Weight-Loss Tea Talk

Weight-Loss
I drank a lot of tea yesterday for comfort.
A 4 day severe thunderstorm has been brewing (no pun intended) and the one that came through yesterday was the worst yet. I went outside and most of my vegetables were blown over. *sad*. I picked them all up and replanted them as the rain poured down and the winds (55mph) tried to knock me over. I was running back and forth getting yarn to tie the plant babies to stakes to keep them standing. Debri flew over my head and I was nearly pushed over by an aloe plant torpedo.... It was an awful scene. I hope they revive themselves. Plants are resilient that way.

After the storm was over my husband and I went driving to our nearest Asian market but along the way there were so many fallen trees in the road to avoid. Traffic signals were out and we all had to use intersections as four-way stops. Road signs were pulled out of the ground and thrown randomly around. It's scary.

I thought to myself "was I really outside in this as it was going on?!". I guess I was so frantic about the vegetable garden I didn't take better concern of my own safety. That wasn't smart.

I drank tea for relaxation and even though it's another day of severe thunderstorms and there's even a tornado warning right now... I ok^_^

Wow it sounds like you're really having a bad storm there. It's over 90 here in Az with clear blue sky's. You better stay in. I hope your garden comes back ok.
It is almost 7pm here and it's still 88 out. I had my air conditioners serviced monday so I'm ready for the heat. My pool is also all ready to swim in. If this heat keeps up I can always start swimming. I don't mind the heat until it get's over 110 then it starts feeling hot! I drank all my Camoflauge Tea so I'll have to make more tonight.
Oh and I walked and hiked 92 miles for the month of March.

Hey I knew a woman who used to dress up like that just to do her yard work. She would wear dresses and heals to mow her lawn! We always found it strange. She was from England.

Yesterday Phoenix broke a record for April 1 it was 100 out. Now it only got to 96 where I'm at. I drank a lot of iced tea yesterday. I worked outside until 11am spraying weeds. Got that all done. I didn't walk in the evening because it was a little warm out by then. Instead I did a lot of housework.

I've never heard of Barry's tea. Whats it like? And Rice milk, I've never had it although I have seen it in the stores. Maybe I should try rice milk sometime.

I looked up reviews on Barry's Tea and on the few sites I looked at it got all fives out of five. I've never heard of this tea before. Maybe I'll try it one day.

So I did a steep challenge. I tested to see how many times I could steep the same tea bag and not lose more than 75% of the flavor.

Tazo Zen- 3 times
Tazo Ginger- 4 times
Teavana Peppermint- 2.5 times

Every new steep needed at least 2 extra minutes it seems. But when they hit their limit...it was like drinking water that aspires to be tea when it grows up.

I may do more tomorrow. I drank a lot of tea in the past two days lol ^_^

When I make iced tea I put in a couple of bags and let it steep for several hours then add water to make it just the right straighth.
I'm having a hard time with my motivation for hiking the last couple of days. I think It might be because it's getting warm or maybe it was the $8,000 it's going to cost to have my roof repaired and re-coated! I wanted to get a retainer wall and an area around my pool redone BUT I have to do the roof instead. That means it I want the pool area redone I'll be doing the work myself! OH WELL...I guess it will be good exercise doing lots of hard labor. LOL

I'll need lots of good strong iced tea!

Things know just when to break down don't they. :banghead:

Just an FYI

Tea Tree Oil is not from the Tea Plant that's used to make tea (Camellia sinensis). Tea Tree Oil comes from a plant in Australia. It's taken from the Melaleuca alternifolia leaves.

Living out here in the desert you learn...It may not rain too often but when it does it pours!

Oh well, at least I have a roof to fix.

I have some Tea Tree oil. I bought it for my toe nails. Keeps stuff from trying it grow on them when my feet sweat. Works good.

I've only drank my morning tea today. I think I'm going to try another brand of Earl Gray. I used to drink Twinning then changed to Bigalow but I think it's time to change brands. Any suggestions? I like it real strong.

