Rebel's Diary

Oh wow, that´s a great start. 35 pounds is no joke! Still up at all hours though, if I´m not mistaken. How´s your mobility at the moment?
Yea sleep is unpredictable at the moment.. mobility is better. Walking and working with a 10 pound medicine ball. Mostly just moving as much as I can.

Hi, Rebel. It's nice to have you back. Our son took himself off bp meds earlier this year too, but thankfully is back on them & is much better. He's starting afresh too. I'm going to start counting my calories again after xmas. I do think it's good to keep track, but it is a drag.
Yea the meds can be rough. You just get tired of taking them.. I need to get another food scale to help out with certain things but mostly ok.

hi RL... i read your pg1... do you still have an issue with sweets? let me first say that i never really had that. i don't generally consider dessert a meal course. but a few years ago i decided to really be aggressive about added sugar which is in practically all processed foods. an interesting thing has actually happened since then. even my subdued fondness for sugar is waning. i had some strawberries the other day and where i used to dip them lightly in sugar in the past, they seem naturally very sweet to me now. it's not really the same, but i have also cut back on the artificial sweetener i use to make pitchers of iced tea. i used to use 7 packets... then i want to 6... now i'm using 5. whether or not it's the same for everyone, even my slight sweet tooth seems to be lessening over time.

so just to give you some encouragement... i am guessing a fondness for sweets isn't inherent... it's learned.

Down 35 lbs is a great start. I'm only counting half-heartedly at the moment & working up to after Xmas too. Have you mentioned the difficulty with sleeping to your doc. Our son, R takes Melatonin.

Sugar isn't a huge deal anymore. I want something sweet from time to time but not like it used to be.
Yea sugar is in one thing or another. I dont like the diet foods much. They have an artificial funky taste to me. I'll brew some tea and add enough sugar to take the bitter out. Maybe 1/4 cup to a gallon pitcher. Mostly is water now.

Yea they gave me seroquel and it helps some. They think it's something to do with anxiety. I'll fall asleep for a couple of hours then awake for awhile.

Same here. Better to have a little of the good stuff. I had sleep problems for a while as well: I´d fall asleep at 10 pm, wake up at midnight and be wide awake until 5-5:30 am. When I had to leave for work at 6:45. I can´t deal with melatonin at all. Went away when my stress level went down though.

Yeah think it's anxiety more than anything else. Uggggg....ah well..

Anxiety suuuucks! But at least it usually goes down again after a while. Hope you´re fast asleep right now :grouphug:

Dealing with weird cravings. Last week it was barbecue and this week its shrimp. It's better than craving sweets and junk food I suppose.

Shrimp can get expensive quickly here but the calories are great! Mmm, now I want garlic-basted shrimp kebabs...
PS: did you take a pregnancy test?

Here they r 10.00 to 15.00 dollars a pound but that's cleaned and ready to cook so not to bad. I'm not picky... fried or chopped into shrimp burgers or just sauteed in some garlic and butter.
Pregnancy test? Think its save to assume I can skip that lol.....

:p Prooobably. It´s the kind of thing I panic about, so I wouldn´t take any risks :rotflmao: 10-15 $ for a pound of cleaned shrimp sounds great to me! I´ll have them fried, chopped for burgers, AND sauteed in garlic and butter please.

i was on travel for about a month in Biloxi, Mississippi where the market price on shrimp was insanely low, but that was pre-all the hurricane disasters and the BP oil-rig catastrophe so not sure if that's the case these days. the downside was what the casinos did... every &$%* shrimp dish they cooked there was cream based with massive amounts of olives in everything. it was easy to understand why blackjack tables there usually had 6 seats vs the standard 7 you find in Nevada.

I love every sort of seafood & will be having some on Christmas Day. I will start back on MFP properly after Xmas day, Rebel :)

what i'll never understand are those who cite religious texts to guide their dietary choices. like science hasn't addressed all those concerns in the past 2000+ years.
