Performance -Not Enough!

Hey you, super cool dude, you're putting the rest of us to shame!
Here I was reading the site all pleased with myself for lifting a few extra Kg in the gym and then I read about you half killing yourself doing an event that only crazy people would enter. Top marks to you for that, you've given me the bug to do a proper cross country race again, I weigh about 70 lbs more than the last time I raced though so it might become more of a light jog

+ Rep for being a double hard bastard

Official times are in:
SWIM 42:53

Hey CCR, you can do it man. I am turning the corner, taking a new set of before photos, and setting my course for a half Ironman in Oct. That one is 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 run...... and I'm scared of it a bit.

These events are more than just the distances. It is so much more.
pick an event and let's rock and roll brother.

Will do buddy, I think I'm gonna get some proper help on getting bigger first and then cut down to a lean size before picking a proper event to target. I hate swimming so that's out but I love running and cycling so it'll probably be one of those

working on planning 1/2 Ironman for Oct, seeking dietary advice, training goals, and training regimen. thinking i want to complete within the 6 hour window.

touted family support tonight on the board, felt good about that. do not want to let myself get out of touch.

lifted with Carolyn last night, lightly, headed to the gym to stretch it out in the pool and who knows what else. Gotta get this body cranking right away.

I feel sore at the skeletal level. Like I sacrificed form during the last leg of the Triathlon Sunday.

I feel very grateful for this place right now and all I have learned so far, and the effect it is having on my family.

sentimentally,
FF

Keep on at it man!! You will reach those goals you have!!

Also I need to learn that cool handstand trick you do!! Got a video of it?

how about i make you a video with my phone and send it? shoot me a pm with an e-mail adress. Then you can put it on here, if you know how to. I don't.

went to the gym-
Rode 20 inutes HILL INT very hard, stood up every other minute
Ran 3 consecutive 8 min miles, with a sprint at the end 12mpi.
did squats 200 lbs 4 sets of 8
did those bulgarians 3 sets of 6 wth 25 lbs each hand
did curls in three different ways, 3 sets of 10 each.
did that trap pull up thingy for 3 sets of 12
swam 20 length, 10 laps.
steamed and came home.

OK- the balancing hadnstand pressup is the "crown move" of the gymnastics gymnasium, though it is not as difficult as it seems. Provide you can do a hand stand, walk freely on your hands and your strong enough to break your elbows and not "ding" the crown of your head on the floor and paralyze yourself!!!!

PLEASE re-read that PB.

Start with 3 point handstands against the wall. you need to learn to breath in a handstand. Then graduate to handstands against the wall. then do pressups against the wall. then develop a nice cartwheel. this will develop balance and core strength. (in skydiving we call it developing "center") then start trying to walk on your hands all the time. You would be surprised what a hard workout trying to do handstand for 15 minutes is. Then do them next to the wall and try not to touch the wall.

when you feel strong enough and can breath upside down like that, try breaking your elbows. the first time or two you may scare yourself a bit. If you crumble, remember to pinch your abs so you crumble with your legs coming down in front of you.- then you wont snap your neck. And i don;t mean break, butit will "twang" your lower back and you will be out for a few days.

p.s. being able to do a handstand and walk on your hands and stuff is totally cool. My handstand chick pic should be coming this week. And Nita Marquez is probably going to be at the Huricane Fitness Expo in Sept. See there! i was able to do a 1 minute handstand and I have your dream girl as a friend.

hehehee

LOL. awesome. i am so eager to start training to do handstand pushups.
whats a 3 point handstand on a wall?

this reminds me of one time i was practicing handstands in my bedroom. i just kept trying to go up into a handstand, and i kept failing. one time i held it for like 3 seconds(woohoo -_-) and then i lost control, and fell extremely hard on my left knee. i layed there, alone, hugging my knee waiting for the pain to go away for 15 minutes. i kid you not. thre was nothing major and the pain went away in 1 day.

but next time i practice my handstands, it will be against the wall and on the grass :)

oh and nice training. impressive! ehhh when are we going to have that pistol competition!? im going on vacation friday but i can crank some out thursday if your up to compete!

are we competing for a XRM to see who can do more in a row?

the third point is the top of your head goofy! two hands and your head. you want to learn to stay there for awhile so the grass coudl get crawly. Well, in FL it does.

A handstand, walking on hands, and such can kick your tail. Few can!

competition! I am out of town for a few days. Next week. And I did a Triathlon on Sunday lil man. My Skeletin hurts! you have no idea!

You mean i'l be standing on my head and also supporting with my two hands? ok if you say so....
but im definetly going to be able to do it. thanks for the tips

it is not to see if you can do it....It is to spend some time there and learn to breath and balance, and develop core strength... Good luck.
and change that dang avatar!!

Stud. Thats a great workout right there. What is the "L1, L2...etc."? Levels? I'm not sure what you mean by in sync with spin but I set my class time up so that it immediatly follows the most intense Spin class offered M/W/F mornings. That way I can spin too..and then coach. Course it would be great if I could be one of the ones spinning AND swimming too. I did it that way because the greatest population in the pool for my class are triathletes who take that class.

Did you end up doing Tri Geek? I looked that up, seems like a great thing, although I personally think you could get the same from something free. There are a TON of programs out on the web for free that are just as great, even sites with blogs, open forums, articles etc.

You are truly inspiring me to reach farther than I feel I can right now FF. Thanks for that.

KT

"""" That way I can spin too..and then coach. """ - that's a good reason. i retract my statement now. i wanted those watarobics people out of my way. but if the swim coach is in the spin class!- well that's different. Especially if it you!

Got back from trip late slept in, went to gym.

Did a fun thing, i came up with on my own.

Swim a 1/4 mi, bike 3 mi, and run 1. - did 3 rounds. it was exhausting an dthe change up made it fun.

Also got max bench press of 225, did it twice.

Missed you guys.

Sparrow, we are good for one another. thank you for saying what you said, it matters soooo much.
God Bless!

Tri-Geek, i have a printed copy of the regimens so i am not paying or anything. And- Forums!! OMG I already need a detox forum for this one let alone another-hheheheeee

L1-Converse freely - warm up cool down
L2-short convers. full sentences
L3-1 or 2 word spurts
L4-can't talk now
L5-Speed Drill or Sprint- max effort

Welcome back. Sounds like a great workout today. I'm on my way with the kids to the gym. I have a long run today but its already 100+ outside so I have to do it on the tread. Its only 8 miles. Then to the pool to help my stud son with more swimming. He's doing a mini tri this month :)

more later. gotta go!

great workout today, an my son showed up at th park on his bike when I had 4 laps of HIFFT done. He joined in and worked until we dropped. SOOOOOOO proud.

I had not seen your post Sparrow, how cool is that. TJ wants to do the kids-tri also. That is probably why he showed up when i went to work out.

THIS IS GOOD STUFF!!!! this is all God!

FF, that is so awesome! My little bother plays almost every sport imaginable.. i need to get him out doing things like that with me. he would love it!
