To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.

(Steve Roland)

Chillen within Interpretation:

Each of us has been given immeasurable gifts. They are all around us. Some are in clear sight, and some we may not even realize exist. The important thing is, however, to make use of what resources and talents you do have, don’t squander them. Give it 100%, and do it with a smile. Work hard even on simple things, because though they may not matter a great deal to you, they might be life changing for another person. Share the talents you have with others; give them some inspiration. Put some love into it. Live each day to its fullest.

Share your your talents and gifts, people. Make people feel good about themselves! Make our small world a better place to be!

==========================================================

People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing -- that's why we recommend it daily.

(Zig Ziglar)

Chillen within Interpretation:

Makes sense doesn't it? The secret to staying consistent with your goals is to stay motivated. That means finding ways to fire yourself up on a daily basis. Being inspired at a seminar, while reading a book, or talking to a dynamic speaker is easy. But what happens when you're on your own? To follow through on that burst of motivation and reach the finish line, you need regular booster shots. Give yourself those little positive reminders that you have a job to do and a good reason for doing it. What’s pushing you? Is it a specific milestone, your self-esteem, a drive to make a difference? Surround yourself with visual, verbal and physical “pep talks” that trigger that motive. It doesn’t take long for dust to gather on your momentum, making your goals turn stale. A daily dose of motivation kicks off the dust before it can settle and gives you a fresh, clean start.

==========================================================

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.

(Kenneth Blanchard)

Chillen within Interpretation:

Are you interested in your goals, or are you fully committed? One of the most common complaints among goal setters nowadays is that there’s just not enough time to get to the ones that “really matter.” The real culprit is that most people don’t raise their goals beyond the level of general interest. They’re waiting for a vague time in the future when other things won’t get in the way or when they wrap things up. In other words, when it’s more convenient. And of course, that time never comes, does it? If your goals are truly that important to you, don’t let anything stand in your way. You have the power to say ‘no’ and to set your priorities. Make that commitment and you automatically create an obligation that you’re bound to fulfill.

==========================================================

Know the true value of time; snatch, seize and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness…never put off till tomorrow what you can do today

(Lord Chesterfield)

Chillen within Interpretation:

Many of us begin thinking about the true value of time when it is already to late. We notice how much time we’ve wasted at the end of each day. We can think of the ways we used time to do needless worrying, unnecessary complaining, and many other common daily time wasters. Make a new goal to start recognizing the true value of time. Set up a program that will allow you to get your work done and use every extra minute for enjoyment. We all know that procrastination is one of the most common mistakes…stop letting it be one of yours. Do what you need to do each day in order to account for every minute in a positive way.

==========================================================

Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.

I WILL NEVER HAVE A WRINKLED SOUL! NO WAY! NOT HAPPENEN!

Chillen within Interpretation:

Think about looking in a mirror. How many of us get depressed when we notice a new gray hair or a new wrinkle in our forehead? Now, take a moment to think about what you can’t see in a mirror…are you allowing wrinkles to appear in your soul? There are many ways that this can happen from worrying too much to not pursuing a life of purpose. One of the most common ways to wrinkle the soul is to give up enthusiasm. You should always be trying to show enthusiasm for whatever you do. Sometimes this is difficult…we might not like our job or we might be having difficulties in our personal life. When there is a bump in the road, one of the easiest ways to get back on track is to have enthusiasm.

==========================================================

A man who wants something will find a way; a man who doesn’t will find an excuse.

(Stephen Dolly)

It’s been said that some of the smartest people around would make lousy entrepreneurs. How can that be? The problem is, some people are so smart they can easily see all of the problems, roadblocks and snafus that they’ll need to overcome to succeed. They can think of all kinds of reasons why their idea won’t work. This knowledge can overwhelm any thoughts of possibilities or dreams. When you set goals, do you focus on the positives of making it happen, or the negatives of potential barriers? To reach your goals, you gotta really want them. More importantly, you gotta really believe that you can do it. Think more about why you CAN make it happen instead of why you can’t. No more excuses.
=========================================================

BELIEVE YOU CAN DO IT! MAKE IT HAPPEN! NO MORE EXCUSES!

I BELIEVE IN YOU and so does everyone on the forum!

ROCK ON!

Yes..........TAKE THE F--CK Off! :)FLY BABY!

Hope your day goes well today. I wish you no troubles nor pain. No Sress no anxiety.

Great quotes Chillen. Thanks again for the motivating posts. Greg

January 8th, 2008: Thoughts for the day (2)

READ THIS CAREFULLY------PEOPLE!

