Post your best mile times...

Christ that's fast for your age!!

I'm sure you already realise it, but that's the time the men and women in the army need to be considered good enough to go to war!!..like with real guns!

Anyway, you probably don't need to hear it from me, but godammed good work.:D l-). Considering you're only 14 or so now, it sounds like you have loads of potential! If you keep it up and keep raising the bar, the skyes the limit! ..that w/r is only a minute away!!:):) Good luck with whereever it takes you .

Not too long ago my goal was 10 minutes then 8... then I wanted to beat my 7:45... well

Treadmill 7:29 last tuesday. 32, 5'11" 192 lbs.

When I was in college I ran 5 miles in just barely under 40 minutes (like 39:52 or something like that) as part of my fitness class. The only time I ever thought I would puke after running... but I was 165 lbs then... and in pretty good shape... I bet I would have been in the sub 7 minute range then...

Well when I posted yesterday? It got me thinking, so I took to doing one mile on a track. My time was 4.43.23, but regarding the 5min time I got I was actually 12. Sorry I had my birthday on the 20th so I keep thinking one year ago means I was 12. oops. About the proffesional time, to be honest I think there is a lot of difference in 1 minute. I might be able to get 3 something one day, but at the moment I am focusing on sprinting.

Probably a wise move.

When my dad was training he ran with a buddy of his he grew up with and went to the army with and did the run circuits with who was more a sprinter than enduro runner and they used to train each others strength leg aswell. My dad usually had the fastest mile on most circuits he stepped on and he attributes it to that. .. and doing it on hills and so on.
you're right though, a minute iis a long time when you look at in terms of race times but that said, if you make changes to other things you do to compliment that, it's not hard once you break the plataue to really knock it down quickly..

No pressure from me anyway, as long as you keep enjoying your progress you can't really ask for anything else.

P.s. In NZ the army recruitment qualifying assessment is over 2.5 kms.

cheers

just under 10 men, just under 11 for women. ..navy gives you more time, airforce less.
I used to quite dig a good 800 or 15 myself ..No joke ..you are kicking toosh!..and adult toosh at that...and with plenty of room to improve.

I don't know about the others here, but with your age in mind, i am happy to take my humble pie on it. I can definately see you at w/r or title chance down the track or doing something awesome later.
You'll never not have been familiar with that work capacity in you.
Again good luck with it.

Ran 7:09 on the treadmill today...at 188 lbs...

I am 5" 3 and weigh 123 pound. I tried running an outdoor mile once and I believe I made it under 8 mins.

Im noy really proud of that but I know I can do better.

Not sure exactly for the mile as we never did it when i was at school (we're metric lol) in multi eventing though the 1500m was an integral part, pb of 4.30 for that in the districts. Horrible event though, pure murder, the last and most dreaded part of multi eventing!

oh yeah im 185cm and weigh 79kg (sorry i have no idea when it comes to weight in pounds...as I say, its all metric here:) )

p.s all my times are outdoors on track, i refuse to run indoors! Its so much nicer outside :D

72.8 inches or Just under 6' 1"

174 pounds

BTW google... do a seach... type in 79 Kg in pounds.... and whamo... it gives you the answer :)

I have no idea how fast my "maxed out" mile is (mainly because all my runs are 5+ miles).

Today (on a treadmill) I ran 6.2 miles in 45 minutes. On a 1-10 scale of intensity I would rate today's session a 7. That makes me think I could do one all-out mile in about five minutes.

Compared to all of you, I sound pathetic when I say 12 minute miles but for me I really am proud. (I have only timed myself to see how long it takes me to exercise so I would have enough time in the morning before work, but today I timed it to see how long it took me for a mile. (My 12 minute miles doesn't include my walking to warm up or cool down.) Today was the first time I was able to run the full 2 miles. Usually when I finish my first mile, I come to a hill and walk it but today I ran the hill. I now understand about the zone. When I got there I felt I could keep going. I wasn't gasping for air or anything. I felt great. I am bragging here but too bad - I am soooooo proud.

I'm not exactly much of a runner, but I did think it'd be a good thing to start mixing in with my regular workouts. I'm 6' 8" and 280 lbs (yes you read it right :p) and I'm just slightly over 10 minutes on my mile time. My first goal is to break 10 minutes and then to try to get down to 8. After that, I don't much care about increasing my speed, only endurance.

7 minutes and 30 seconds was my best time. I started at 11 minutes and 5 seconds. Big Difference.
