Sparrows Experiment

So sorry you are having trouble sleeping. Hope your daughter feels better. Congrats on the daughter wanting to help. That's a sign she's growing up.

Sorry to hear about your daughter and your lost sleep - hopefully they'll get better soon.

Making pizza at home is something I've yet to do - but hope to get to it in the near future. So maybe you're not as much of a candidate for a culinary makeover as you might think? And in that vein, regarding your body, you may just have to resign yourself to the idea that u r teh hawt.

Mondays just officially suck.
Its been a day but I'm choosing to be cheerful in this post now that I've gotten that down in writing :D
I had a lot of things I wanted to do today at the gym but I surrendered my creative plans to my normal ones when i realized it was going to be hectic today.
gym: delts/bis/tris
1 hour spin

B- Nada (no grief for this please)
Post-2c oj, 2scoop protein, fiber
L-"pure protein" bar
S-1 egg, 1 white...5 M & M's later ;)
D-?
Today has been a grab and go day. This is the first time I've been home sitting and its dinner time. I never planned my eating day ahead of time and I got very busy. I have to find a part time job so the day was filled with those kinds of duties plus my biblical counseling class. I did have time to make a shake but the rest I just had to grab as I came home to change and then quickly had to leave again. SO whatever, its fine. At least i got my post workout nutrition in..sort of. Thats what will ultimately matter for my workout tomorrow.

Another busy one. I had a moms group this morning so I was going to ditch exercise altogether but was happily surprised to find time later.
B-2 eggs, 1 orange
L-1 scoop whey, 2T flax, scoop fiber
S-1/2 apple, 1/2T PB
gym
D-1/2 eggplant w/ olive oil, marinara sauce and parm cheese, 1 sauteed chicken breast in olive oil and spices
S-something substantial
Gym: 3500 yd swim (140 laps)
I haven't swam this far for a while and it was liberating! I loved it. I had a pre planned workout I'll post only cause I like to have this recorded, not that anyone really probably cares :) I swam at 80% effort probably 90% or more of the time. I was just jammin and it was so fun. I guess most of the time I swim I've already run or done a spin class so I'm tired by the time the pool comes around. Today i felt like a million bucks. I hope to do more of these sessions at least once a week and try to increase my yardage.
warm up: 500 free, 400 reverse IM, 300 pull, 200 kick, 100 skulling
main set: 8x100 IM rollovers by 50's w/ 10 sec rest
6x75 Free/back/free by 25's w/ 15 sec rest
50 recovery
4x50 decending (going faster) 1-4 w/20 sec rest
4x25 all out sprint w/ 1 min rest
3x100 pulling recovery
100 easy cool down

I had the craziest dream last night, you and i had met in person to go running. so we ran around for awhile and then all of a sudden I was a teenage college student and you were an old lady with a kid my age, and i was supposed to live with you and your kid but you hated me for some reason and tried to kill me because i didn't believe in god. and then i moved out and lit your house on fire.

Sparrow, you may want to look at getting a restraining order ^^^ ;)

Woman you got some wild dream!!! :D

... She can probably out run any one of us, and probably a few speeding bullets too.

Oh, that is without question. :D

lol. thanks guys

Had a good workout but I'm having an impulsive eating day. shoot.
break: 1c applesauce, 1 serving whey
lunch: 4c romaine, 1 chicken breast, 1 hb egg, 1 roma tomato, 1T ranch, balsamic vinegar, 1 ww tortilla, 1/2 c ice cream (chocolate browie fudge mmmmm)

Gym:
1 hour spin
45 min interval and hill run
abs and various weights
the run was a spur of the moment thing. Some tri friends wanted to do it after the spin since that is a transition (bike to run) in a triathlon. Even tho the spin class was rough, the run was easy! ok not EASY but totally doable. Fastest pace was 8 min mile, highest grade was 12% and my shins were fine. I did take a megadose of ibuprofin before I went to the gym though.
One of the ladies who is doing a half iron man next month wanted to do weights with me so she asked if I'd show her some "things I do". So we did SLDL's, wide grip rows, incline bench and pull ups. not exactly what I was supposed to be doing today (delts) but I was happy to have a workout buddy and she was surprised at how hard the free weights were. I told her she was pretty much wasting her time for her goals with what she "normally" does, cause I've seen what she normally does and its not a productive routine nor is any of it free weights.
anyway...thats about it for now.