When I am anxious it is because I am living in the future. When I am depressed it is because I am living in the past.

(Unknown, Chillen modified)

Let's Chill with some interpretation:

Do you worry about what is going to happen in the future, or have sad regrets about the past? Take today to just concentrate on the present. It’s great to learn from the past and to plan for the future, but what is happening right now is what really matters. The past has come and gone and the future holds no guarantees. Today is the most important day. So begin each day with a plan. What do you want to accomplish today? Workout? Eat healthy? Play with your kids? Daily, small goals will help you in the long run achieve your dreams. Concentrate on the “now”.

==========================================================

Anyone can become angry – that is easy, but to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way – this is not easy.

(Aristotle)

Let's Chill with some interpretation:

How often have you said something you wish you could take back or written an email that you wish you wouldn’t have sent? Sometimes when we are angry, we react too fast. We don’t take the time to cool down and think about why the problem is occurring. It is important to learn and practice stress management techniques so that we don’t regret using anger as a remedy after the fact.

==========================================================

When things go wrong--->Dont go with them

(Elvis Presely)

(a rather interesting comment from him....maybe after his fried PB and bananas)

Let's Chill with some interpretation:

Does it ever feel like trouble follows you around and won’t cut you any slack? Sometimes it feels like you can’t buy a break and everything you try just makes things worse. Who could blame you for feeling sorry for yourself or not forgive a little self-destructive behavior? Bad idea. The new way to spend down times is to lift yourself up and operate at a higher level. Remember that what happens to you is not who you are. It’s history. It’s past. Your true self takes that history and decides how to make the best possible future out of it. You have the power to keep your attitude and values from driving into the ditch along with the events in your life. From defeat, you can still emerge victorious.
==========================================================

Life is like a "cactus" but you dont have to sit on it.

(Unknown)

Let's Chill with some interpretation:

You forgot to set your alarm, your keys have once again dissolved into the fourth dimension, your car won’t start, your coworkers are driving you nuts, there’s a huge traffic jam on the way home, the dog left you a present on the carpet while you were at work, and you have nothing to make for dinner. And it’s only 5:30pm!! Sometimes it just seems the worst is hot on your trail, and only bad can happen. Unfortunately, it’s true-bad things will happen once and a while; and it can seem as though those misfortunes are all attacking at once. When this situation does come along, you just have to stop what you’re doing and get that racing, negative out of your system. Try going to a place where no one else is (like an empty room or quiet spot outside). Take about ten minutes and just focus on positive aspects of your life. Think about your family, your friends, a great goal you’ve achieved, a recent wedding or birth, your good health or even an award you won. Take that time to tell yourself that whatever is going wrong at that moment, can be fixed. It’s temporary feeling, and in no time at all, things are going to change. It’s not until you convince yourself that things are going to turn around, that things actually WILL start looking up.

==========================================================

A camel is a HORSE designed by a comittee

(Sir Elec)

Let's Chill with some interpretation:

When it comes to your life and what you stand for, there can only be one designer – you. Sure, consulting with others and learning as much as you can from their character and mistakes is valuable. But when outside opinions start to sneak their way into your value system, it can warp into something you never wanted. Sometimes you might not even notice it happening. Stand your own ground and work hard to make up your own mind. Take a few moments each day or each week to think about how you’re spending your time, and see if you can spot some ‘committee’ decisions in there. If you’re not happy with the horse you’re running, feed it, heal it, train it. But don’t let anyone convince you to create the camel that they would rather see.
==========================================================

Feed yourself. Train yourself. Heal yourself.

And, your BEST SELF will come out and grow!

ROCK ON! TODAY!

Lol, I was going to post the 'designed by committee' quote in your log and say it's one you should feature and the you go and stick it up anyway. It's like we had a telepathic moment, I just told you to add it in via brainwaves ;)

I added that quote in my sig about 5 minutes before you added it to your log - I love that quote!

“When eating a fruit, think of the person who planted the tree.”

(a Vietamese saying)

Lets chill in some breif interpretation:

How often do you remember the people that have made things possible for you? It is easy to take our privileges for granted. Over the next couple days, try to be aware of your surroundings and who has made them possible for you. Everything from the food you eat to the place you live. How have you been able to receive such wonderful things? One way to let someone know that you truly appreciate their efforts is to send them a quick note or return the kindness.

Is life throwing MUD IN YOUR EYE?!

When you’re riding, only the race in which you’re riding is important.

