At my physical today, I mentioned that I feel a twinge of pain in my shoulders when I raise either or both arms over my head and that I get the same pain while sleeping. She diagnosed it as shoulder bursitis. Proably half of the problem is attributable to my starting overhead presses and the other half to me being 48. I attempted pushups today when I got home and managed 2 - yes, all of 2 - before both shoulders hurt.
I looked up the treatments for shoulder bursitis and it is similar to the tennis elbow that I am finally and at least temporarily free from; Advil or Tylenol and stay off it! It if hurts - stop! So, my official tally on pushups is 2.
