Schedule messing with my metabolism?

Low Thyroid

I am wondering, that possibly, maybe???it could be a low thyroid? I have this problem, and it's a devil to get straightened out, but a symptom is little to no metabolism. I gained much weight rapidly, am extra hungry and can't lose very well. However, I'm also unusually exhausted, all symptoms of hypothyroidism. I can't afford to wait until it's all "straightened out" though, so on with the weight loss--a little is better than none!:piggy:

I have a thyroid problem but as soon as I started on the medication to compensate for it I saw results, they came very fast for me (not weight loss, but the lack of energy was helped, and I stopped gaining).

Though I'm feeling more like this person has a bigger problem with their diet and life style than anything, just from what was said.

Very well could be.

It's not as common as you'd think though.

If we figure out her nutrition and she is still having problems, she's going ot have to get some tests run.

Measuring cups tend to lie.... I'd be willing to bet your intake isn't what you think it is. Only a good scale would shed the light though. And again, with the kind of 'wiggle room' your dealing with due to your alread light weight, being exact is pretty important... especially if you're having trouble.

I'd be interested in seeing pictures of you. I hate sounding intrusive... but I'm not about walking someone into anorexia, lol. I've met plenty of 120 lb women who could stand to 'tone up' and I'm sure that's the case with you too.

Hit up fitday and keep us posted.

Hm.. well if I can't get a scale--at least as of yet--would measuring things out only 3/4 or so of the way be a little more accurate?

And what kind of picture? Like, full bodied or what I dub my "problem areas"?

Also, the thyroid issue: Is a bad thyroid genetic or can it develop due to health issues? For about a year I've been dieting, going to extreme lows. All my life I was overweight--due to overeating and a frank lack of movement--until about a year ago when I decided to lose weight. I did it pretty fast and I didn't have any problems with cravings or anything. I went from 140 down to 115 in about four months and I continued to lose, and by November I hit my low of 106 even when I was eating over 1500 calories (and bad ones, too; lots of butter and "diet" desserts). In December is when the weight started to come on, especially during winter break when I didn't really do much.

So unless a bad thyroid can suddenly develop over a course of a month I'm leaning more towards the issue being insufficient calorie burning...
