Weight-Loss New Year's/Biggest Loser Style Challenge

Oh I hear ya on the extra work Star :). I cant do the other challenge because for me its all about the goals I can reach, such as the weekly exercise or whatever other weekly requirement, rather than the weight loss since I haven't lost even a pound in several months .. boo hoo. With the other challenges being focused only on how much weight you lose, that wont help me much. But alas, I'm not an excel queen either..
 
I really enjoyed the Christmas Challenge. You did a great job running it. I hope I can sign up in time for this one, I have a feeling it will be filling up fast.

Thank You. :) We'll see how quickly people sign up. I might extend it to 39 or 42 if there are enough interested. And then have the bottom 4 of each team eliminated the first week, and the bottom 3 from then on. Or I could wait until the individual phase starts and eliminate the bottom 4 individuals at the end of week 5. That way it increases people's chances of staying in it longer.

What do you all think?

I think that allowing everyone in that wants to sign up reasonably quickly and qualifies and then being heavier on the elimination is a great idea. It means that people that miss the thread in the first few hours do not risk being unable to play. This is particularly relevant since we are all in different time zones. It is quite possible that I could wake up and find that a thread had been posted and filled while I slept.

You were asking about Phoebe (Allyphoe). When I last heard - she was on holiday at Disney World - so she might not see your posting immediately. It may be worth sending her a PM. I like the idea of a losers challenge.

We dont get this Biggest Loser program over here. It sounds quite good though.

I'm going to do a bit of fiddling with excel over the holidays and see what I can come up with on my own. :biggrinjester: I need to learn excel anyway. :banghead:

If you're going to have a big complicated spreadsheet again, may I suggest you do the weight loss points based on percentage of start weight (or percentage of prior weigh-in weight), rather than straight pounds? IIRC, that's how they do it on the show, and it levels the playing field a bit - someone 6'8" with a 300-pound start weight would be expected to lose more pounds in a given period than someone 4'9" with a 150-pound start weight, even if they were both aiming for a 50-pound loss.

No way am I doing this one - I won't have the time to devote to it. But good luck to all who do! :)

Using percentages would make it more fair for people like Blancita who don't have much left to lose, but are really struggling to lose it. If I do percentages, you'd get 2pts for a 1% loss. So if you lost .8% you get 1.6pts that week.

Ooh, this looks fun! I only tried one challenge before, but it didn't go too well. I think I'd do better in this; I love competition! >;D
