Weight-Loss The Good, the Banned and the Ugly.

Weight-Loss
Hrm, mine is a mixed vegan / weight loss one but hey :)

The good:
Chick peas, lentils, spinach, tempeh, lentils, quinoa, bananas

The bad:
olive oily stuff, it just.. makes salads so... tasy.. with salt and a little mustard powder. Well thats basically it.. Soy milk maybe, but that isn't really bad.

The Banned:
All things animal, Pasta... I just.. can't stop when I start :p, fried... meaty... salty... steak... stuff.. and.. crispy chicken pieces and... cream boiled.. potatoes.. .deep fried.. shrimps mmmmm..

The Good
Skimmed milk
Low fat yogurt, cheese, margarine

The Banned
Nothing. Apart from lard haha. I will have whatever I feel like, when I feel like it, but I'll make sure it's not all the time and it's within my calorie intake.

The Ugly
A sly slice of chocolate cake ;D
Anything fried in extra virgin olive oil. I have it in moderation as I've read oils are good for you and required by your body.

-Monster, pizza is so loaded in sodium and fat and so easy to eat in large quantities! If you can do it in moderation, that's cool but I can't seem to control myself. So I'm kickin it to the curb :) I do like Lean Pockets though.

-I LOVE Arby's Roast Beef melt and curly fries too. Might have to get me a melt tommorow >=(

-Clever, are you permanently vegan now or is only until you hit your goal?

-Lyn, Im making the tacos this weekend since I'm finally free...woohoo.

Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to post. I know its usually a pretty lengthy post you have to make, but I do read ALL your lists and enjoy doing so, so don't think its a wasted effort. Keep em comin.

I have turned permanently vegan. The going vegan isn't about weight loss, it is more about how much I have been schooled by listening to Peter Singers somewhat bulletproof utilitarian approach to ethics. So.. I'm one of those pathetic animal cruelty people :p That it helps me since it cuts away a lot of the foods I used to binge on is just an added bonus. I mean... but on the other hand not having access to chicken, fish etc. lean meat.. is annoying :)

Learned to love:

Anything vegetarian-tofu, veggies, hummus. Try eating at a vegetarian restaurant where people who know what they are doing make the stuff. It is great.
cottage cheese
skim milk

Sometimes foods:

cookies
burgers
desserts in general
beer, alcohol
diet soda

Banned:

pizza, probably my favorite thing in the world :(
ALL fast food
ice cream
candy/junk food
chips

In response to the tacos,..... personally, I LOVE FAJITAS!!!! loaded with veggies, and fresh unprocessed meat! it's a great alternative!

Somehow "fresh unprocessed meat" just sounds... so wrong. Like you just go out back and cut a piece out of the side of your local cow and stick it in there :)

Is that like carpaccio southern style?
Just kidding, really. I'm not really much of a steak eater, and don't like a lot of red in my beef. (medium well, on the very rare occasions I do order steak)
HOWEVER, I do like meat. :drool5: I really don't like fatty meats because they sort of gross me out. but lean meat fills you up, and gives you protein!

Flank steak flattened and rolled with fontina and pesto, seared and then roasted in the oven for a bit is actually quite tasty! Flank steak is also relatively lean, although not chicken breast lean ;)

The more you know!

The banned that I refuse to give up are

Pizza
Kebab
Pies of all kind
Blue cheese
Cheese and ham toast
Bacon
Chocolate cake with cream
Chocolate balls
Chocloate of all kind
and
Alcohol

I would like to be able to have those occacionally

LOL damn pizza is the bane of so many people....

What exactly is cheese and ham toast? Is it literally what I think it is :)

It is white sliced bread with ham and cheese topping baked in the oven. The cheese can be of any kind but should be 30-40% fat to make it juicy. Also the ham can exchanged for some fat sausage like salami or tuna. The topping could also include sliced tomato and/or onions. In short it's kind of a mini pizza. There could be another/better english name for them.
