Chillen! This same thing happens to me when I cut! Except in 7 day segments... and only 1 pound incriments.

For example, I would be at 155 every morning from Monday until Sunday, and then boom, Monday I was at 154 and I never went above it again.

Crazy how that stuff works..

Good to here you recognize it! This is a major hurdle to get over.

Keep the eyes "wide open" and being conistant in its application----pays the hell OFF! In my opinion, it about the "sacrifices" one is "willing" to take to make their personal goals-------some meet them, and some don't.

I have my blood, sweat, tears, and many, many hours, of work involved here.........It wasnt handed to me......just like most things in this life.

SLIDE the "WANT-O-METER" to favor you! YES......SLIDE THAT BABY!

HEHEHHEHE

ROCK THE HECK ON!

Hey Chillen, I hope you're having a nice day!

Even in a deficit I was pushing a 1R max of bench of 340-345 (at 154lbs), and I would think this would be considered quite good (5'7" and 46 years old)

I think that's a pretty sick max for your weight of 154 pounds. I don't know hardly anybody that can max double what they weigh on bench.

Since I have been sick, I havent tested that yet. I am sure I lost some strength in not being able to train for three weeks (and not being able to hold down liquids or foods several times during that same period). However, my 1R isnt my focus and not that important to me. Im just like anyone else, I get the spirit to see what I can do once in a while, and the 345 was in the last of August some time.

On a side note, I was on a zig-zag diet at the time (I didnt want to go into a full surplus, and gain unwanted fat tissue---"however slight", so being in surplus....some of the time, assisted with this a tad, I should add)

I want a ROCK solid and "ripped" old fricken man.....Im going to look better than ever before.....and make the pictures I have posted look like crap.....I am focused, and I......WILL do what it TAKES to see this through.....

why? because I fricken can! thats why.......

No one is gonna tell "me" Im not a fitness freak because my goals are "different" than there's. I assure you, I meet and greet my fitness goals, and then some more......ROCK ON!.........Yes......we do this thing........better than EVER!

I love Leaning down. To most its difficult work. I just see that the deficit diet and training are the tools to get fricken ripped (just like one brings tools to a job, to get the job done--its REQUIRED....get over it), and let me tell you.....the older you get........the harder it truely is, in my opinion.

ROCK ON!

7 Tips For Unstoppable Motivation And Enduring Success

by: Peter Murphy

1. Success is not achieved accidentally. It is a systematic, deliberate process of deciding what you want to do with your life, what you will do when you get there, and what the steps are to get you where you want to be.

One of the most important aspects of success is the ability to visualize your path and stay focused on your goal until you reach it.

2. The sooner you envision your dreams and develop a plan to turn them into reality, the faster you will accomplish your goals. Mental pictures are a mechanism to lead you down the path of true independence and motivation.

Procrastination is a self-defeating behavior that develops in part due to low self-esteem and fear of failure. Your imagination is like a preview of your future.

If you don't use your imagination your life will remain mundane and unfulfilling.

3. Overcoming procrastination is the first step in helping you create the lifestyle you desire. You must change the habits and behaviors that led you to procrastinate in the first place.

Change is a slow process so be sure to reward yourself along the way for small achievements.

Instead of focusing on the difficulty of a large task, break it into smaller jobs and create a timeline for finishing them.

4. Several small jobs done over time are much more manageable that one large task with no end in sight.

You'll be astonished at how much you can get done if you concentrate on one thing at a time instead of cluttering your mind with multiple tasks.

Try tackling the more undesirable tasks early in the day so that by afternoon you can pursue more pleasant activities.

5. Relieve yourself of the pressure created by clutter in your office or home. Develop a filing system, rid yourself of unnecessary papers, and give yourself an organized place to work.

When you exercise self-discipline in your surroundings as well as your behaviors, you will make major strides in accomplishing your goals in a shorter period of time.

No matter what is happening around you, keep your mind focused on the reward you'll receive by reaching your goals.

6. If people or outside forces distract you, use the power of the human mind to block out what impedes your progress and concentrate solely on the task at hand.

You will make remarkable progress by refusing to let others alter the path you have chosen.

Overcoming procrastination and staying motivated is the way to lifetime success and happiness. You'll achieve your goals rapidly when you stay focused on your destination and the rewards that will follow.

7. Review your habits and way of thinking to determine what you are visualizing most of the time. If your visions do not lead you in the direction of accomplishing your goals, then you must change them.

Discipline yourself to concentrate on your goals the majority of the time, and if you stray from the path, get promptly back on.

Imagine what the rewards will be when you finally reach your destination and keep that thought foremost in your mind.

Procrastination is of no use to you in your quest to fulfill your dreams. Lose those old habits and replace them with habits that lead to self-motivation and control over your life.

I wonder if anyone can be "creative" and apply this to fitness:

That One Thing That Guarantees Your Unlimited Motivation And Success

by: Peter Murphy

What can you do when you do not feel like getting started? When procrastination takes over... We all know what that feels like. You sit there staring at the mountain of work in front of you while your mind screens a horror movie of toil and effort.

I am sure you have tried making a list of things to do but the problem is the longer the list the harder it is to get started.

Well, listen I have a very effective remedy you can use whenever you feel this way.

Find That One Thing You CAN Do Now.

Now, it does not matter how small a task that one thing is. Select one thing you feel capable of starting and completing.

Let me give you an example.

Last week I was sitting at my desk ready to get stuck into a new project but I just could not get started and my mind kept wandering.

Then it hit me...

There was such a huge pile of papers, books and notes on my desk that the clutter was driving me crazy.

I picked up that pile of paperwork and deposited it on a different desk in my office.

