Hi my name is Nathaniel I am 23. I have always been a big guy I have a 2 year old daughter and I am terrified that my life choices will cause me not to be the father I would love to be for her. Right now I weigh 370 lbs and it is at a point that I am disgusted with myself. I am not sure how to get the motivation I need to keep up with a diet and exercise plan. Iv started several times and I will lose the drive and I guess I'm just asking for any advice

What's up Nathaniel,
I just joined today. A year ago I was in the same predicament as you. What motivated me was my kiddos. I want to be around as long as possible. Every day is a new day, a new start. You just have to start. Don't wait any longer man. You can do this. Look i started with giving up nothing but soda and dropped a lot of weight with that alone. That motivated me even more. Make being active a habit, even if you don't feel like it. I lost 100 lbs in a year and I still got a ways to go, but I am not going to stop. I started a website called to help people. I have some recipes and tips to lose weight, and some programs I have tried and recommend. All at home.

That's great. Keeping busy is a great distraction man. How about diet? How is that going for you? Do you have a goal in mind? Lifting is a great way to boost fat loss. Keep going every day don't stop.

Awesome man. Thanks. I was told by the moderator, that I should not have put that link in there about my site. I apologize to you for that. I don't want to be known as a spammer. I just want to help. There are lots of ways to lose weight, and I still do that program today. I love it. I'm here to help man. If you need anything or have any questions, I am here to help, give advice, and just hopefully be that little push you need. This quote I heard which I like says It Doesn't Matter How Slow You Go, You Are Still Moving Faster Than The People On The Couch.

I drank smoothies when I first started my weight loss journey every morning. It was easy to make and keep track of the calories. It was a lot less than my normal breakfast. The main thing to remember is you don't want to throw too much fruit in there because fruit has a lot of sugar. I now add as much greens like Kale as I can stomach. Also get you a free calorie counter, that I can say truly helped me the most. No one likes to count calories but the apps make it easier.

Good deal. Plenty of time left in the day to still get that walk in. Make sure you target a different area when lifting man. Don't forget to set some goals. Short term goals first. And then lets crush em

Well, looks like you already got yourself at least one friend so far - that didn't take long.

Anyway, welcome to the forum. My suggestion is to start a journal in the Weight Loss Diary section (if you haven't already). Most of the members spend their time in that section and check in on each other fairly regularly. We all keep tabs on one another and try to do our best to offer advice, give support when its needed and basically just be there for people who need it.

I have two kids of my own and the fear of not being around for their future is one of my biggest motivators when it comes to losing weight and getting healthy. However, I can't just do it for my kids - I have to do it for myself. Yes, my kids are inspiration (as is my wife), but I had to take a long, hard look at myself to find the desire to get healthy for myself before I was able to start making honest changes in my life. It's easy to say "I'm going to get healthy for my kids" and then eat healthy and exercise for a quick week or two, but outside motivation quickly fades. It quickly fades because you'll end up making excuses to NOT be healthy. Why? Because, unless you are doing it for you, you are never going to change.

It's great that you're using your kids as motivation, but I hope you can find a reason within yourself to change as well.

Good luck.
