To top it off a friend of mine just called to tell me that he's just given his new employers my name and number at work and told them I'm the Director of Sotherby's!! He said they'll probably call today and I'm supposed to give him a verbal reference

That's got me a bit pissed; a bit more warning would have been handy
 
That's why I always phone the main office number and ask for the title if at all possible.

I don't know how other people interview references, but I'm always trying to dig in and pick up on what's being said between the lines and then have them elaborate on that. Most managers don't like to talk bad about previous employees unless they pissed them off, and you really want to know the weaknesses too, so you have to do it if you want the complete picture. I would think it takes a smart liar with manager experience to get through it. You got to prepare mate.

You ok with the moral side of this? That manager is trying to find the right person to do a real job, he'll have real workmates, real customers. Someone else is going to get turned down for the job because they gave their real references.

I'd probably go with it if a mate put me in that situation, but I'd make sure he never did it again. And damn he'd owe me.

Nah, if they don't do their research properly then it's their fault. A simple Google search would show up his lie but I bet you any money they don't bother
 
But CCR, this is a prime example of why morals are important. You see, for you, that service is only 5 minutes of your time's worth. If you had morals, you could claim great sacrifice for doing the exact same thing and so get a much bigger service in return. ;)

Yeah, I bet they don't google you, and a lot of people don't even bother calling references.

Not calling references is like... trusting people at face value. You just don't do that :doh:

Today should be a test to see if I really do have the immune system of superman, my record of 18 months without so much of a sneeze might be under threat after getting caught out in a rain storm without a coat this morning. I was absolutely soaked through!!

If I don't post tomorrow you'll know it's beaten me (I don't like its chances though :))

Oh, but someone neg repped me for saying that Bruce Lee looked like a stick insect with ADD. :yelrotflmao: Some people have nothing better to do with their time

I just remembered something I saw yesterday; it turns out my gym has a 'spinning' room. The door was left open and I had a peak inside, on the wall in huge letters they have the words 'Going Nowhere Fast'.

Lol, that's true on more than one level, I wonder if the guys at Fitness First have a sense of humour :)

Cool, I have at least 18 months and going strong. I'm wondering if it's increased testosterone levels as much as healthier eating, I'm a lot more energetic and aggressive than I used to be, I can't even imagine being sick now
 
Squat day today, or workout A according to my little sheet of paper, and everything went really well, in fact so well I'm slightly suspicious. My form seemed better than ever and although I had a drenched t-shirt I found it all very easy to deal with. It must be because I switched from front to back squats?!?

Yep, me too. At least a year knock on wood. All my co-corkers have been coughing and sniffling for the last 2 weeks and it's like i'm wearing a suit of armor . I started to get a bit of a sore throat on Sat but it just didn't take hold. A good side benefit isn't it?
 
Good morning CCR (at least for me, lol). How in the hell are ya? No weight routine post or am I chillen in asking too early?

I worked out with my son again yesterday (he is a flat goof, lol :) ), and were gonna go out for a run after I get off work today. Been working on him for months to workout with me and finally--something clicked recently. I put some bars in the garage to do dips (and made a sort of dip station and he helped) so I am adding in dips as part of my FreeForm routine in between certain sets (during the rest period between sets) and this has increased reps on the exercise effected the last couple of weeks (something new and the body is adapting pretty well, I am thus far pleased with it).......

Stay focussed and PISSED CCR.....lol

It's a rest day for me today, I couldn't resist going to the gym though but I stuck to a few iso's and support moves like overhead shrugs. I avoided any heavy lifting so I can get onto deads tomorrow

Great to hear about working out with your son, kids are an amazing gift in life

I like it it is special. He "rah rah's me.....lol" ( I have no idea where he got that from...no idea at all) on the last rep Im trying to get up (he just needs to learn to not make dad laugh as it ruins concentration on the last near or at failure rep). But its all good! :)

Rest day for me too, except fo the run this afternoon. ROCK IT! CCR! :)
