All i did was ask a question - half in jest half based on the "toning" myth? This is supposed to be an internet forum where people's opinions can vary isn't it?

BTW I can out-do you in every lift including 20 pullups and I'm probably the biggest on the forum (and probably the highest body fat), but you won't see me posting this anywhere.

Cheers,
BB

The likes of you, Lei, Tom, Nolovelost are doing a fantastic job with your journals. Competition is fine unless it gets to one's head.

I know Big T has been journaling, and a big heavy guy (cheers!).. And from FFs post, BB is big heavy guy too, but not journaling.

BB you should junk this thread and start Journaling too. I’d love to see some other heavy weights gearing up to lose some pounds and lift big.

FF is right, keep it real and you could actually use the sight to attain something.

That’s all I have to say about that. Time to focus on my Shizzzat.

All I'm saying is if you're going to go and just be a jerk and insult someone because they aren't as strong as you, you should be able to post some numbers that are impressive. Not that impressive numbers entitle you to be a jerk.

And then turn around and say you can outdo someone else in every lift including 20 consecutive pull ups. I call b.s. on doing more than 20 consecutive pull ups with no rest.

So I'll leave it at you being a braggart and a jerk.

The average gym rat should be able to bench their own bodyweight, squat 1.5x bodyweight, deadlift twice their bodyweight and do at least 10 pullups. The problem is that people have forgotten these old school ideals.

I wouldn't call 20 pulllups impressive for anyone who trains their back/lats, do antagonistic lifts to the "train the chest only thinking" of many gym rats. Then again people hardly do pullups and never set strength standards.

My comment on micro-weights was partly in jest but partly on the ideal of working with reasonable weights for one's bodyweight. If you weigh 240 lbs for example and are using 10% of your bodyweight for bench press but yet when you do pushups you use 60% of your bodyweight, are you working with optimal weights?

Hmmm so this is a hate BB thread :p

I like you BB lad, although it does appear your coming across ignorant to the fact not everyone can lift some 'big weight'.

Anyway, i'll let you masturbate me if you want.

What you got B***h!

Kidding aside, I’ve been curious. I’m nowhere near my PRs now but looking to get at least some of it back.

PRs:
Squat 500lbs (parallel, no depth –keeping it real)
Dead 6 sets of 6 with 405 lbs (never went for max)
Bench 400lbs

I’ll be keeping an eye on your training log. I get fired up about lifting again when I read yours and proteinboys. (and a few others)

Some weight there Johnny! Respect ;)

20 pullups is very impressive. Very few gym rats who aren't skinny as hell can do that. You've been reading too much on tea nation about how strong people should be. Everyone is different, different people have different prerequisites and are at different points in their lifting life.

Now are you being serious or are you just provoking? If you are just provoking for no reason, I'd like to remind you that I've got a zero tolerance for that. And that's me speaking as a mod.

I did over 20 chinups once, and I had more in me, but my wrists started to hurt. I was about 68kg BW, I was in junior high and I was one of those weak kids everyone messes with. Then I got stronger, got to be one of the stronger guys in highschool, but I couldn't do 20 chins, no way.

There are vids of people doing 20 pullups on youtube. There are aslo sites like 20 pullups.com and 100pushups.com which gear people towards 100 pushups and 20 pullups. I remember replying to neonlady when she asked about 1-arm chinups and kipping pullps and negatives and showed her a video on youtube of people doing like 50 kipping pullups.

Does anyone know how many pullups you have to do to join the marines/seals or special forces etc?
