Sadakie's Diary

Hey there,

so I decided to join this community and start a diary, just because I feel like this will help with sticking to the whole weightloss stuff.
2018 I went over the 100kg mark and decided I need to change something and managed to get under 90kg. Last year I was close to reaching 80kg but… well, my weigh-in today was at 87.4kg.

Last year I had this magical idea of reaching my goal weight for my birthday in july, but realistically speaking… that’s not going to happen.
My goal would be around 65kg. At least the BMI calculator says it’s a healthy range, but if it’s more and I feel awesome I’m fine with that, too.
Putting into the equation that I may have some water weight stored because of a little overeating over the last days, maybe reaching about 82kg until july would be my little starting goal.
It’s just always this cycle with ‚tomorrow I’ll start exercising more‘ and ‚I just need to cut soda‘… and then all the motivation is just gone after a few days.

For my weightloss I‘m definitely going to be counting my calories because without an overview I tend to binge.

I wanted to try running a half-marathon last year and did the registration in january but chickened out about a month or two before and since then I became a little lazy. I mean I would probably have died after thirty minutes because my endurance is… meh, but at least trying would have been nice.

Anyway, I hope finding my motivation here with you guys and maybe getting back on track.

And just to start this with the best 'What I ate':

- 4 slices of toast with some plant-based spread
- half of a watermelon
- half the end result of using a baking mix for brownies

As you may see it's all in all a very well-balanced diet. :leaving:

Welcome to the forum!

I think your plan to start counting your calories makes sense. And posting here with your food and calories can help to. It makes you more accountable, and forces you to think more about what you are eating.

If you tell us more about yourself it would help people better advice. Things like your age, sex, height, etc would be helpful.

Thanks for the welcome!

Yeah, I hope it'll help. I'm already logging my food into an app but that doesn't seem to be enough.

Oh, standard information, sorry

I'm 24, female, around 172cm and plant-based :blush5:

Apps can be fine. I use myfitnesspal if you look at my diary you will see I post a copy here as well.

So how many calories did you eat today? Did you do any exercise? Did you get through the day without bingeing?

Hi, Sadakie & welcome to the forum. Good for you getting back on track & also for starting a diary. There are lots of lovely, supportive people here in the forum happy to cheer you on. Counting calories for a while will be good. It's great that you are almost 13 kg down from what you were in 2018. It will be fun to follow your progress & get to know you. Cheers, Cate.

Yeah, I peeked inside - nice hike!

Oof, I went over 3000 calories so the answer to the question is no -.-'

Thanks Cate! I felt the love while scrolling through the topics :grouphug:
Hope I'll be entertaining :biggrinjester:

And before I use any more smilies I'll go to bed. Tomorrow this diary will see less brownies!

Hi Sadakie and welcome!
I don´t really have anything to add to what Rob and Cate said, just wanted to say hi :)

Well hello there! :waving:

And just so there's a little more than a waving smiley here: Just revived my Mi Band and got around 5600 steps in. I think it will pretty much stay this number today :rotflmao:

No Brownies today because they were unanvailable!

I have to admit I felt a little stuffed throughout the day which is probably the result of yesterday's overeating, but to prevent weird cravings tomorrow I decided not to cut too much. I know that getting into the whole 'Yesterday I ate too much so today I should better not be eating' mindset won't be leaving me in a healthy place.

Aaaaanyway, for breakfast I decided it would be funny to put raisins in my porridge. Well... together with the protein powder it sure got a 'funny' texture but... I'm not going to try that again.
So my breakfast consisted of - as I said - porridge. Just some oats, soy milk, some raspberries and blueberries, chocolate cinnamon protein powder and the raisins. ~800 calories

Dinner was just sweet potato with baked beans and a little sriracha. ~700 calories

That leaves me with a total of ~1500 calories for the day. Honestly I don't even know what I'm aiming for. Staying below 2000 would be my goal in general, around 1800 would be nice but I'm afraid of aiming lower I think.. even though there's this little voice telling me it would be faster, but... well I'm worried about feeding an E.D. here ^^

But I managed to reach 8718 steps so this day was... something, I guess? :svengo:

Hear hear!

No wonder you felt full; that´s a lot of porridge! I do love me some raisins though. And I agree that eating as little as possible makes it hard to maintain a healthy relationship with food. BMI calculator | Check your BMI doesn´t just calculate your bmi but also suggests a calorie range that´ll help you get to a healthy weight. As you lose weight the amount of calories you burn slowly decreases so it makes sense to check back sometimes.

I checked it out and it suggests a range between 1757 and 2259 kcal so maybe 1800 aren't a bad goal ^^
Yeah! It's strange... it's such a difference between knowing all this stuff and actually doing something and doing it right. I've been trying to lose weight since I'm 16 now I guess. Luckily my first attempts were in a forum with a good community, too, so I never got into crash diets :blush5::rotflmao:

And regarding the porridge... I already felt full before >__> But it prevented me from snacking today

Any combination that'll taste better with raisins? I have some left :D

I usually make trail mix with the few nuts/seeds I'm not allergic to. Weighed amounts in tiny containers make a great snack. Or sometimes I have them in porridge (which has soy flakes instead of protein powder because the powders upset my stomach, so no funniness). But then I'm happier with raisin cookies than chocolate chip so I may not be typical :D Oat cookies with raisins!

Oat Cookies... that sounds like a good idea! Maybe I'll bake some tomorrow :3

Well I think you can miss out on some funniness with food as long as you feel well :biggrinjester:
Being allergic to a lot of nuts seems mean ._.

Good morning, Sadie (it's 7.30 am here in Aus). I'm glad you are cutting your calories slowly & seeing how you go, rather than risking crashing & burning. Oat cookies sound a bit more'ish to me. Are you able to limit how many you have a day?

Yeah, allergies and a sensitive stomach are annoying but much better when I eat well. For me oat cookies are very tempting.