(Wille Shoemaker)

Let us be a chillen in some interpretation:

Thundering hoofs inches away, mud flying in your eyes, riding crops whistling past your ear. With distraction like these, how can anyone be expected to keep his/her eyes on the finish line? But the fact is, when things are the craziest is exactly when you need to focus the most. Jockeys and other athletes perfect the art of tunnel vision. They see their goal and are able to shut everything else out. They know that watching the scoreboard or thinking about their next game will only hurt their performance. When your world is in chaos, when life is flinging mud in your eye, step back and make sure your goals are still in focus. You’ve chosen which race you want to run. No other race can count – so don’t get caught watching another one. There are no grandstands, there are no cameras, there are no frenzied throngs betting on your success or failure. There’s only you, the finish line, and a clear, direct path to get there.

True enjoyment comes from activity of the mind and exercise of the body; the two are ever united.

(Humbolt)

Let us be a chillen in some interpretation:

Have you ever felt butterflies in your stomach before a big presentation? If you have, then you know that the stomach listens to the brain. When a person continuously stimulates their mind and exercises their body, they will find that they are better equipped to handle any hurdles that arise. There are a number of exercises that you can use on a daily basis to stimulate your mind. For example, you may keep a journal, put a puzzle together, or listen to jazz music without lyrics. Most people know that exercising the body is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. There are many small activities that you can do everyday to get your body moving.

Hey chillen,

Nice post today!

Your posts are always so helpful and inspirational. I just wanted to thank you for taking all of the time to make them.

As you know, my life has taken some nice positive turns lately (like the new boyfriend) and I can't blame it on luck or chance.

Some of the things your posts have taught me about taking initiative have really helped me a lot. Had I not taken the initiative to get out there, I would have still been alone and feeling sorry for myself. I realized that the same enthusiasm that I have for fitness can help me in other areas of my life. For a while I was off balance, placing too much of an emphasis on the fitness stuff. But now, I'm doing a lot better and I feel a lot better about myself.

Thanks, from the bottom of my heart, chillen!

The spicy health hen is very happy!

You are welcome, SP.

I wish you much happiness in life and with your new boyfriend.

Thank you very much for your kind words, they encourage me.

Keep your internal spirit strong. Keep seeking happiness, peace and joy.

January 10, 2008: Thoughts for the day

Those of you that have seen my posts on the forum should know I believe that one main ingredient in Wisdom is "Learning How to Master yourself", the following quote from (Jim Rohn) is EXCELLENT:

Emotions will either Serve or Master, depending on who is in Charge

WHO is in charge brotha and sista's?!

Do EMOTIONS Serve YOU or do they Master you?

==========================================================

"No bird soars too high if he soars with his own wings."

Body weight is maintaining, body fat is dropping. Things are going well. Pics to follow in short while. So be looking! They are forth coming! HEHEHE :) I keep on smoken! YES!.........

Decided to break my personal record in cardio today. I did two sessions before work. One at 25M and another at 30m (5.6 intensity, 17mph). I plan to do two more after work, to accomplish in breaking my personal record. And, this is a guy that HATES cardio brotha and sista's! Its also a weight training day. Therefore my calorie intake will be higher than normal while still maintaining my deficit balance. No need at the present to alter the diet, body fat is dropping without much of a problem at the moment. This surprises me, but I will take it as I really dont want to go into a low-carb diet--unless it proves necessary. I like my carbs! But, will adjust by lowering them if I cant get below 8%. Thus far its GREAT!

One man's creativity is another's brain damage

(Fredrick Wilhelm)

Let us CHILL in taking a look at one interpretation:

If you accept someone else's idea of reality and personal limits, you'll have no control over your own destiny. You can only go as far as that view will let you. Do you normally accept things as they are, or do you ask "why" and "what if"? Being an individual and thinking for yourself even while others are calling you crazy takes courage. For many, trying a new perspective is scary. But if we always stick to the familiar, the known, we never grow and learn. Don't be afraid to go against the grain. Ask the tough questions that everyone else is afraid to ask. Try a new way to do the same thing just to see what happens -- we guarantee you that the world won't end. You'll see solutions that nobody else would see if they're all looking at a problem the same way. Practice new ways to combine unrelated objects. After all, somebody had to try peanut butter and jelly for the first time. :) :) I am glad they did, HEHEHEHE.