Anyway, I came home famished and without a plan so I didn't even make my shake. It didn't sound appealing or satisfying enough. But neither was the "lunch" I actually did make. It was gross. I wish I'd just stuck with the shake that actually benefits me after hard workouts. :( oh well

On the subject of the shake, try taking it with you . Doesn't take much to throw the powders into two bottles..then you can sip on it on your way home and eat once you get there. I still have that same problem, myself..not wanting the workout nutrition. I really, really don't want to drink my shake before, during, or after..but I'm slowly getting used to the revulsion, lol.

Other than that..hope you're having fun dealing with the various difficulties, and good job on not sweating the little strays. :)

@ Derwyddon, ......o_o. o_O. o_O. O_O.

Thats a very good idea. I did that one day I had an errand to run after the gym and it worked perfectly. I need to not be lazy with it and just do it. I'm glad someone else has the same "struggle" with it all. The before, during and after nutrition is like force feeding. none of it is all that appealing but I know that it helps tremendously. thanks focus

B-1c applesauce, 1 serving vanilla whey
gym
Post-2c oj, 1 serving vanilla whey

Gym: 1 mile warm up run, 6 rounds of suicides in the basket ball courts, 4 rounds side galloping, 6x200 meter sprints
3 mile jog on tread (6.5)
30 min swim
I woke up sore today but not so much "tired". After the suicides and sprints I was dead tired. Hit the wall tired. I shuffled along for the 3 mile run, but it was extremely hard. The swim was a joke. I felt very slow and didn't get in many laps.
I drank my post workout drink as I was rounding up my kids from childcare and I have no idea what lunch will be. I kind of feel like a shake. I don't have much of an appetite today. I have a job interview for a swim coach position today. Not my first choice but I'll do whatever I can at the moment. Coaching can be brutal since you're out there with all the elements. Especially in the 110 degree summer heat. But its something I know well.

I'd say good luck, but I read your response to Karky's swimming thread and you don't need it. I'll say, rather, that I hope the job turns out to be something close to what you're looking for. :)

I've been still dealing with the insomnia but I think I'm on the verge of overtraining so thats why I feel thats happening. I both lose my appetite and can't sleep when I'm overtraining. Which is exactly whats been up lately. Oddly I tend to gain weight during that period of time. Makes me buy into the "stress on body=weight gain" because of cortisol levels or whatever theory.

I took today off because my husband and daughter are going on a winter retreat with our youth group so I didn't want to ditch them in the time I can see them before they leave. I worked out 5 days in a row anyway and plan on it tomorrow so its all good.

I had my job interview yesterday. The racquet club the coaching job is attached to is amazing and high end. The set up for the team is awesome and after a lengthy interview, I got hired on the spot :) BUT its 4 hours a night plus saturday mornings, at the times I'm usually in my most busy "mommy mode" so I've been grappling with that. I have to tell him today and I've concluded I'm going to have to come back with a modification plan and if they let me loose, then they do. I did feel good about his feedback. He pretty much said I'm overqualified and the best candidate he's seen for a long time. that I should be applying for a head coach position with my background. Thats the only reason I feel I can come back with a modification in the hours, and probably be safe. But we'll see.

I've also decided something else. I think I'm going to work towards getting my personal training certificate and eventually get certified in special populations on my way to finishing my degree in kinesiology. I'm really not sure why I haven't thought of it before, its totally something I'm into and is doable from HOME without a lot of interruption in my home life. Its another thing we'll see about.

ANYWHO, I need to get to the store. Busy day.

Congrats :) Figured you were a shoe in from the get go. What special populations by the way? Mentally/physically challenged?

I'd like to do pre and post natal, obese and rehabilitation, like physical therapy. The physical therapy thing is probably in a league of its own so I'd have to decide if I'm more interested in that direction or more working with individuals striving to meet personal fitness and health goals in a gym setting. I'd also like to look into training endurance athletes. Heck I'm interested in it all. I guess I can narrow it down as I learn more and find my niche.

B-1/2c applesauce, 1 scoop whey
Post 2c gatorade, 1 scoop whey
L-1can tuna, 1T olive oil, balsamic vinegar tomato, red bell pep, 4c romaine
S-1 scoop whey, 2T flax seeds blended
D-large basil/garlic chicken breast, 2c cauliflower steamed and mashed w/ 2T ff sr cream, salt and pepper
S-tea w/ skim milk

Gym:
1 hour spin
2500 yd swim
Spin instructor was weird. It was a 1.5 hr class but I left at an hour to swim. It was boring and reminded me of an infomercial for an exercise tape. lol. Swim was in the pouring rain. I felt sore and tired but I pushed through. Tomorrow is a day off. I'm TRYING to eat clean today but...well its raining...and i'm home ALLL day with my kids with hubby at a winter retreat. The bum.