Notice that I did not sort through the pile and file it away. I did one thing!

Now, at that stage I had started and completed one task that would help me to make progress on my project. I then picked one other thing I could do NOW.

Little by little I found myself starting and making progress on the project without giving myself a hard time.

This is easy to do. And it gives you a sense of achievement and gradual progress towards the successful outcome you have in mind.

You Can Use This Simple Motivation Approach Today...

1. Pick a task you want completed but do not feel like starting.

2. Ask yourself - what is the one thing I CAN do now?

i.e. you feel capable of doing it and it is effortless for you to do so right now.

3. Do it!

4. Repeat step 2. Ask yourself again - what is the one thing I CAN do now?

This works as long as you use these steps without putting yourself under pressure. Remember that even a tiny step forward is still a step forward. And each one builds your confidence.

Do not force yourself to raise the stakes in a big way every time you go back to the question - what is the one thing I CAN do now?

Simply do that one thing you know you can do and repeat the process. You will become more motivated as the momentum builds.

The Truth About Health Success

"Why do I struggle to change when everyone around me does it so easily?" "Why is it so hard for me to stick with my workouts and so simple for others?" "Why can't I make changes like everyone else?"

These thoughts and the many others just like them strike to the heart of a myth that keeps millions from enjoying the health they desire. When the belief is that everyone around you changes with ease, any amount of struggle or setbacks can seem like proof that you don't have what it takes to succeed.

This belief couldn't be farther from the truth.

The reality is that change in any form involves short-term setbacks and struggles. You've established a powerful routine over the years, and changing this pattern is not an easy process for anyone. This might seem like negative news, but in fact it is just the advice you need to hear.

When you truly believe that change and occasional setbacks go hand in hand, you'll never again be thrown off course when one occurs. You won't see an obstacle or problem as proof of your inability to succeed.

Instead, you'll handle it with the wisdom of someone who understands how improvement truly functions. You'll know this is merely part of the game and work to solve the problems you face.

A short-term failure or struggle does not mean you'll never achieve the final result. It does not mean you will always struggle to gain ground. It is only a part of the changing process and proof that you are doing the right things and following the right path.

5 Simple Steps to Student Success

Working toward your degree but struggling with getting yourself to do what it takes to see it through to the end? Finals on the horizon as you're having an impossible time staying committed to studying?

Whether working toward earning high-school diploma or advanced college degree, the student motivation quicktips below will help you kick in the motivation you need to succeed.

WHAT'S THE REWARD?
Behind every successful goal or dream is a powerful reason. It's the lifeblood and energy source of the goal, compelling progress each and every day. So what your reason? What rewards will earning your degree bring into your life? New career opportunities? Increased income potential? Pride of accomplishment?

TUNE IN TO YOUR STYEL
Are you a visual learner? Better at listening to instructions or information? Combination of both? Discover the particular learning style that works best for you and put it to use whenever you're presented with new information. By tuning in to your style, you'll more easily take in, comprehend, and recall the material you need.

LEARN HOW TO STUDY
Chances are good you weren't born with the ability to study, and with most school's leaving this out of the curriculum, it's up to you to learn how. Invest a few hours in a guide to studying and discover the tools and techniques you can apply to increase you effectiveness and efficiency in the classroom.

SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS
If you've ever studied for a test or exam, and you have, you know how easily distractions can creep into the picture can slowly but surely take you away from the task at hand. A simple solution is to shine the light on these time-wasters, discovering what things in particular often take you away from your work and how you can best avoid them during your next study session.

LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES
If you ever toss aside an old assignment or test without looking over your mistakes, you're making another one. In some cases, an error in judgement or memory might lead to a wrong answer, but in others it could be a recurring problem in your work that needs your attention. Learn from your mistakes and you're sure to rise to the top of the class.

What manefests itself within the brain will eventually materialize on the outside.

(Chillen)

=========================================================

What's In It for Me?

Human beings are creatures of reason, although those reasons may not always be evident or logical. Nevertheless, we do what we do because it makes sense at the time. And while this may seem like an obvious point, it's actually among the most powerful principles of human behavior.

In essence, it says that you can get yourself to do anything as long as you can find strong enough reasons to follow through - this is your key to success. By uncovering the answers to "What's in it for me?" in regard to the things you want, you'll have the reasons you need to get yourself to take action.

With one of your most important goals in mind, ask yourself the following...

Identity
How is getting what you want going to improve who you are as a person? Will this be a great victory that adds greatly to your confidence and esteem? One that will fill you with quiet pride and certainty? Also consider, will success give you new skills or experiences the likes of which you've never had? If so, which one exactly? Why will they be important to you?

Health
In what way is achieving your goal going to improve your physical, emotional, or spiritual health? Are you going to live years longer? Have more energy? Less stress? Are you going to be able to handle life's problems in a more balanced and healthy way? Keep your body free from disease and illness?

Relationships
How is success going to improve your relationships? If you achieve the goal, will your family or social life improve in any way? How exactly? If not directly, will it change your mood and attitude thereby improving the state of your relationships as a byproduct?

Career
Is the achievement of your goal going to impact your career? In which specific ways? Is it going to make your current job more enjoyable and satisfying? Open up new opportunities for advancement? Perhaps even pave the way for a brand new direction?

Finances
Finally, how will your finances be affected by success? Will your standard of living get a boost? Will you be able to put money away in savings to cover an unexpected emergency? Into investments or toward a retirement plan? Perhaps give you the ability to contribute to causes you believe in most?

If you spend just a few minutes today writing down the specific answers to these questions, you'll have on paper the source of motivation you need for the life of the goal. When you feel like putting off action - or giving in altogether - a quick glance at your list will be enough to get you back on track.
