The road to getting faster.

Thursday August 3rd
------------------------
The leg extension on my bench broke today :(
I did some Squats, and my spotter was acting dumb. so on the last set I got nearly crushed

Squat 5x5
------------
Set 1- 140x 5
Set 2- 140x 5
Set 3- 140x 5
Set 4- 140x5
Set 5- 140x5 (till failure)

Then I did some Snatches, though I'm not sure if I did it right, but it made me start breathing hard.
Set 1- 40 Pounds, 6 reps
Set 2- 60 pounds, 6 reps
Set 3- 70 pounds, 6 reps

Then I did a little more plyometric work with 20 "Jump Squats". You get into squat position and you explode in the air as far and high as you can and then land back into squat position.

Did light work on lunges
Set 1- 30 pounds, 10 reps

Later, it may be my first day of training camp depending on the temperature my coaches called the first 2 days of training camp off. I am small compared to the others so i just want to get off my JV year without injuries hopefully. After the season I plan to bulk up 50 Pounds and surprise everyone.

I also found this calculator on the internet that predicts your potential height. Mine is 6 foot 4. Yeah!

how old are you?

Haven'ts slept yet, I'm actually wide awake. I though about it, and decided that I was going to start bulking now. I can add some mass, strength, and endurance. When the season is finished I will almost be done bulking so I can start cutting and working on my speed before my varsity season. I read once that you shouldn't bulk/cut during the season, but I won't have the time to bulk/cut before the next season so I'm going to get prepared now. I will also be 170 pounds when the season starts, enough not to be killed. Here are my goals , everything is listed by date:

Friday August 4th, 2006- 159 Pounds (current)
Friday August 11th,2006- Goal 161 pounds
Friday August 18th,2006- Goal 163 Pounds
Friday August 25th,2006- Goal 165 Pounds
Friday Septem 1st, 2006- Goal 167 pounds
Friday septem 8th, 2006- Goal 169 pounds
Friday septem 15th,2006- Goal 171 pounds
Friday septem 22th,2006- Goal 173 pounds
Friday septem 29th,2006- Goal 175 pounds
Friday October 6th,2006- Goal 177 pounds
Friday October 13, 2006- Goal 179 pounds
Friday October 20, 2006- Goal 181 pounds
Friday october 27, 2006- Goal 183 pounds
Friday Novermber 3,2006- Goal 185 pounds
Friday November 10,2006- Goal 187 pounds
Friday November 17,2006- Goal 189 pounds
Friday November 24,2006- Goal 191 pounds
Friday December 1, 2006- Goal 193 pounds
Friday December 8, 2006- Goal 195 pounds
Friday December 15,2006- Goal 197 pounds
Friday December 22,2006- Goal 199 pounds
Friday December 29,2006- Goal 201 Pounds

Guess it should be "road to getting bigger" now. Just think if I could maintain my speed after all this bulking!

Heres my Diet:
*3000 calories a day
* 25-55-20 macronutrients protein/carb/fat
so that makes
660 calories of Protein 165.0 grams
1650 calories of Carb 412.5 grams
600 calories of Fat 150.0 grams

So in 1 meal I should consume
27.5 grams of protein
68.75 grams of carb
25 grams of fat

The bulking begins!

When I used to be really sleep deprived I would find that I had sleep paralysis more often. Basically my body was asleep (half my brain, too) but I was concious and trying to wake up.

I decided that I couldn't bulk during the season. With so much practice I would have to eat a crazy amount of calories. I'm going to maintain my weight and just work on my power/speed during the season.

Yesterday was training camp, it was fun. I did pretty well. Made a interception in one of the LInebacker drills. I can't wait to play Linebacker this year. Coaches have told me I have gotten alot bigger, faster, and stronger which is good to hear. I probably won't start (competition is very tough) but if I do that would be great. And if I don't, no big deal. Then I could learn how to play the spot and get experience for practice.

Because training camp and practices are starting up I have to switch my routine. This is my new plan:

Sunday: Rest
Monday-Friday: Practice
Saturday: Full body workout.

I am also going to stop using the 5x5 and start doing 3 sets of 10 so I can add a little endurance. After the season, the title of my diary should change "road to getting bigger". can't wait, I have always wanted to bulk.

