Slowly does it, Sunflower.

Our younger son didn't sleep through the night until he was 4 years old, so I can empathize with you there. It was horrendous. It's hard to nap during the day when they do, but it would make sense to. Hope tonight is better for you hon xoxo

Lovely to see you again! :) It sounds like you're doing really well in a tough time - I really hope the UK can keep on getting better. (It was good to see falls in new cases and in deaths the last few days.)
Cheers for the care package to your mother - these are such a good idea. Blessings on the Post Office for keeping on, keeping on.

It was so very bready, LaMa. Still feel full this morning!

Cate, that does not fill me with hope! I'm like the walking dead! 4 times between midnight and 5am last night! Trying a new technique tonight..I'll keep you posted!

Aim! Hello lovely, thanks for the welcome. Yes, it is positive with the numbers although think they always appear quite low on the weekends and Mondays..something to do with a delay in recording, I think.

So two bits of crappy news this morning - my dear, dear friend who is a RAF nurse working on the covid wards has contracted the virus. She's at home resting. I've sent a fruit platter and some chocolate this morning. Secondly, my literal Saint of a mother has had her car broken into this morning so she could not get to her shift on the Covid wards until my Dad could take her. Rotten people, really.

Plan for today is to work, work, work and eat well. Me and Yank need the earliest of nights tonight! Yawn.

Hi Hannah
Sorry to hear the bad news but the good news is your friend is at home recovering so let’s hope it’s a mild case . A huge shout out to your lovely mum to face the front line everyday .

Good luck!
That sucks about your nurse friend. She has my utmost admiration. Hope she recovers quickly. You're a very good friend.
Totally sucks that your Mum's car was broken into. Grrr!
I wish I could send you some helpful tips for a good night's sleep, but can't so will send you a hug instead :grouphug:

Thanks guy - will pass on the good wishes to both friend and Mutti!

Today has felt a long day..already been up 14 hours and it's barely even 19:00. Need dinner, a glass of red and an early night!
Did a 17:00 walk with L and Yank - we walk to this same street most walks now..it's beautiful and tree lined and we would love to live there so we stalk up and down the length of it, peering through windows like crazies and plotting who we will have to kill to get enough money to live there one day. We have a good time together, he and I. Happy happy.

Have also been plotting next holiday - I fancy Albania. Anyone been? We did Bosnia a few years ago and I fell in love with it and I've heard parts of Albania are pretty similar. Longing for the day when we can travel some more. Due to the crisis I've so far missed Morocco and Spain..will likely miss going to Idaho this Autumn too as we will need to save the money now. Never mind. The world isn't going anywhere..

Day 4 - Sunday 21st April

Lunch: NOT A TOASTED SANDWICH! Tomato soup and a few crackers (456)
Dinner: pesto pasta with mushrooms, onion and green beans (632)
Snacks: cheese and a big glass of red wine (405)

Total: 1493
Steps: 8300 (exercise calories recorded at 361 for the day)

Oh, no! You don't have to kill them to get the house! You just wait outside until they emerge, and then one of you trips them up, and the other one rushes in and saves them, and then in gratitude they leave that one the house; the tripper would have to run away quickly so they don't catch on that you're in cahoots. (Have you picked out which house it is you want?)

Pesto pasta sounds excellent! As does the glass of red wine. What a lovely day!

I love hearing about your happy family :beating:
I love the light at the end of the day. Do you or yank take pics of some of the houses on your walks?

I used to do that when I lived in cities . Was nice to dream . Also I used to love going in the double decker buses at night and peering in windows and all the lovely decorations people hsve . Lol makes me sound like a peeping tom .
nice food Sumflower

aiming, that made me laugh out loud! :) No, we've not picked just one..would be impossible!
Cate, didn't take any photos...may be arrested..We spend far too much time lingering on that street as it is! Haha
Petal, glad I'm not alone. I used to love house/people watching from buses at night when I worked evenings. Always made me feel melancholy and warm at the same time.

Slow day again - work, work, walk, walk, little lie down in the garden soaking up the evening sun. Slow and happy.. (if it wasn't for all the terrible death, etc.) Did take some photos today, will upload them later to show you! Now time to put the small eggbaby to bed and enjoy some food.

Day 5 - Wednesday 22nd April

Lunch: Surprise, surprise - toasted sandwich (401)
Dinner: veggie sausages and skin-on mash with green beans (667)
Snacks: glass of malbec, popcorn (507)

Total: 1575
Steps: 8000

Every day is a slow day for me at the moment. A little lie down in the sun sounds lovely xo

Hey Sunflower, planning your travels is a good way to pass some time. A reminder that this thing won't last forever.

Your food looks good, and the walk sounds nice.

Thank you, you lovely 4. Sorry I've not gotten round to diaries to say hi properly yet - still getting used to how much less time in the day you have with a little one. Petal, I think it's lovely but probably not for everyone..all the goodness is in the skin (or so my mum used to say when I was a kid..maybe she just didn't want to peel them!)

Right day 6 was yesterday - tomorrow is weigh in day!

Day 6 - Thursday 23rd April

Lunch: Surprise, surprise - toasted sandwich (401)
Dinner: pasta with a simple tomato, veggie sauce and cheese (595)
Snacks: huge slice of cake, 1 pretzel (753)

Total: 1749
Steps: 10,000

Busy night at the soup kitchen last night - the cake fell into my mouth by accident... We had over 60 homeless and vulnerably housed people attend to pick up the food we cooked. Lots of dehydrated people.. so warm outside.

Anyway, onwards to today! Want a low low day as weigh in day is tomorrow and I went higher than I wanted to yesterday. The ONLY Michelin star restaurant in my city has been doing soup and fresh bread for £5 if you collect it so that has been a lovely treat for us every Friday. Today is garlic veloute (sp?) and fresh black garlic bread. They even work out the calories so I'll be able to do my diary properly. Heading into the office for a few hours before I collect it - need to pick up some PPE and discuss a case with a manager.

Take care all <3 x

Did you manage your low low day? I'm so bad at those: they make me want to binge. Although to be fair everything makes me want to binge.

Don't worry about us & our diaries. You are one very busy woman. I love the work you do :beating:
Look out for flying cake :D

I'm with your mum about not peeling potatoes. I believe the most nutritious part is the layer just under the skin, about a matchstick width, which you sometimes see separating out in over-boiled potatoes - and a good bit of which is lost with peeling. I just scrub them, with a dedicated potato/otherveg scrubber.
This below sounds absolutely brilliant. Good for them - and lovely for you! :)
