Raising The Bar

I had a bit of lower back pain today but thought I'd go ahead with my plan of trying a few singles on the deadlift to see how far away I am from my target of 400lbs.
Because of this my schedule went out of the window

Deadlifts
1x132lbs
1x220lbs
1x353
1x375 - perfect form too :)
3x309
3x309

Romanian Deads
10x220
10x220

My lower back was shattered at this point and I'd managed to split the skin underneath a massive callus so I had a sharp pain in my hand and a little blood balloon forming so I finished off with split squats (not the quarter variety I saw last night)

Split squats (each leg)
10x132lbs
10x143

Overall I was pleased with my deads, that's the first 1RM I've ever recorded

Only 25lbs to go! You are an effin beast. You get gloves yet?

Nah, I think they look so pussy, although if I'm going to continue to get cuts from the bar I may reconsider. My girlfriend isn't a huge fan of the cheese grater hands either

If you dont get them, you may not get any.

I'll just flex my sexy biceptZ and get some new high school girls following me around :)

Another upper day today, this was a tough workout and I still had some soreness around my pecs and shoulders from Wednesday. A good weekend of rest and food is needed to recharge I think

Machine Chest Press (benches taken)
3x5@231lbs
7x216

Rows
3x5@246lbs
8x216

I found these harder than usual today, I think yesterdays dead max knocked it out of me

Elevated Pressup Iso Holds
3x45 seconds +33lbs on back

Bent over pull downs
10x198lbs
10x209
10x209 - Killed me

Int/Ext rotations
Int - 2x10@66lbs
Ext - 2x10@44

Wow, what a day it's been on here, there's been so much bitching at each other I think my cortisol levels are sky high just from reading them :boxing_smiley:

Well, the gym was empty today, which was suprising seeing as it's international 'pecs and triceps' day (Monday)

Squats
3x264
2x3 @ 286
6x264
10x242

Romanian Deads
3x10 @ 242

Seated Calf Raises
3x10@132

No time for lunges today, I got caught up in the office so didn't get to leave on time

It's exactly 4pm here, I think the time in NYC is about 5 hours behind the UK

And a question for you Goergen, what's your max deadlift? And how long were you lifting before you hit that point?

HUH, deadlift. by far my crappiest lift. My best ever is 600lbs off of the floor. (to put that in perspective, my bench press was higher) Thats why I was pretty happy about the 550 I pulled a couple weeks ago. I have a different technique now and I think I will be breaking barriers soon.

I was lifting a long time before that. I hit it in 2005. I started training in 1991. (I think, I started my first year of high school)

I did not really train it till about 2000. I broke 500 in 2004, and it really jumped in '05. It was during that time I figured out how to train back and core better.

Sorry. Long answer to short question. :)

600lb deadlift, that's cool; but over 600lb bench?!? I just crapped myself

Deadlift is my best lift and bench is my worst

Yea. The squat has historically been my best lift. I have not been putting as much emphasis lately on the lifts as much ans I have been putting focus on work capacity and power.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do about this? I now have what looks like a black callus on my right hand; this isn't a problem in its self but it still hurts a little which makes me think the break in the skin hasn't healed yet.

There shouldn't be a problem lifting heavy with this should there? Does anyone think it would be a bad idea?

It'll probably break open again. Get some gloves man, they are hand savers. Thats the only reason I use them. The equipment at my gym was new so the knurls were all tearing up my hands.

It could open up. And you do not want that. I use pre-wrap and duct tape for stuff like that. I have a large red blister on my left index finger from throwing last week and that solution has been perfect.

I find duct tape to be far superior to athletic tape in these situations, I the athletic tape pulls at the skin. The duct tape is smooth and stays in place. The pre-wrap is just to make it more comfertable.

Hope this helps.

Ah, duct taped hands, that could be a way for me to be a wuss but still look tough :)

Maybe I'll celebrate my 400lb deadlift with a pair of gloves though. I can't wait to get that out of the way, I need to cut.

Not such a great day today, I used a different set of dumbells for the chest press and found it so much harder; I've either lost strength or this new set are slightly heavy dispite being marked the same weight

Incline DB Chest Press
5x176lbs
5x176
5x176
6x167 - 2 less than last week

I also had some pain in my left shoulder so it's back to the ice tonight

Seated row
4x277lbs - over ambitious
5x262
5x262
8x231

Elevated Iso Press Up Hold
3x45 sec + 33lbs on back

Bent over pull down
10x198lbs
10x209
10x209

Oh yeah, and speaking of weight, it's looking like my girlfriend will need new trousers soon.
Not in a 'who ate all the pies' kind of way though, more like a 'what idiot didn't use a condom' kind of way. Lol, we're still thinking there's a chance it could be really bad constipation :yelrotflmao:

Lol, cheers, not getting too excited though because if it is just that she's put weight on then she'll be so embarrassed about us getting excited thinking it could be a baby :)
I'll have to wait until a test comes back positive
