Sources for Protein

Thanks guys!!! I think I might have to try and give cottage cheese another shot. Its just.. it sa texture issue for me. :)

As for anything fishy.. well.. :( I never have liked it. OY! I'm such a bad girl.. Thank you for all the input!!!:D Much appreciated!

I know what you mean! A lot of foods I don't eat are because of the texture rather than taste. It's so nasty sometimes! lol :) It's strange, I won't eat fish of any other sort but I love canned tuna fish. Now I've just got to figure another way to eat it besides with mayo. I'm considering the mustard option but it scares me. LOL!

lol! I know whatcha mean.. it took me YEARS to be able to eat yogurt.. lol! And now its only in certain flavors. hehe!

some nuts and beans are also high and protein. :)
oh and that new quaker oatmeal weight control has some protein and fiber in it. and if your vegan (and i'm sorry i have mentioned these a million times!) BOCA BURGERS! <<< 14 g in 1 burger!

I'm not sure if you like it, but Tuna is a great source of protein. Instead of mixing it with mayo I eat it with mustard or fresh lemon. Another way I really like it is mixed up with some fresh salsa ;)

i eat it with mustard sometimes, and its good with relish too!

Hmm ok ladies.. going to look into picking up some Boca burgers for the freezer and tuna. Lets hope I can do it!! LOL!

Dana try the griller boca burgers they taste the most like a hamburger. I've even gotten Gene hooked on them, they're really good ;)

The george foreman grill is AWESOME for fast easy cooking your lean meats.

i cant think of any recipes right now, but just wanted to add egg whites, (hard boiled) boca burgers, and tuna to your list! also try doing a search on this forum as we have discussed the protein issue many times! :)

the grilled ones are good and so are the CHEESEBURGER ones! almost as good as the real thing. i put them in a whole grain pita pocket, only 70 calories and it doesnt get mushy like a roll or a piece of bread. its also the exact size of the boca, almost as if they were made for each other. :)

Boneless skinless chicken breast. Turkey of course. Any lean meat. Cottage cheese too, comes in more than one texture you know. Salmon is good for being fish, and tuna is great with a tsp of lite miracle whip and some relish mixed up will knock your socks off.

These are my choices for not only low calorie and low carb, but low fat.

Protein

Hi there. I'm 6'4" and weigh about 280 lbs, the majority of which is my stomach. I've been trying to lose weight fast (I know, I know, it takes time) and I'm on what I call the 800 calorie diet. That's at least 1/3 of my normal intake. I've been doing well, finally finding a shake that doesn't taste like protein (really really hard to find one, since my taste buds taste EVERYTHING). My mother has been helping me out (I'm 19, by the way) and she called the nutritionist to get an appointment. The nutritionist said that at my age and height, I should be eating 80-90 grams of protein, but 3 of my shakes only comes out to 33g of protein.

Recently, I've been looking for protein pills because of my aforesaid problem with taste. I have endured a LOT of pain (Judo and the like) but nothing is more tortuous than trying to drink protein. So I'm looking for pills, but I can't seem to find any. What should I do?

Feedback appreciated. Thanks!

i dunno about fast...

but you should eat more protein. like actual lean meat coupled with anaerobic exercise. this will help boost your metabolism so you'll lose weight faster. with more muscles, your body will exert more energy to do normal stuff.

as for cutting your diet to only 1/3 of your normal intake, that's not very healthy. I would consult with your nutritionist about this... cause if you cut too much calories out, your body will go into sorta a "shock" mode and your metabolism will shut down. then it'd actually be harder for you to lose weight cause your body will try to resist.

If you are seriously on an 800 calorie diet with your stats, all you are doing is setting yourself up for disaster.

WHOA! You need to eat more than 800 calories unless you are on a doctor-approved diet for some reason. You would be amazed what foods have protein in them, start logging your foods and the protein they have and see what you get at the end of the day. Definetely eat more food!

800 Calories has crash diet written all over it...You need to up that BIG TIME.

Your goal should not be weight loss so much as FAT loss. Losing valuable Lean Body Mass will only cause major set backs and make it much more difficult for your body to burn fat.

Too many people focus entirely on how many calories without worrying about the other key factors. What are your calorie ratios? (Protein/Carbs/Fat)....What foods will your calories come from?

These things need to be sorted out and if they are done properly, you will have success. If you want that success to stay though, you have got retain all of the LBM you currently have.
