New Years Resolutions

I dont make New Year Resolutions. All of my personal fitness desires and aspirations had already been set before the new year started. However, I did two things on New Years Eve:

1. Took the Mrs. out to dinner to celebrate our marriage, and talk about the new year coming and how are love and respect for one another can grow and prosper. We are entering our 25th year of marriage. We both been married, once. :) (my choices in this dinner remained in my calorie restrictions, no alcohol). Finding a place without the added New Year crap was difficult, but we found one that suited the environment wanted.

2. Gave fat tissue loss a new year welcome, with 3 cardio sessions, and stay on track with my calarie deficit projections. There will NOT be any post Holiday complications or blues for me. I welcomed the New Year with being about 6 lbs heavier and still as mean and lean as ever and couldnt be personally any happier.

Actually, I like the food challenges the the holidays impose on me, it makes me stronger--especially when I see others around me complain on the unwanted tissue weight they "wish" they wouldnt have gained but did by the choices they made. I eat some things I normally dont, but it stays within restrictions set and I still enjoy the holidays emmensely.

3. Took both my sons (19 and 22) out to dinner and celebrate our relationship and plan some things for the coming new year. (my choice remained in calorie restrictions, no alcohol)

Hope everyone's New Year went accordiing to plans.

Keep ROCKEN!

It's nice to hear everything is well for you chillen.

The holiday food issues are something that are kind of good for me in the sense that I have a hard time eating enough. On new years day I ate a lot. I had Mexican food, ice cream, Chinese food and all sorts of other things. It's been easier to eat enough calories.

I guess I didn't have any resolutions because I'm already doing what I want to be doing. Right now, I'm pretty satisfied with my weight and with my body. I guess now, I just need to maintain it. I want to start focusing more on strength and endurance in weight training next semester.

I guess if I had to make one resolution, it would be to work more cardio in to my workouts. I'm already running (and I hate it), but I'd like to push myself a little harder even if it means having to eat more.

Oh, and one thing I've decided to do, since I have the money now, is to et a pool membership for the pool in my neighborhood. I've always wanted one since we moved to this neighborhood 12 years ago. Now, I'm an adult and I have the money, so I can shell out the dough for a pool key. It opens in April. It seems like a good way to get cardiovascular exercise without the torture of running.

Alright, I guess perhaps I have some goals that I've been working on well before the new years:

1) Go back to college and get a second degree in Accounting. I'm planning to get another degree this summer in Accounting, which will take roughly 5 years to complete since I'm working full time. Hopefully I can complete the degree sooner, and get my double major.
2) Continue with my fitness. I want to maintain and be happy in my current state.
3) Read books. This is corny, but I've been really wanting to start reading books besides tech stuff which I normally read. I want to read novels, and enjoy it.

Actually, I'm on the same page ( excuse the pun :) )

One of my main resolutions for the upcoming year is to spend at least 1+ hours a day reading ( for fun ) - or at the very least - to spend as many hours reading per week as I do exercising.

- Paying more attention to pre & post workout nutrition.

- Being a better 'citizen' at work (e.g., dealing with meetings & other administrative crap even if I'd rather be at the gym or rink)

- Patience, patience, patience.

Well...... I have no specifics on goals right now. We are going to have our goal setting meeting this Saturday. That is where we will hammer out all of the strength and sporting goals.

That one we are going to video, so I will post it sometime next week.

We will be having the business goal setting meeting next week. That will be good, starting to make sure we are focused on the right things.

Though I have no specifics, my macro-goals are -

1. Get a Lot more explosive.
2. Throw things a LOT farther.
3. Set some specific plans for business.

That is all for now.

I will post as things move on.

Sport applications-
1. Throw farther
2. Get out of 3rd place in my Games

Misc-
1. Dunk a basketball
2. Try 12 new beers

Lifting-
1. 405 front squat
2. 315 push press

I was gonna make some resolutions, but it seems like every time I start talking about this or that, my training goes kaput. So, guess I'll shut up and see how it goes. Good luck to everyone and have a great 2008. Greg

I don't make resoultions. They get broken. My goals however are as follows. I will list the non-fitness ones first.

1 Finish my first two semesters for my Associates in Applied Sciences for Automotive Technology.

2 Get a job working at a Toyota dealership so I will already have my foot in the door for when I finish my degree program.

3 Start savings accounts for children (which I do not have yet).

4 Start my Roth IRA up and rollover my 403b into it (around my 24th B-day).

5 Start an account for a downpayment on a house.

Now the fitness ones:

1 Be able to run for a full 30 minutes without getting winded or having to use my inhailer.

2 Drop about 20 pounds of fat.

3 Even out the muscle on both sides of my body by using my left (weak) side more when working out.

4 Find a good trail when my wife and I can both ride comfortably (i.e. no huge drops/climbs).

5 Manage to find my way around the gym for the next two months while the "Resolutionists" are hogging up the equipment. :boxing_smiley:

 Lettuce

Just curious, how many people are still on course to hit their goals?

Personally, my BF% is down but so is my weight so I have some big eating to get done in the next 7 months

Not me, but than again (as stated above) I don't make resolutions to avoid breaking them. lol.

I have however managed to limit the use of my inhailer to practically nothing. I had to use it yesterday cause one of the doctors was wearing some HORRENDOUS cologne and it set me off, but I don't need it at the gym anymore.

Other than that, I've managed nothing. School and a full time job doesn't help tho.

I'm failing miserably at mine. Mine was to make my marriage work at all costs.

But it takes 2 to keep that resolution going.

You didnt mention you were having marriage problems :(

I am deeply saddened to here this, Kraken.

I hope it works out for the both of you, young man.
