Cohen's Lifestyle Starting on the road to...

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
lol yes I would have given anything for a tiny taste of chocolate this week.

Well week 1 is officially over~! And my weight loss was 4.9kg :hurray: but in all honesty I had hoped for more. Anyway it is a good number. I lost 16.5cm in total too which is great and a whopping 5cm from my already depleted bust! But I think it is mainly my back area cos I still have my fried eggs. haha

So now the questions!
1. should I expect a smaller loss next week, and those following that?

2. Is 4.9kg a "typical" loss for first week?

3. How long in reality will this journey take?! (I was hoping 4 months, is that realistic?)

OK that is all. I have an appointment at the Cohen's clinic soon so better go find my little muchkins and get everyone showered and dressed, the house tidy and my lunch meat de-drosting... ta ta.

Hi Jen

Fantastic, wow what a great effort, you should be so pleased with yourself.:hurray:

I would suggest that each week will be a little less, it has been so far for me. But it will go up and down wk to wk. If you are weighing weekly then some weeks might very small as you body runs on a 4 wk cycle and usually around TOM you have more water retension so less weight loss. If you want to see great results they suggest that you only weigh once a mth.

However if you really want to see you size going down the best way to keep an eye is on your measurement. As this really shows your body getting smaller.

I have looked back over other peoples results and have calculated that the average weight loss per week over the entire program from start to goal is averaged out at approx 1.5-1.8kg a week. So I have made myself and Excel spreadsheet and average my weightloss at 1.7kg a week from the start and compare where I am on weigh in's to where I would have expected to be based on the 1.7kg average and so far I am 3.8kg ahead of the average. I expect to see this go up for a while and then as I get closer to my goal it will probably reduce as I stabilise and loose less per week. This was if I only loose half a kg in a week I can reassure myself that I am still ahead or on target to my average target for the duration of the program.

The start is alway more weightloss due to the water loss, and will get a little smaller, but so much better than the average for most other diets that average between 0.5 to 1kg a week.

Anyway congrats for the first week effort that is fantastic. Keep up the great work.

:waving:

Thanks Sal. ;)

Well my mum has signed-on to Cohen's now! So that's exciting cos we can do it together. We are really close and I am so happy to have her on board. She only has 15kg to lose so will finish way before me but I am excited to see her re-feeding plan and how she does it.

I am still battling my inner-demon :reddevil: the stupid voice that keeps telling me I am not losing weight and that on Monday I will have no lose. Look, I know it's stupid but it is not fun always stressing. I think maybe after a few weeks I will relax a bit... here's hoping anyway!

I guess thats something about me you will pick-up. I am a stress-head. I am OCD. And a control freak. lol I think the last two of those actually helps on this plan but the stressing doesn't! I usually deal with my stress by going out for a coffee and cake. haha Oh, did I mention I have a 3 year old and a 23 month old? Yeah, that really helps with the stress. :willy_nilly:

My son started kinder this year so I have found I am in and out a lot more. I love being busy, so thats good. I decided my daughter needed something fun we could do together cos I felt like she was missing out when Zeke was at kinder so we started music and movement classes yesterday. It was a blast and she had a ball. After I met some of the other mums at McDonalds :)eek:) and bought her a cone (I still thought they were 30 cents! lol But apparently not. 50 cents now) and I got myself..................a......................PEPPERMINT TEA! YAY! I felt so great to sit in there and not want that crap and just awesome.

Well, I have to go shower. Rory the racing cars on and means I get 5 mins of peace! I will check in on everyones diarys soon I promise! Just need to find a few spare seconds in the day... HUGS everyone. :waving:

Jen-.........you will get slim if you stick to Cohens. Trust us!!
.............you went to McDonalds & only had a Peppermint tea-
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!:hurray:
Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!:hurray:
Well done!!!!!!!!!!:hurray:
Marvellous effort!!!!!!!!!!!!:hurray:
I can't change my font to a larger size- very frustrating!!Cheers, Cate.

Thanks so much Cate! XXX

All is going well. Can't wait to weigh and measure on Monday. I have decided I will do it weekly. It's a vast improvement on my serial-weighing past and I really "need" it.

Had my hair done today! Feels so nice to do something for myself. I am missing my "treats" of cake & coffee not so much for the foods but because that was my "reward" for surviving another week of mothering two toddlers. So I am determined to treat myself with better things now. Next week I am having a mani & a bikini wax. The week after I prob need new jeans cos mine are falling off!!! Yay!!! Goodbye size 18 FOREVER.

I have done a whole heap of baking this week and not deviated at all. I am off to make choc chip muffins now. I feel so strong. It is just so empowering . Yay me. haha

Hi Jen, Well done again! Just noticed your start date on your weight-loss ticker says March '08. I hadn't noticed it before, cheers, Cate.

Hi Jen!

