Good luck with the exercise! I haven't ever experienced the pleasure of an in-grown toenail, but I am pretty sure I will pass on that..

How many cals are you consuming on a day like today?

I have been playing sports and running for so long and this is the first ingrown nail I have ever gotten. It has not been a fun experience!

How many calories...that is a good question...

It has been awhile since I actually calculated the total calories....but I definately know it is under 1,800. Tonight when I am home I will look at the calories in the chicken...

Ah I thought that maybe you were the type to get them all the time. I had my first ingrown toenail a few months ago and got it from riding my bike. My doctor told me that I was trimming my nail way too short, so I stopped doing that and haven't had any trouble since. Like you said though, the amount of pain is surprising.

Good luck at the gym tonight!

Hey Adam!

Just dropping by real quick. Hope you got in a good work-out today!

Calculating calories REALLY helps. I really hated it at first but now it just comes naturally. I really recommend Sparkpeople.com. AWESOME website.

See you around :)

Hey Jes,

Yeah, I got in a good workout today. It felt great! I didn't over due it because I don't want my toe to get any worse so I didn't really run at all, I just tested it out....when I ran it felt OK...I had a bit of pain, so I think I'm going to wait a little longer before I start running again.

I agree with you Jes about the calories...I know the calories in most of what I am eating and the things that I am unsure of (grilled skinless chicken breast, veggies, etc.) are all healthy, so I know I am doing fine on my calories. But, I need to know exactly how many I am getting...this weekend I will figure out the calories in all of my meals.

I signed up to be part of a 25k training group for the race I am running this May...they give you a trainer and you train as a group...anyways, I don't think I got picked and I guess over 300 people applied and they only choose 10. I'm waiting for them to put the training schedule on the race website...I know from last year that the training starts on December 1, so that gives me plenty of time to let my toe heal completely.

I am really ready for this weekend. The past 2 weekends I have been out of town, so this weekend I am exctied to just relax and lay low. Plus college basketball is starting and Michigan State's first game is Sunday...YAY!!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Rock chalk Jayhawk, KU!!!! :)

Glad you were able to work out some, you'll be over that little setback in no time!

Have a good one.

Logan - MSU plays KU this year! Should be a great a game!!

This will be a quick post since I am super busy at work, trying to get a lot done before the weekend. I am getting so frustrated with my big toe...after my workout on Wednesday, my toe was hurting a lot more yesterday, so I didn't do any cardio or running last night, just did my upper body routine. So I think my plan right now is to not do any cardio or running until I can do it without pain in my toe....I cannot even put into words how FRUSTRATING this has been! I just want this to heal NOW so everything can get back on track.

I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend since the previous two weekends I was out of town and on the go. I'm swamped right now at work, which is nice because I'm rushing to get things wrapped up and that makes the day fly by...and Fridays are always the one day of the week that can drag by....

Good morning, Adam :)

Man, I'm sorry about your toe. That sucks. I can imagine your frustration! Does it hurt to just walk? It's good you're still getting in an upper body work-out. If it only hurts when you're doing cardio-cardio, I would just drop the face to a brisk or even slow walk. Walking IS exercise :p

TGIF, huh? Enjoy your weekend off! :)

Jes - It is just frustrating that something as little as an ingrown toe nail can cause so much pain! It hurts to walk when I am at work (because I wear dress shoes which aren't exactly super comfortable), and when I have my running shoes on it hurts when my toe hits the edge (which is why running and cardio hasn't been the best for it). I just am just not someone who can go to the gym and just "walk" on a treadmill...

I had a super long week at work so this weekend I am just relaxing. It felt so good to sleep in this morning. I am about to leave for the gym to do my weight training routine, and tomorrow I am going to try running again, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that my toe feels better.

I already went shopping for the upcoming week...I bought some salmon, bananas, apples, grapes, salad, yogurt...so I am all stocked up on healthy food. Tomorrow I will grill some chicken and make my lunches for the week.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Food for today...

Breakfast: Slimfast
Lunch: Turkey sandwich on wheat, small bag of baby carrots, 1 small apple, 1 small yogurt
Snack later this afternoon: grapes
Pre-workout snack: banana
Dinner tonight: 2 grilled chicken breasts, salad with FF italian dressing

Tomorrow is my weigh in, so we'll see how that goes. Hope everyone is having a good day!

Sorry to hear your toe is still bothering you, that'd drive me crazy, but it looks like you're still sticking with your diet at least so once that clears up you'll be great.

Good luck!

Well, I went to the doctor this morning to get my ingrown toe nail checked out. They numbed up my toe and the doctor removed a piece of my toe nail that had somehow broken off and was lodged way down deep on the side of my toe. Despite the numbing of the toe, I still had to grit my teeth. My first is bandaged and the doc said it should pretty much be instant relief. SO, hopefully I will be back running again PAIN FREE!!!

Great to hear! Sorry that it still hurt quite a bit though :( Ingrown toenails are such a bitch. My roommate used to get them so bad that now he refuses to clip his toenails unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary, haha. Kind of gross, but it stops him from being in pain!

Hope you have a good week :)

Just stopped by to see whats up. I remember my first ingrown toenail. I was like 8, so I think I cried because it was so annoying. Anyways, good luck!

Hey Sara and Ben, thanks for stopping by. I am just amazed that such a small thing can cause so much pain and discomfort. I was trying to hold out on going to the doctor until December. I switched jobs at the end of October and my new insurance doesn't start until December 1. I bought interim insurance and I chose I really high deductable. But, even though I had to pay out of pocket, I know I made the right decision because there is no way that piece of nail was ever going to come out on its own. It was way too deep in there.

It is funny because my foot is so bandaged right now that my dress shoe doesn't fit. So I'm at work in a suit, 1 dress shoe, and 1 sandal on. Kind of funny.

Anyways, I am hoping that I'll be able to get back in the gym tomorrow...we shall see...until then I can just continue to eat healthy!

What up man, glad to see you're doing good. Props on going to the doc's...all shall be better soon though!

Keep up the good eating and the motivation to keep going!

Thanks Logan!!!!!

Well, I am proud to say that my toe feels great. I am able to push down on it in my shoe and I don't get shooting pains everytime it bumps the edge of my shoe. I am so excited to head to the gym today, to do a COMPLETE workout that includes running on the treadmill.

My workout tonight at the gym will include my upper body workout and then cardio (stair climber, running/walking on the treadmill). I will post my cardio times tomorrow.

Here is my food plan for today:

Breakfast: Small bag of grapes, small bag of carrots
Lunch: Turkey sandiwich, yogurt (60 cal size), grapes
Snack: Either a banana or grapes
Pre-workout snack: Either a banana or apple
Dinner: Either 2 grilled chicken breasts or salmon...haven't decided yet. Salad with FF Italian dressing, and some type of fruit
Liquids: So far I have had 1 green tea. I will have a bit of diet coke with lunch and dinner, but the rest of the day it is water, water, water!!!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

-Adam

Hey Adam! :)

"It is funny because my foot is so bandaged right now that my dress shoe doesn't fit. So I'm at work in a suit, 1 dress shoe, and 1 sandal on. Kind of funny." That image totally made me LOL

But hey, at least you're pain free! Glad you FINALLY went to the doctor and got your toe looked at.

Great food plan today. Hope you have a kick@$$ work-out! :)