==========================================================

He who does not mind his belly will hardly mind anything else

(Unknown)

What is one way to interpret this? Let's Chill and find out:

Proper nutrition can be a foundation for healthy living. Take a second and compare your body to a car. Your car needs the right amount of gas and periodic tune-ups to make it run smoothly. Your body needs healthy food and periodic check-ups too. Make a goal to start treating your body the right way. Take care of yourself. Eat the right foods and make sure you get to the doctor for regular check-ups. If you start maintaining and tracking your progress, you will probably see dramatic positive results

==========================================================

Don’t let yesterday use up too much of today

What is one way to interpret this? Let's Chill and find out:

Bad days are bound to happen to everyone. You could be having the best week of your life, only to have some calamity smack you right in the forehead. But is this the end-all and be-all? Probably not. If you wake up the next day and the sun has risen, chances are you will be just fine. Work to fix whatever problems you may have encountered, but don’t let them take a central role in your life. Do whatever it takes to resolve the issue and move on. Maybe that means not being too proud to apologize, or maybe even humble enough to accept an apology. You can make it work. Each day is a new opportunity; make as much use of it as you can.

==========================================================

When you stand still, you reject the struggle, and you refuse to change and grow. Ultimately, you reject fulfillment, happiness, the dance for joy and everything else that is eternally good.

(Unknown)

What is one way to interpret this? Let's Chill and find out:

Action is the only way anything ever gets done. Sitting around and waiting for life to happen to you will only guarantee one thing: that you’re not going to end up with a life you love. By waiting, you can react to what’s tossed your way and nothing more. It’s easy to take a passive approach to life without taking chances. It’s easy to fall into a rut and do the same things the same way all the time. Change is what’s hard, but it’s change that will reveal all the wonders that life has to offer. You can break out of your set ways by taking action. Try doing the same thing a different way. Jump in with both feet and learn something new. Ask a friend to teach you a skill they’re good at. Grow as a person and your world grows with you.

==========================================================

If stupidity got us into this mess, then why can't it get us out?

(Unknown)

What is one way to interpret this? Let's Chill and find out:

Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone is capable of doing something immensely stupid. (Some of us may feel more “capable” than others.) But everyone is also capable of learning from their blunders and making a fresh start. Yes, even the most thick-headed person has hope. Have you ever bungled something so bad that you actually felt ashamed? You might still wish that you could have that moment back to do things differently. We all have those moments. And even the smallest mistakes can be upsetting. There is a way to recover. It takes learning and it takes smarts. If you use that error to make your future better, you just got a little smarter. So you might say that part of your intelligence and success comes from stupidity. Just don’t be stupid in the same way twice.

==========================================================

You've got to think about 'big things' while you're doing small things, so that all the small things go in the right direction.

(Alvin Toffler)

Let Chillen Chill you with an option on how to view this:

Do you ever think about your “big picture” goal? Are your small daily tasks helping you get there? It is important to know what you want to accomplish and to periodically check to make sure that your daily actions are helping you reach success. Goal setting is an important part of being a great leader. You must learn how to set a long-term goal and break it down into medium and short-term goals. Once you start breaking things down into manageable daily actions, your big goal becomes easier to achieve.

==========================================================

To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent.
--Buddha

What we think, we become.

==========================================================

I used to say, 'I sure hope things will change.' Then I learned that the only way things are going to change for me is when I change.
--Jim Rohn

If you care at all you will get some results. If you care enough you will get incredible results!
--Jim Rohn

If you go to work on your goals, your goals will go to work on you. If you go to work on your plan, your plan will go to work on you. Whatever good things we build end up building us.
--Jim Rohn
==========================================================

I leave you with this thought:

The best motivation is self-motivation. One person says, "I wish someone would come by and turn me on!"

What if they don't show up?

===========================================================
I hope this day finds you all well. I wish you all much happiness and joy. May no bad luck or mishaps enter your life. I wish that your internal spirt will rise up and meet and exceed all of your personal expectations and aspirations you want and desire.

I wish you the absolute best in life,

You have read this quote from me many times, and I have stated this quote in many posts on the forum:

"If you fall 7 times get up 8"

Here are some thoughts on it:

Your goals – if worthwhile – will not come easy. There is no accomplishment without work, and no “win” without something to beat.

It’s easy to get discouraged when roadblocks appear-it’s only natural.

You’ve invested time and emotion into creating the perfect plan, and then something has to come along and muck it all up. Sometimes, though, all you have to do to beat that barrier is to get back up and move forward again. Goal obstacles are like the Wizard of Oz – they’re a lot less intimidating once you see them up close. Next time you take a step back, don’t let guilt pile it on top of your previous “stumbles”.