Congrats on your amazing results! Each time I go out with family, friends or co-workers and I'm able to just have coffee, or drink my water I feel a bit stronger. I see I'm not alone in that regard :) I know exactly how you feel with the stressing about losing weight. I'm normally on the scale at least 3 times a day just to make sure that I'm not gaining weight. After my meeting with my consultant I'm not allowed to weigh for another 4 weeks. Even after losing 10kg in the first month, I'm sitting here drinking my water wondering if I'm actually losing weight. :) I think its because you get so accustomed to diets not working for the long haul. :) Luckily, after looking through the before and Afters (especially Cate and Lauren's pictures) I know it will work for me and you too. :)

End of week 2!

Thanks so much everyone. This site is awesome support. It's amazing how similar and yet how different we all are on this road to healthy lives.

All I can say is WOW!!:hurray:
Cheers, Cate.

I know when you put it like that it is awesome isn't it! ;)

Just dropped my little guy off at kinder. Have a busy afternoon planned if my baby girl would wake up! Off to dancing soon for her then to collect Zeke, then mum's coming over for a coffee. Then I need to cook dinner, oh just remembered I need tortillas for the enchilada thingo's I'm making the family. Then I need to cook and then finally the real estate agent is coming so we can start the process of listing our house for sale! Yay! We have been renovating for 2 years now and have about a month left. I just can't wait to move and settle.

Well better go... take care all. XXX

Now, if only you could stay off those scales for just 2 little weeks.......LOL, xo Cate

Just checking in quickly before Lost starts... everything going well. No deviations. I am feel great, look better and am really quite enjoying life more. Keeping myself busy cooking masterpieces for the family dinner and yet I am so content with my meals. I feel thinner in lots of different places too, which is awesome. I just really want to hit 10kg for the 4 weeks (secretly hoping for 15kg but thats probably unrealistic) so fingers crossed. The one thing I do find slightly frustrating is not being able to really contribute to the weight loss. That probably sounds weird but I feel like I should hit the gym to make it happen faster but then I can't... anyway I think I can hear my show starting! Take care all. :) Jen XXX

Friday today. I am SO BORED :banghead: My darling husband has gone to the cricket so he took my car cos it's better for driving in the city. Anyway, his car is a ute so we can't use that and I really don't feel like a walk. The pram tires are flat and I have no-where to walk to anyway. I would normally walk to McDonald's for a coffee but that yummy vanilla latte might be just a bit too tempting today so I am staying away! :reddevil:

Just did some more baking with the kids. This diet has been the "awakening" I needed and I rid my house of many unhealthy snack foods I am ashamed to say we all used to eat. So I have been doing loads of baking so the kids have still got yummy things to eat but they are not full of preservatives and color. I must say the made the transition fairly smoothly! I was pleasantly surprised. The hardest thing is not being able to taste things to make sure they are nice! I just inflict the poor kids, hubby and my guests and hope it all doesn't taste like cardboard! lol So I made some healthy muslie bars and a carrot cake with the help of my 3 year old. :drool5: and it all looks scrummy! But I am not tempted at all.

I am actually forgetting to eat. It was nearly half past 1 before I realized I had not had lunch. I threw together some cauliflower and cheese so I can have dinner before 7pm at least.

Well think that's all to report. ;)

Hi Jen

Just checking into see how your going. Don't worry too much about how fast you are losing the important thing is you are. Cohens is a restrictive plan but it really does work and the other thing you and others will notice in time is how much more youthful your appearance will become. I remember looking about at the before and after shots and wondered were thiese actually the same people.
I see you also watch Lost....I am a huge fan. I think this is the best season yet, but I wish I knew what was going on.
Hope you have a nice Sunday with the family.

Sam:)

Hi Jen, I think you are doing really well. Your whole attitude changes on Cohen's once you get "in the zone." It is great to take charge of your health & I'm sure your family will benefit in more ways than one. Not buying packaged food, with all of the additives & cooking, especially with your kids "helping," is also good for everyone. I also like the feeling when you realise that you can resist. It used to make me feel strong (& occasionally a little self-righteous. Just knowing that you could do it!) I used to remind myself that it would all be there at the end & "that nothing tastes as good as slim will feel" but the funny thing is food's hold over me has diminished. I now look at it as fuel for my body. I hate the thought of putting junk food in my body now. Keep up the good work & may it stay easy breezy for you, cheers, Cate.

Yesterday was a hard day for some reason. I don't know if it's because it's the weekend maybe and used to be a pig-out day! :) But anyway I struggled a bit and my cauliflower soup didn't fill me up much for dinner so I was hungry. Also have a lot going on at the moment and the stress doesn't help cos when I feel stressed, guess what I do (or used to do!) Regardless of all that I pulled through and today's been a much nicer day. Stayed in my pj's till lunch and then just tidied the house before taking my son to his sports this afternoon.

Of course today is THE day I weigh and measure and drum roll please..... I lost 2.2kg this week and another 8.5cm! Yay me! So that brings my thre week total to 8.9kg and 30cm. I'll add the breakdown in a sec.

I also joined the "other" board and have been trying to keep up! lol not an easy feat. Still there are so many inspirational stories on there. So if I take a little longer to write in everyones diaries thats why!

Take care all. XXX
