The Greenetuckian Files

I was the winner of the 12 pairs of various inline skate parts in an ebay auction. One pair that was in there were RB Kitalpha Alphas and they just so happened to have 248mm frames on them but they were way too small for me. It took a bit of Greenetucky engineering but I mated their frames onto my RB Lightning 05s. Not really a pretty setup but I hope good enough for a start. I may need to move the frames slightly more forward though.

To get the RBs to fit tight enough in the toe for good control I have 2 Dr Scholls 2x cushions under the liner and a footbed in the liner. I may be a little thick so I will work that out later. I have 80mm RB Extra Lites' in the center and 76mm no name wheels I borrowed from Ashley's old skates.

It was raining this evening so I only got to skate around the house. It could be interesting when I take to the street tomorrow. Now to start practicing some moves, I think I will wear all of my pads :D

I know I have not been good at keeping with the program but this morning I had some time and did a workout. The 11.5 Salomon Thundermaxs' arrived and I had to try them out. I know now that if I really want to slalom I am going to have to have a much stiffer boot. The difference in being able to control the skates was tremendious.

Ankle balance - 2x 1:30 (each leg, woohoo added 30 seconds :) )
Bench Press - 5@165, 4@165
SLP - 10@128, 4@156 (each leg)
Curl - 2x5@80

Ashley and I skated awhile this evening. I am not sure how long but somewhere in the neighborhood of 45 min to an hour. Kegan, the little weasle would not go with us, Sheri weenied out also. I worked a bit on my freestyle moves and tried to teach Ash to propel herself backwards. She is learning a little at a time. She did crash twice though. :D

Core muscle workout this morning.

Weighted good morning - 10@100, 10@110
Weighted Crunch - 10@82, 5@95
Weighted side bend - 10@79, 5@93 (each side)

Ankle balance - 1:45 (each leg)
Bench Press - 5@165
SLP - 4@176(each leg)
Curl - 65@80

Kegan and I went out on the skates and were out an our. Most of that time was slalom moves. We set gum tree balls about 4' apart (did not have a tape) and worked on some of the moves. We did not do too bad all in all but he is really whining about his ankles. I know I am going to have to find some more supportive boots soon or give it up. The RB lightnings just are not made for this.

A lot of slalom today. We finished cleaning out an area in the upstairs of the garage and set up some plastic cups for cones, I cut some old tennis balls in half tonight to use as cones in the future. It was a lot of fun even if we only have a clear area of 10' x 30' and none too smooth of a floor. It's not a lot of room but enough for a few cones and learning the moves, we can work on longer runs outside. I know I really worked it because my legs hurt. I did win a pair of Tecnica skates on Ebay that should be much better than the RB Lightnings and am looking to purchase a skate designed specifically for slalom.

Ash and I set up 10 cones in the street and practiced slalom. I don't know how long exactly but long enough to put a hurt on my leg muscles.

I added some video of our practice. You can check it out here -

Went to the local skating rink this evening for a couple of hours. Most of that time was spent on the floor. My legs are really tired so I know I got a workout. Tattoo stayed out on the floor almost the whole time so I know she got a workout also.

A couple of hours at the local rink on the new Salomon Deflectors. My legs got a good workout but the inside arches of my feet hurt. I am going to have to find a way to heat the boots to mold the arch out. It's hell being flat footed in an arched world.

P.S. I fell twice, good thing for the knee pads under my carpenter pants.:D

Yesterday, only some stretching for groin and leg. Introduced Ash to stretching and ankle balancing. At 6 she is much more flexable than I and with practice every day she will be able to do a full splits in no time at all. If I can improve her ankle strength and balance she should get much better at skating.

This morning I went through the groin / leg stretches and then single foot balancing on my toes. I made about 20 sec on each foot but did have to bump the other foot to stay up. I'll keep working on my toe balance until I can do a minute.

I should have stretched out the old leg and groin muscles but my legs were still a bit sore from last night's skate. We did go out in the garage for about an hour this evening. What work I did was mostly on turning sharp, one foot and heel / toe work. There are lots of muscles that need built up there. :D

All right all right, I'll admit I have been slacking. We did get out to the rink tonight and got in almost two hours. I really worked on turns and balance and my doggies are whinin'.

P.S. last evening I push mowed the yard so I guess that ought to count for somethin' :D

I seems I have become a once a weeker for resistance exercise. Oh well it helps keep me from loosing ground. This morning I managed a short workout but after two rounds did not feel like continiuing.

Thanks for noticing. I have actually been looking for where I was at because I have had to start getting back into shape. I quit tobacco again in Aug and my BF% has climbed to 21.5%.

After I get going good again I may start posting again also.

Whenever I see a forum member online, that has a journal, and the person is looking at his/her thread, I make a point of making a post in the applicable log for the purpose of stimulating a post response and hopefully a conversation that can lead to the forum members benefit, and if the log is restarted this flat rocks. I have no other hidden agendas.

I sometimes get misinterpretated. I just care this is all.

ROCK THE HECK ON!

You very welcome, Young Man!

You can still post your training, and diet. And, you can post the complications you are having (if any) while you are attempting to quit smoking or any other appropriate feelings you are having that you may need assistance with...........> This is what a journal is for!
