Prefer Home Or Gym?

i guess at home but we have a ymca membership so i can go there to use the bikes, play raquetball or swim too. can't do those things at home.

Well I just started working out in the gym after 20 years of working out at home. I didn't like gyms because they were always crowded and dirty and I don't like people watching me, but the experience isn't like that at all. So now I think I like working out at the gym better.

I like the gym at 7:00am on a saturday morning when no one is there and the music is bad 80s rock - which i love... during the week - at night i'm there but it's over crowded -the bathroom smells, and there's generally a wait for equipment...

For weights I like home better though I am branching out more at the gym because there's more weight availability to me - though other people are distracting for me...

I like to run at home on the tredmill or go down to the lakes or beach and run. The gym is cool for basketball and weight lifting but I hate going to the gym alone.

The lakefront path about 1/2 mile from my front door is definitely my preferred option ... but alas - Lake Michigan winter winds, not to mention ice and snow make it rather impractical in the winter... now if only the city would heat the path :)

Gym!

At home theres a TV , xbox , homework , all kinds of other things I could be doing its too much of a distraction....

I agree...more variety at the gym. They have all the fancy equipment and features I don't have in my small 1 bd rental.
Plus, 24 Hour Fitness has free group classes and a pool and sauna I can mix into my routine. It really helps to keep from getting bored when I have a bunch of options. Don't you think?

I prefer the gym anyday, much more equipment than at home plus the instructors motivation helps me a great deal - if I was left to myself at home I'd miss sets or reduce weight and so defeat the whole object.

I like havin a room at home set up like a gym, eventually half the garage will be turned into a gym with weights, bike, tradmill and radio

i have no choice i have to workout at home 3 kidos and no time keep me from going to the gym... bought my self a nice treadmill and jumprope and my bf has a large weight selection to choose from... wish i could go to the gym once in a while oh well

I like to go to the gym anymore... Less distractions and there are a million different workouts you can create for yourself. I am excited for the warmer weather ahead because I like to run outdoors on this trail in this gully behind my childhood home. I can blare my I-Pod and completely zone out. lol

man if i had an ipod and a sitter i would love to do that i enjoy running but its hard to zone out when the only thing you hear is crying ... mommy... and the ups guy ringing the door bell

I started out doing bodyweight workouts at home, but you can only do so much with an old treadmill, a fitball and a chinup bar.

I was a bit hesitant to go to the gym, being a bit self conscious. After about my 2nd or 3rd time there, I got over it and now am very relaxed there and love the gym.

There is lots to do at the gym and I see plenty of folks who are motivating, especially the old folks who are still working out well into there 70's & 80's. I figure if they can do it, I have no excuse.

Since our YMCA has renovated I enjoy going there a lot more. It's no longer stuffed in the basement - its now an upper level with lots of windows and natural light - good ventilation - more equipment.

I do however hate how packed it is after I get off work - thankfully I time my workouts good and don't usually have to wait too long for equipment.

I'd love to use the weights but I'm definately intimidated by the muscular grunting face scrunching iron pumping guys. lol

I love to go to the gym. With two kids it's like my break at the end of the day. I like getting ready and going somewhere, I love my iPOD, and I like when people watch me.. lol.. that is most of the attention I get.

I do walk 3 miles in the day, but that's not really at home. ;)

I agree, there are a few physically challenged people at my gym that inspire me as well. One man has no forearms, there is a blind man, a man who has had a stroke and I have seen him go from a walker, to being back on an elliptical. When I see them do it, I think what kind of excuse can I have?? ;)
