run 45 min 9min pace
swim 1500 boring yards
Heart wasn't in it today. I had good intentions of running and hour, swimming an hour but I just got bored and unmotivated after about 40 min of running. I didn't do those swim laps continuous. I did a little set here, a little set there. boring.
I ran into Mr Motivation today. Maybe mentioned him a time or two. He is one of our spin instructors who unfortunatly doesn't host very many classes but he is awesome. He is a motivational speaker as his profession and brings it into cycle.
Anyway, when he sees me he likes to tease me about my "hours" of cardio and intense gym personality. Until today he didn't know I was a triathlete. Today he caught me at the beginning of my workout and was concerned about my foot since he last saw me limping. I told him I was good as new after 4 days despite the dr's grim report. He told me it was because I was super woman and super healthy.
He asked me why I do what I do and what keeps me going. I told him about the half ironman and that it was my last race for a while. I then told him I was losing motivation, doubting myself, and worried about finishing it. He was blown away. He told me I'm the most in shape person he knew and had heart for it like he'd never seen. He told me that anyone who comes in day after day for hours at a time self motivated, can certainly finish a half iron and have confidence in her abilities. He said unless I race like I train in the gym I won't DNF. He said "you are INTENSE, you do EVERYTHING with intensity and gusto, you have primed your body to respond to speed AND endurance, but you'll need to learn more than that for that event, you'll need to learn to step it back a notch even if you want to RACE, you'll have to slow down to win-how well do you think you can do that?"
I told him I'd had this same conversation with a friend last night and that he was my further confirmation
He left me with a smile and "Godspeed" and that made me happy
