Perfecting my plan, now to implement!

Have fitday completed all the way through what I will eat for lunch and snacks until I get home, 1388 calories as it sits now. Protein is still a little low. I've got some "Isagenix" protein powder that I may incorporate tonight if I need to. A friend of mine gave it to me but I had no interest in the program. I figure I might as well use it as it looks like it could benefit my current plan. It's got 23 grams of protein/serving with 27 carbs and 6 grams of fat. I'm doing something with chicken breast for dinner. So, if the protein shake is needed, I'll incorporate it to meet my goals. Off to work for a while. Cya, Greg

Ugh, this friggin' fiber is killin me. I'm so frickin bloated, my fat belly hurts and the only thing I can figure is it's got to be the fiber. How in the hell can anyone eat 35 or more grams of fiber in one day. It's kickin' my azz. I can't eat anymore food at this point and literally feel like I'm gonna throw up. Maybe things will calm down in the next hour or so and I can work out and ride the bike, right now it's not happenin. As far as that goes, I won't be meeting my calorie goals either.

Any suggestions? Is it just a matter of getting used to it? I'm currently planning on increasing my water intake even more to see if I can beat this thing.

Anyhow, ANY suggestions would help. I'm just glad it's caused by eating properly instead of falling off the wagon. Give me tips. Thanks, Greg

Feeling better this morning. I guess the fiber really got to me yesterday. I was hurtin' bad! I did absolutely nothing last night, I didn't even eat anything because i felt so bad.

The pushup challenge has started. We'll see how far I get with this one, hehehe. 30 done now, only 470 to go, lol.

Alright, one man can only take so much. Uhm, well, this man anyway. Drove 1 1/2 hours each way to the funeral. Done. Push up challenge, 300 completed. Done (for tonight anyway). I may try to do more in the morning to see if I can get a little closer to 500. The 1st set in the morning will tell.

Diet was clean again today. No fiber problems/gas/stomach pain/bloating and I consumed 30 grams so not bad. Calories a tad high at 2357 but still below my projected needs by about 600 calories. Still pretty happy with carb and protein intake.

Didn't workout yesterday, see previous post. Focused on push ups today and no cardio. Will resume weights and cardio tomorrow.

INSIGHT FROM THE LAST WEEK: Fitday is a HUGE benefit!!! Although I bucked it at first, it has really given me tons of insight as far as getting the right number of calories each day without starving myself. In fact, many days I've had to focus on eating more in order to eat enough calories. I used to think if I wasn't starving all the time then I must be eating too much. If you will use this tool, you will be more successful. You can be aware of your intake, not starve and still lose weight the right way! Good luck and take care, Greg

Cranked out another 50. That's it for the day, 350 pushups total. Will finish off tomorrow depending on shoulder.

Almost feel recovered from the pushup challenge. I was even more sore today than yesterday.

My wife and I went out to dinner with some friends last night then went and drank a few beers with them. We had a really good time. Splurged on breakfast this morning, 2 pancakes, syrup, very small amount of butter, 2 sausages and 2 bacon along with 2 cups OJ. WOW, almost 1000 calories. Breakfast was late so I was still able to stay within my calorie goals. Bad things was, fiber was only 9 grams for the whole day.

Back to hitting it hard tomorrow. Chest, tri's, back, bi's and shoulders along with 30 minutes or so on the bike. Talk to y'all later. Take care, Greg

TRIAL, but not ERROR!!!

I was on my way to work this morning and broke off a hunk of one of my molars. I couldn't find a local dentist available so I made the hour drive to Tulsa, spent 2 hours in the dentist chair (Crown, ouch). I didn't let it stop me. It did affect my calorie intake (only 1200 calories so far today) but I was set on working out. So, I did.

Fully recovered from the push up duel! Absolutely invigorating! I was so pumped to have all sorts of muscles sore from one exercise. I think I will incorporate these into 1 of my 2 chest workouts each week.

Workout:
Bench Press 6x10-12
Tricep Pushdowns 6x8-10
Lat pulldowns (front) 3x10
Close grip pulldowns (v-bar) 3x10
Preacher curls 4x8-10
Standing curls (curl bar)2x12
Shoulder raises, 3 supersets, front/side/rear laterals, 8 reps each per set

I finished off with 30 minutes on the bicycle. Continue to sweat like a pig but I love cardio. Will follow up with another workout and cardio session tomorrow.

I was reading an article in Fitness RX today about HIIT training on the stationary bike. I am planning on incorporating this on my cardio only day (Wednesday). If anyone has any ideas for this, let me know. I am looking for a beginner program for HIIT on a stationary bike. I will also post in the HIIT section. Thanks, Greg

I was able to get my food intake up to around 1600 calories yesterday despite my dental catastrophe. Everything feels good this morning.