Just take two steps forward and you’re still further along than you were before. It doesn’t matter how many walls you face. You only have to get the better of that last one.

If you fall.........get the hell back up.

Being defeated is often temporary, giving up makes it permanent.

Dont let failures draw the line in the sand for additional progress. Failures can do just this. They can STOP ANY FURTHER potential for progress in the goals you seek. And, YOU decide which happens.

When you fail do you find it hard to get back up? If you do, you are completely normal. Many people use failure as an excuse to give up. It is important to understand that failure is a part of the growth process. Think about this example. How many times does a small child fall over before they finally stand and eventually walk? It is countless, but somewhere along the way, most of us lose that ambition to keep trying until you succeed. The next time you are defeated, think about it as part of a process. Get up and try again and again until you move forward.

ALWAYS FIGHT!

We generally hear about how persistence is often the key to success.
But what do you do when you've been striving for so long that it seems like your goal is never going to see light? How do you deal with the fear that you're about to fail? Simple - Give it just one more shot.

And then one more. Think about the sweat and time you've committed already. You've come this far, you'd be unfair to yourself if you quit without a fight.

Even if the odds are way out of your favor and you can't see how it can possibly help, reach out and take one last swing. You never know what will happen. Glory and big achievements don't happen when everything goes your way. How many times have you seen people in sports make miraculous winning shots that seemed impossible?

Sometimes, you can find victory in the effort.

ALWAYS FIGHT!

If you aren't fired with enthusiasm, you will be fired with enthusiasm.

==========================================================

“All problems become smaller if you don’t dodge them, but confront them. Touch a thistle timidly, and it pricks you; grasp it boldly and its spines crumble.”

(William S)

We continue with some though processes:

Your worst fears are usually the ones that never happen. Unfortunately, they’re also the ones that keep you from trusting yourself and your abilities. Doesn’t it seem silly to give up in the face of something that may be no more real than the fairy tale troll that lives under the bridge? If you approach a possible roadblock with hesitation, it might resist and break your resolve. But if you step forward with confidence, you can climb that wall, even one inch at a time, and pull yourself over the top. Confidence is what it’s all about. Facing problems builds it, and lets you know that you can take on anything that comes along. The unknown monster under the bed is always scarier than the dust bunny reality.

==========================================================

The principle is competing against yourself. It’s about self-improvement, about being better than you were the day before.

(S. Young)

Do you hold yourself to the standards of other people, wishing you could be better than the next guy? Maybe this is motivating you, but an even greater skill is to just want to be better than yourself. How about pushing yourself to eat better, or walk longer after dinner each day? Goal setting is a great way to “compete” against yourself. You select the end result that you want in any concentration that you choose. Then, it is up to you, and only you, to work to achieve those goals. Thus, you’ll be pushing yourself towards greatness, not creating unnecessary competition against others.

TODAY you are better than yesterday! BELIEVE!

Best wishes to all of you!

We shall see, I am right at the threshold where it occurred before or just a tad passed.

In any event, as long as I see a DROP, I will not STOP unless the current manipulation of diet v exercise are personally determined a FLOP, then I may have to carb CROP to cause a FLIP-FLOP so fat loss will continue to POP. HEHEHEHHEHEHE :)

I am maintaining 161 to 162 "flex" in the morning weigh the past two weeks, and body fat has dropped (as checked last week friday). Today since I am doing 4 cardio sessions, (a goal I made to break my personal record), this constitutes "approximately" 800c in extra calories burned. I adjusted my diet accordingly (in other words I was allowed to eat more while still keeping appropriate deficits).

I dont overally concern myself on whether I am in the fat burning zone. I just pay attention to how much I am breathing and the intensity and duration. I just figure that if I just DO IT and pay attention, the diet V activity ratio will take care of itself, and if I am in the burning zone, then this is just an added benefit in a deficit environment, and it will just flat take care of itself. And it has.

For example, today with work, weight training (upper), and 4 cardio sessions, My personally adjusted MT LINE is 3400c. I will back off -600c. I will not being doing 4 Cardio sessions all the time. It was just something I wanted to accomplish. But, it has allowed me to eat more (and has the benefit of staving off hunger, etc), and assists with my mental bouts I have with cardio. I love using cardio to manipulate calories when I have a desire to eat more. It is one thing I use to keep my eye on the fire. When its not broken, we do not fix. :) And, I have it right for myself, baby!

Thanks Drex for you kind words! It means alot to me! :)
