Seven or more eggs a week raises risk of death

Yep probably better of sticking to egg whites if you're eating that many eggs, most of the calories and cholesterol come from the yolks anyway.

I was eating 9eggs/morning for 8 months straight while preparing for a comp and I had my lipid profile done and it was great. I ate 7 whole and 2 white for ~5 months, and then 3 whole and 4 white for the remainder.

2 or less eggs a day is fine. Cholestrol is both consumed and made within our bodies, so if you happen to consume quite a bit of exogenous cholesterol, your bodies production will decrease to compensate.

I went through a year phase where I ate on average 8 whole eggs a day. I had my blood profile checked twice (including cholesterol), and I was well below 'high cholesterol' levels.

On a side note, had a friend do near the same and he also was fine.

On a further side note, I was so burned out on eggs at the end of this it took awhile before eating eggs again.

Here's a bigger picture:

Testosterone

I agree that this study is pretty stupid. I think pretty much every recent study of eggs shows them to be quite healthy, contrary to their reputation. All this study does is show that unhealthy people can have healthy habits, such as eating eggs. Most people don't absorb much of the dietary cholesterol they consume anyway. People worried about cholesterol should be more worried about bacon than eggs. Saturated fat and especially trans-fat are much more powerful raisers of cholesterol than dietary cholesterol.

Yesterday I ate 11 eggs.. am I going to die?

YES YES YES. **** yea. I remember eating 6-7 boiled eggs a day a while back.

Thats a pretty stupid comment. Most of the important anabolic nutrients are in the yolk. Eat the yolk.

I just saw this article and wanted to get some feedback on it.. some of the numbers seem ridiculous to me (such as the sample size) among other things.

A short excerpt from the end:

Sounds like a "correlation proves causation" argument to me.. what do you guys think?

definately a poor correlation. Eggs are your friend ...lol :)

Cholesterol is more genetic and based on the individuals activity levels. I'm trying to fight those genetics and only eat a couple eggs a week. Sure some comes from your diet but if you are active you won't have to worry about it.

Eggs are a great source of protein.

I'm not dead set against them, I just don't get the love affair with them. You have to eat several eggs to get any decent amount of protein. I'd much rather eat a few ounces of meat or a glass of milk

A passage right from the americanheart website,

"One egg contains about 213 milligrams of dietary cholesterol. The daily recommended cholesterol limit is less than 300 milligrams for people with normal LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. An egg can fit within heart-healthy guidelines for those people only if cholesterol from other sources — such as meats, poultry and dairy products — is limited"

But since God is good. And God created chickens and chickens lay eggs=eggs are good.

It really boils down to God being the creator of all that is good.

A glass of milk offers the same amount of protein as an egg. So maybe you should have an egg with your milk. :)

LoL thanks for the insult. I shouldn't have made that blanket statement, so point taken. But on a side note, not all of us need to eat eggs to get our anabolic nutrients, and I can find a lot of tastier things after a workout besides eggs that achieve the same result.

yea there are some days where i can chow down 12 eggs...i think thats my record.

We should start an egg eating thread hehe...whole eggs only though hehe

I don't eat 6-7 boiled eggs a day anymore, haven't had eggs in a while actually. Egg prices are going up, so can't afford eating a dozen a day.

All the article is saying is that people who did die in the study ate 7 or more eggs a day whereas the ones that didn't ate less than 7.

So basically, if a large percentage of people wore brown pants on Tuesday and died of a massive heart attack, you could say brown pant on Tuesdays is bad for your health. It's not scientific, but it's true since you cannot deny the fact that the people wore brown pants and died.

It's superstition, but I suppose it's still around even with all this modern science going about.

Actually the egg came first, via evolution. Isnt it convenient that god exists then, id certainly give him an F for all the things he's f*cked up on earth. But il give him a chance, might be his first time ;)

Some of you are going tribal in your arguments. The "old school" taught of the "average joe" needing three eggs per week as his/her diet would already include protein from meat/seafood etc. Discussions on the amount of eggs is nothing new.

What is new is whether the eggs are from free range chicken or from chickens holed in small cages under bright lights fed with hormones, antibiotics and steroids. Oops did I mention steroids? I read something on chicken wings and cysts in women but that is for another day.... :)