Today is rest day. This is also my little brothers weigh in. He weighed in at 107.5 pounds. So he gained 2 pounds, so his bulking is going successful rightn now.

I have training camp later today. Thats all. During the season, my posts in the diary aren't going to be very descriptive until I'm done.

wendesday august 9

We get are football pads soon (friday). I don't know what to think about it though, I guess I'm a little worried because I'm undersized and a little slower then the other linebackers. But then again, I can't wait to get into full gear with pads and all. I just wanna knock someone so hard; you know make a statement ;)

But I know I have gotten stronger and faster, which makes me happy. I know that because I am alot faster (I'm not gasping for breath in agility drills, like I was last year) and I'm alot stronger because when I hit them sleds I'm not as tired out and they actually move when I make contact. (unlike last year, that sled didnt even move when I ran full speed into it.).

can't wait for 2-a-days  those are gonna suck.

edit: after the season, i'm changing the title to "the road to getting bigger".

12:24 PM ,today is the day we get our pads. Though, we don't get to use them today. My Father is still fixiated at I made "varsity", even though I have told him I'm a sophmore and I am playing Jv this season...

Maintaining my weight right now, is very easy. I woke up at 7 am and did some HIIT for about 15 minutes

o, and my sleeping troubles are over, I fixed that finnally.

Yay!!

I maxed on my Squat today, and got 200 Pounds up! WOOOOO. Been trying to get that for a long time.

Wo, its 12:55 PM. Looks like I overslept. I plan on working on my speed and doing some HIIT. I can work on my speed and by the end of the season I will be fast as lightning. I really need to get a body fat analyzer.

--------------------------
Today was my first 2-a-day practice. We didn't get to use our shoulder pads and such. It was overall, a pretty bad day. I wasn't focusing in drills and some stupid Freshmen took my helmet by accident and now our helmets are mixed.

I decided to start going on a cutting diet. I feel it would be a good idea so then by the end of the season I can bulk with a low body fat % and with practices everyday I will get plenty of cardio. This time I'm not gonna fool around with the diet again.

As of now, I am 159 Pounds. I don't know my body fat% so I'm gonna go by mirror. Wish me luck

edit- forgot here are my starting stats
5 foot 9.5 inches
159 Pounds
Calories to lose 1-2 pounds a week- 2200.

with practices everyday I'm not sure how this is going to work out, but I'll adjust the diet along the cutting. Every 2 weeks I'm gonna lower it 200 calories. and have a cheat meal every sunday (which is my rest day. I will be doing a full body routine on Saturdays. I will do 5x5 routines since I'm cutting and can't put on size.

Diet:
35/45/20 Carbs/protein/Fats
Carbs- 192- (lower then my protein intake)
Protein- 159-247g
Fat- 48g (good fats)

My goal is to lose 1-2 pounds a week.

My cutting diet is going to have some problems, especially in the house I live. So what my plan is to just eat healthy (no junk) and get around my calorie limit. I can't get technical with it. (I read somewhere that macronutrients isn't a exact science either and doesn't work for everyone). \

With practices and all, I'm not sure if I should do HIIT. I may/maynot. But if I do I will do it on Saturdays after my lifting.

O and I deadlifted 170 today, but I bet I could do more.

Tommorow we are going full pads, kind of nervous though.

Tommorow is our last 2-a-day, Thank God!. I hate them. today in practice I had a collision with someone and my helmet cracked. :( It was a nice one too. My new helmet is like too big.

The 2-a-day killed me yesterday. My back is sore man. It hurts even when I get out of bed. So I skipped the workout today. O and the cutting diet isn't going to happen. It is so hard to plan out and right now is not a good time. Infact I'm not gonna bother cutting/bulking or anything like that till next year when the season is over. By Next August here are my goals:

Weight- 190
Squat- 315 Pounds
Bench- 210 Pounds
Clean- 180 Pounds
Deadlift- 420
40 time- 4.7
Shuttle- 4.3
Height- Should Increase haven't spurt yet and my dad is 6'6

I didn't go to practice today. I had problems even getting out of bed and moving around. Tommorow I'm going to the doctors to get my back checked and x-rayed.. This really sucks.

Looks like I'm gonna be out for at least a week. I pulled a muscle in my lower back. Sometimes these things can get fixed in a week or sometimes they can take as long as a month. I'll have to see how this is gonna work.