My weight is 234, down from 241.5 last week. I know that's a bunch of weight for a week but I know the majority is water. I'm really focusing on keeping calories at 2000 plus and using weights/cardio for the rest of the deficit.

Off to work for a while, then legs and traps tonight with 30 minutes on the stationary. Am going to hold off on HIIT for another couple of weeks until I get in a little better shape.

That's it for now. Gotta take the kiddo to school then go get a little work done myself. Take care, Greg

Register For The Event

I pulled this from G8r's log- and no it's not a piece of corn-- LOL ahahahaha I am so funny.

anyhow---
Wow, I did a metric century ride this past summer. It was a lot of fun. But, we didn't ride hard and stopped every 10-12 miles. I would like to do an actual century this year but I'll have to continue to lose weight and bike, bike, bike. The furthest I had ridden before the ride was around 26 miles continuously. However, I made it with a little quad cramping on and off.

so- it is my purpose to encourage you on this. If you find a race within a 3-4 hour drive, for the month of June, July or August (yes that is summertime)..... do a search, register for it. GET THE MONEY AND SIGN UP.

you will have an entirely new vigor to every drip of sweat, and we will help you complete, and probably COMPETE, in the age group class.

FF

There are actually quite a few rides around this area. I would ultimately like to do the "hotter than hell hundred" in Wichita Falls Texas in August. I believe it's the 3rd week in August and it's usually scorching hot. People drop like flies, usually between miles 60-80 from what I've read. I've got a guy at work that I ride with sometimes and he is willing to do a hundred miler. So, I'll keep riding and complete one before the summer is over. If you Florida folks weren't so far away we could suffer together. Thanks for the encouragement.

I've been wanting back on the fitness wagon for a while but obviously didn't want it bad enough. Now, between my blood pressure being a little high, my cholesterol at 211 or 212 and simply being sick of being fat I think I'm finally in it for the long haul. Fitday is my saving grace. It has allowed me to stay full while most days meeting my nutrient goals. I used to think that if I wasn't hungry then I couldn't possibly be losing weight. Live and learn. Thanks again gentlemen! Greg

"I'll keep training and finish one by the end of the summer." yeah ok! No cigar!

you will not get the benefit I am talking about until you register and you have your confirmation. IT IS JUST NOT THE SAME.

oh, and what makes ya think a road trip is out of the question?

Whoa big boy, the temps are still in the 30's here with a possibility of snow tonight. Give a brotha a chance to find a race. Maybe 1/2 way between here and Florida, hehehe. The metric century I did last summer was the "Tour de Corn" in East Prairie Missouri. I registered for it the morning of the event. 63 miles of nothing but flatness, wind and corn fields!

Workout: Legs and traps

Leg Presses 6x12
Leg extensions 5x12
Leg curls 4x8
Calf presses 4x15
Upright rows 3x12
Shrugs 2x12

Stationary bike: 30 minutes

FOOD INTAKE:

I was right at 2000 calories today. Carbs and fat OK. Protein still a little low. A perfect situation for a small protein shake but somehow it totally slipped my mind. After 30 minutes on the bike what do you expect, hehehe?

Tomorrow: No weights, 45-60 minutes on bike. Will resume weights and cardio both on Thursday and Friday.

Off to shower then to bed. Take care, Greg

UPDATE: I decided to make 1/2 of a protein shake with the Isagenix powder my friend gave me last summer.......ARGHHH, that stuff is gross. It did get help my nutrient intake for the day but I bet I find some other protein powder cuz this stuff is gross. Better yet, I will eat real food.

Went out to eat lunch with my wife today, mexican food. I decided on a salad with beef fajita meat and salsa as the dressing. A little high in sodium but I stayed within my calorie goals. Ate sparingly on the chips and salsa beforehand too.

No weights tonight. Settled on 48 minutes on the bike. I was able to get my heart rate up to 179 or so, darn close to my max. I felt really good. Off to the shower then to bed. Back to weights and cardio tomorrow. Take care, Greg

That's a kick@ss workout hoss...

Gotta keep pushin forward!

I had to edit my previous msg. I actually spent 48 minutes on the bike. There are 16 time slots on the grid on my bike so it makes it easier to have each one be a whole minute number so I can keep track of how much longer the pain has to go on. There's something about basic math and lack of oxygen that just don't go together well. Guess I'll have to switch the biking time to 32 minutes on my weight and cardio days.

I appreciate the encouragement.

P.S. - tell FF that I've signed up for the same metric century that I did last year so he'll lay off me. You'd think if he worked out as hard as he says that he wouldn't have so much energy to talk smack, hehehe. Gotta find a century close and I'll get signed up for that too.