I'm a black tea fiend myself. My absolute favourite is Whittard of Chelsea's Ceylon tea (although it's rather expensive), and I've been trying different varieties of store brand loose leaf tea (I use a tea infuser from an English company, looks like a stein, leaves float around in the water and then it comes out a valve in the bottom and you don't get leaves in your tea. Gives more flavour than a regular tea infuser, although also more washing up). Am quite taken with Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Ceylon as well (more affordable than Whittard's, almost as nice), and Rington's more expensive tea (e.g. English breakfast) is fairly nice too (their cheaper stuff is ok, nothing to write home about, but very cheap). When I go to Australia in July I'm hoping to get my hands on some T2 tea, I love it (also expensive). I wasn't terribly taken with Waitrose's English breakfast loose leaf- it's reasonably cheap and ok, but it's nothing to write home about.

If I want the hot drink without the caffeine I'll go for Twining's herbal infusions (particularly peppermint, ginger and lemon, and echinacea and raspberry- the latter isn't as thin as some of the others), which are reasonably low in calories.

I also make my own ice tea. I haven't looked at the calories in it, but it can't be that many (particularly as compared to the pre-made stuff)- I make a pot of tea strong, leave it to cool, and add the same again of water, and about a quarter of the mix of no-added-sugar lemon squash/ cordial (I've tried it with lemon juice, but then I need to add sugar). For a twist, add mint (dried is fine) to the tea while it's brewing (if you don't have a teapot, make it in a saucepan). Then stick it in the fridge. You could substitute other flavours of cordial/ squash (as the commercial ones do- peach, lime, etc), but lemon is my favourite.

I hear that the Yorkshire brand makes their tea strong.

Also, amy1985 brings up another brand that has a variety of strong teas too. Whittard of Chelsea has English/Irish Breakfast, Assam, Earl Grey and Russian Caravan (all loose or bagged) included in their strong selection.

I heard on the news that a bunch of severe storms were coming through the US soon and I immediately thought of you. I thought "oh know! BigLyn's roof!" But I checked around and I don't think it's going to be hitting Phoenix. Except for Friday's rain and Saturdays thunderstorm you shouldn't get the worst of it. ^_^ That's good.

Thanks! In terms of tea storage (have been reading through the thread as a whole after jumping in like that), I use a tin from Rington's which has two lids and so is quite airtight (except for the air in the tin). I used to store loose tea just in its bag, and I find the tea I store in the tin remains fresh (well, for the week-month that I take to go through a bag). They're only 2 pounds, which I consider a bargain (they hold 125g of tea easily, nearly 250g)- don't want to link as I'm not trying to spam, but it can be found easily from that information I think. (Not sure if you can get it/ anything like it outside the UK)

I don't know if there's any science to this, but I find the only thing that helps me with minor nausea (I ate a horrible ready meal today because I needed lunch and had forgotten to eat before I left home, really am paying for this) is peppermint tea. I know ginger's meant to be good for it as well, but I have a bit of a history with ginger (my mum gave me some supplements with them when I was a teenager, which had concentrated liquid ginger inside them, sometimes would burst in my mouth- just thinking about it brings on the gag reflex...) so I can't drink ginger anything unless I'm not at all under the weather.

Hi Amy,
Peppermint is soothing to the stomach.
I haven't been on for a few days but I'm still drinking my tea each day. I drank a lot of tea yesterday. It was cold and rainy so I didn't even get dressed. I just stayed in my pj's all day and enjoyed the cool weather.
But today was sunny and cool so I went on a 5 1/2 hr hike up a very steep mountain.

Hey Emerald,
How's the garden. Is it doing OK now? What a switch we had here. A week ago 96 out and yesterday it never got above 46 here and there was snow on the hill's around here!. It will be hot again soon enough!
Anyway that means I can enjoy some hot tea this evening.

No leaks in roof during this past rain. I get it inspected every couple of years so I can hopefully avoid a mess. I'm just going to get the whole roof redone. That's going to cost $15,000. Sigh......
Oh well I'd rather do it now than wait for a leak. My formal living room ceiling is all wood and this house has a lot of woodwork inside that I don't want to risk getting stained. I live in a Southwestern, territorial style home, also referred to as a Santa fay style.
