Im at work, FFer. But, I plan to do my WO after work, and it will be done in just over an hour---Pushups included.

I dont go into anything thinking I cant, I go in it thinking I can, so its already done before I start, but I will honestly inform you how I do.

ok-- at 340 and the sets are now of 20, and feeling it major!!!

maybe this aint all that smart? <<<< that right there is when it is time to pony up with some gusto, or just go hame a snivel!!!

At my physical today, I mentioned that I feel a twinge of pain in my shoulders when I raise either or both arms over my head and that I get the same pain while sleeping. She diagnosed it as shoulder bursitis. Proably half of the problem is attributable to my starting overhead presses and the other half to me being 48. I attempted pushups today when I got home and managed 2 - yes, all of 2 - before both shoulders hurt.

I looked up the treatments for shoulder bursitis and it is similar to the tennis elbow that I am finally and at least temporarily free from; Advil or Tylenol and stay off it! It if hurts - stop! So, my official tally on pushups is 2.
 
She diagnosed it as shoulder bursitis.
That's the same thing as tendonitis isn't it? I continued training when I got this but used Ice packs and ibroprofen, and if you see my journal, my PT added exercises like face pulls, iso holds and int/ext rotations to help strenthen the area. This seems to have worked like a dream

REal quickly and then I have to get back to work. You are a cyclist! you ar planning to be on those bars and peddles for a minimum of 5 hours, probably around 7 hours, in exactly 18 days and a wakeup. you are 48, I am 30 something. cool it! be smart. as a cyclist this Horrible Hundred is big for you. protect yourself.

remember when we went riding? I took the time to follow my nutrition plan, and pace for the HIM race. Don;t let pushups and a tinch of "EGO FUN" hurt your race.

just care about you! And you have "heart" that will destroy your body- AND now is nto the time for that.

So, be smart, stay loose, and relaize you do not have time to recover from, and retrain from, injury, before your race.

Alright ladies.

How about 500 one handed pushups in a day. Now that's fun :D

At least make it 1000 next time guys. Think about it. A day for an average person is 15 hours.
Thus, 100 an hour = 1,500
50 every half hour simple.

I'm going to do 500 now over the next hour, but next time can it be harder?

Yes, CCR, it's tendonitis of the shoulder, to go along with the tendinitis I have had in both elbows. Unlike a muscle injury that can strengthen, tendons are non muscle but living tissue. They recover, but the trick is to avoid the injury in the first place by not overdoing it in the first place, which I obviously did.

Flyinfree, I will take it easy on the upper body stuff. Fortunately, I have no lower body issues and my shoulders will not be a problem (or excuse) when we conquer those sick mountains during the Horrible Hundred!
 
I wasn't planning on getting in on this, but just decided what the hell. I haven't done a push-up in years, but bench press should have the muscles in shape. I got 46 on the first set. I will see how close to 500 I can get before the end of the day.

500 done. and my 1.5 mile swim for tonight will now be in a pool, NOT OPEN WATER! hahahaha

PHATE-- thanks for saying you wanna beat me... it got that last 60 out of me. I was doing them 5 at a time.

the insides, like the bone, of my arms hurt. my tri-cepts adapted. my chest is nice and tender in the center split, and I kinda stink from sweating a few times.

all I know is this. I did more today than I would have done without you guys! thank you very much!

I'm getting those 350 done tomorrow, for sure... not sure when... or how... but it will happen! And once I get to 350.... on to 500! although I probably wont be able to move for my workout on thursday.
 
I will not be able to get to my WO until late tonight (around 10p or so). I normally do FreeForm inbetween sets of the bench press (and warmup with 60 pushups, instead it will be closer to my max of 100), I plan to replace them with push ups and then do the following:


Stationary bike WU: 5 minutes---medium intensity
Stretch and prepare my shoulders for the load coming (synopsis)

Pushups: 100

Bench Press (275X10)X3 rest time 2:30 (after each set, No rest (NR)--directly to the pushup, and then rest remaining of the rest period

Incline Bench Press (210X11)X3 same as regular bench press

French press (140X8)X3---same as bench pressing.
CloseGrip Bench Press (190X8)X2--same as bench pressing

Finish the rest of my workout

Then finish off the pushups........

I will let you know how it goes, BABY!

Wow, I'm pretty sure I can't do 500, and I would probably end up hurting myself if I tried.

It's incredible that you guys have the endurance to do that many all in one day.
