Hey everyone. my current weight for the challenge is 331. I will post more later, gotta run. LETS GO NEWBIES
 
I just weighed myself today and I weigh 295.

I'm still working on an exersize program. I'm too poor to afford a gym membership, I am in Minnesota (aka the coldest state in the continental USA) and so it's too cold to walk long distances outside, so I am going to order some exersize tapes off of ebay.

I actually am a really new newbie and yesterday was my first grocery shopping day since I joined here so I just bought a whole bunch of healthy stuff to eat.

Im pretty limited on the amoubt of excersize i can do as i have a recovering split pelvis ... so walking and a bit of jogging is my limit lol
 
Pushing my stroller with a 20 lb baby in it all over the hills! Man these hills here just KILL me. My weekend plan: make it to the gym at least once and LAY OFF THE MARAGARITAS! Lol, good luck everyone! Let's kick some moldy oldie a$$!!

How sad is it that I can only go the the gym at the club house
(at my apartment complex) on Saturday!
Because when I go to work & when I get home they are closed.
I live on the 3rd floor and cant do work out tapes at home, because the down stairs neighbor al ready hates me. :(
As you know winter is coming and walking at night(in the dark or early morning)alone is something I'm not willing to chance.
I could walk when I'm at work (alone), but then I get all stinky.
I can't pay for a different gym membership, because funds are tight.
Please Help a fellow newbie, figure out what to do.

Change you could do it, maybe a bit modified but like in my class the first thirty minutes is just learning form. It woudl actually be good for you inner core. But start where you feel most comfortable and before you know it you'll be slinging punches. :)

thank you so much NB!! It does feel good to reach the ten pd mark, it has more of a punch to it.

Miss Apple Tart, if you are using video's don't forget thrift stores and Hollywood video here is getting rid of all their VCR tapes for 99 cents, I've seen exercise one's. And congrats for starting!

KTbabe what in the world is a split pelvis, that sounds perfectly awful!

KDEL you have EVERY right to exercise in your house, as long as you get it done by 10:00 at night by law you can do whatever the heck you want in your house. Maybe if you are really worried about her, leave a nice note on her door. Just explain you would like to get healthier and your only option is to do exercise tapes. I can't imagine caring if my neighbor took an hour to exercise! But if you just really don't want to. Consider interval training. It would outside but its quick. Could probably get a good work out in within twenty-thirty minutes. I still say use video's though, its YOUR house you have the right! Oh and your apartment complex whats the deal, generally those are 24 hours. Maybe you should talk to the maanger and ask that keys be drawn up for all apartment owners, that way you all can get in when you need to but the doors are locked if no one is using it. Thats how all the apartment complex's here do it, if they didn't no one would be able to use it. Explain to them most people work during the day?! Sheesh. And one more thing. On the weekends hit thrift stores and garage sales. I'm betting you could find a smallish cycle or stair stepper (even those cheaper elliptical machines) for cheap that you could use in your apartment. Wouldn't take up to much room and wouldn't bother the neighbor. I've seen them from 50.00 to 20.00 at both places (oh and if you have a craigs list in your area look there). Also maybe a resistant band and a stability ball? I bet you could do some cardio with those two things, get your heart rate up and not bother the lovely downstairs downstairs neighbor. Pilates video too, the stars swear by it and its all low impact (aka quiet).
 
Forgot Kdel I used to do Tao BO tapes he has a low impact one and a few of the others do NOT have to much jumping around, I used to skip the jumping jacks and besides those there was not a lot of jumping around. I lived in a second floor apartment and was worried about my downstairs neighbors. Thats why I picked them. Super hard but super quiet. And I didn't feel like a big ol dork dancing in my living room.:)
 
Great Ideas Dharmawaits, I picked up some free weights today and a small bench- I'm going to try the fitness made simple CD I got from my friend.The indoor bike sounds good too for cardio. Now I'm happy, Thanks:D
The only door to the gym is from in the club house.So I'm out of luck.
(But a good thing is I do have all the stairs to clime every)
I could go walking at the Mall every night during winter too,
just thought of that:p
 
You are both right. I feel better already. I am starting to see how it feels to eat healthy. I got a good night sleep and I am energized. Sleep is so under rated. Especially if you are working out as well.

Lets go Newbies I am going on the bike for another 30 minutes.
 
Hello everyone, im a bit embarassed seeing as im only 16 and im pretty big.....Most people say im pretty athletic(I played football my freshman and sophmore year, but I recently quit), but Im not happy with my weight at all. I was wondering how much does everyone try to run/walk per day?
 
hey Matt, im Emily, and im 17 and bigger than u, plus im female, so dont feel bad, lol, i normally walk/jog for at least an hour a day, but you should probably start out at 30 minutes a day at first, or whatever you are most comfortable with!! :) Now, I am on the oldies team, so im gonna scoot back over there, hope this helped :)

How about going to a nearby mall for walks, and taking the stairs instead of the escalator. Exersize AND window shopping...YAY.

It's just an idea.

I am glad to see the excitement in here.... :) :)

Over the weekend I walked 3 miles on Sat. and 6 miles on Sun thought that this would help me drop somes pounds .... I only lost 1 pound life is so unfair:eek:

tonight after work I have 1 hour scheduled areobics I hope this works.

But I am not giving up....
