the Rest-Pause technique.

i also have to add that I have added ALOT of weight. See in my signature it says 155? I am 170 pound now!.

I don't think I am 170 Pounds. My scale is way off. theres no way I could have lost 7 pounds overnight. I will go by waist-inches as a way of measuring my progress. Here is Sundays Stats:

Waist ~34 inches, 90 Centimeters.

I don't know the science of this, like how much pounds it takes to lose a inch off your stomach? But I will get the stats every Sunday. O and RAVENS WON 27-0 WOOOOO

I drank lots of water last night and I had lots of milk with whey protein. I was really thirstly after practice. Anyway I kept drinkning more water and more water. I woke up in the morning and it looked as if my waist got smaller. It was really odd

And today my entire diet was clean!! Haven't done that in a while. Heres what I had

Yogurt
School Lunch- 2 Vanilla fat free milks, salad, chicken nuggests
After practice- Chicken, salad, penuts, Water, small class of milk.

I don't think I got enough calories, but I think that is okay just for today because last night I had like 10 glasses of milk and vanilla whey protein. I know I consumed more then 100 grams!

I did a lower body workout today. I started Romaninan dead lifts. I did 3 sets of 8 with 70 pounds. And I won a pool in the Redskins minnesota game. Everyone was like Redskins gonna win. HA! got me 20 bucks.

Well this morning my waist (at the largest circumference) was 34 inches which is a record. I guess its all the water drinking.

Well I finnally made up my mind what I am doing. For one, I am NOT bulking or cutting no longer. I will use the rest of the season with the fuel I have. However, I will be getting back on the "road to getting faster". I can increase my speed for the season.

I have plenty of time to do this also. I am not starting. I can't play d-line or linebacker simply because I don't have the ability to gain weight (although right now I am 168). I think I will do a better job playing cornerback. This is why I'm gonna work on my speed.

And this is what I will start doing, no changing my mind!!!! This is why I haven't gotten anywhere. Okay, at the begginning of the season I ran a 5.25. So by November 20 (last day of football season) I should be able to run a 5.00 flat. This is a realistic goal.

I have a good base of knowledge for increasing speed. For one, you need to just eat clean because you can't bulk or cut while increasing speed which is good for me because I maintain weight pretty easily (my weight usually jumps up and down but stays about the same).

This is my new workout scheldule. No excuse!! I don't care if its dark outside, mosquitos eating me up i'm doin it.

Monday-
Strength- Bench, Military Press, Bent-over row
Dumbell Flys, Shrugs, Lat-pulldown
Tuesday- Running and plyometric work
Running- 10 sprints (my backyard is about 20 or so yards)
Plyometrics-
1.) Squat Jumps
2.) Squat Tuck Jumps
3.) Lunge Jumps
4.) Butt-kickers
5.) High Knees
6.) Shuttle
7.) side-side jumps

Wendsday- Squat, RDL, Leg-raises
Lunges, Leg Curls, Ab Crunch
Thursday- Cone Position drills and plyometrics ^^^

Friday- Power Clean, Decline Bench, Deadlift
Tricep extensions, bicep curls, close grip bench

Saturday, Sunday -Rest

** I'm playing corner next year, this year I will finish out the season as a linebacker.

Well here we go!

So far so good, the diet has remained clean and I started using rest-pause technque for my bench because I want to get that up.

=========================
Yeserday I weighed in at 167.6 Pounds. That is a loss of 1 pound. Which isn't too bad but I like to lose at least 3-4 becaue what if that 1 pound was just water? or something. argh.

The diet sucked today but I was within my calorie range. So I give myself a C today.

Today really really sucked.
In first period my stomach, started to hurt real bad. In second period, it kepts hurting, I felt my stomach rumbling, I was sweating, started to hold the runs. at the end of 2nd period I asked to use the nurse office and I did, I spent the entire 3rd period in the bathroom......eventually I called home and came home early

It can't be nothing I ate, I didn't eat nothing real bad yesterday. This use to happen to me ALL THE TIME in middle school. O darn!:(
