Weight-Loss New WLF Team Challenge

Weight-Loss

San2

Mod
New Challenge rules for the individual phase starting as of 25th May 2013.

Omega is leading for the individual phase

1/ All challenge points earned by each individual during the team phase are carried over to the individual phase.

2/ Points continue to be earned in much the same way:
  • water: 1 point per litre of water with a maximum of 3 points per day - so a maximum of 21 points per week
  • exercise: 1 point per 30 minutes of exercise with a maximum of 2 points per day - so a maximum of 14 points per week.
  • minichallenge: different points announced for performing a task each week

injuries
people who are unable to exercise due to injury can earn an equivalent of the 2 exercise points if they carefully count calories and bring them in at an appropriate level for weight loss - bearing in mind that this will be at a lower level than normal due to the lack of exercise... they need to announce the calorie limit that they are using.

I will announce the mini challenge.

New people
New people can join at any time.
People that have left the challenge can choose to rejoin at any time.
People joining the challenge (or rejoining) will be given a bonus of 80% of the average points earned by other players for the missing weeks.
This means that new people will be given a point level within reach of other players - but the people who have worked hard on the challenge all along will have some reward for all their hard work thus far.

Weight loss

Points will be awarded for weight loss based on the percentage of weight lost during the full duration of the challenge.
Weight loss is in some ways such a random thing that no scaling is done to allocate weight loss points to new players.
If new players have recorded their weight as the challenge started (even though they were not playing in the challenge at that time) they can claim weight loss points for the full weight loss.

5 points for every % lost - parts of a point can be claimed to give credit for all weight lost - round points upwards to 1 decimal place. (1.5% =7.5points)

I asked San to remind me of other parts of the point structure agreed at the start - and she reminded me of these:

30 points for the before and after pictures.

30 points for getting with the 1.5% range of the weight loss predicted at the start

San, it looks good, complicated a bit, but good.

I really want to be in this one but I know it hasn't started but I already have a problem. I will be out of town for the upcoming weekend and will not be back until Monday. I do not know how the internet connectivity will be where I am going as I will be attending a conference and I doubt the internet in the hotel will be free. Usually where these things are held is a minimum of $25.00 per day for internet access, this I refuse to pay.

So can I post my beginning stats on Monday if I encounter this problem? If I get access even for a little while I will post on Saturday or as close to it as I can. As it stands I doubt I will be able to post my stats for the conclusion of the WL competition that I am in now because of this.

Please let me know if I will be able to do this as I would be travelling early Monday morning and I know this would be the latest I would post my stats. Oh yeah, and if there is a mini challenge for the first week, could you post it by Wednesday so that I won't be behind.

Transparent - post your score-sheet now and then update the start weight as soon as you can.

Yupp, Transparent, just post it now, and put your starting stats in whenever you can. No problem at all. :)

And no, no mini challenge in the first week, and the one for the second week will be posted by me. I will try to have mini challenges posted by Wednesday for the following Saturday, but as said, the first week will be mini challenge free. :)

And welcome to everybody who is on board. So far, it looks as if we have 5 people -

Omega
Camila
Justina
Transparent
and Me.

That'd be enough for the first team. There were more people in the other thread, so hopefully they will find their way over here. If not, I might give them some gentle nudges. ;)

I'd like to try this out. My new exercise bike should arrive tomorrow so I'll be able to start exercising at home before my wellness center membership kicks in April 1st.

My treadmill got here today so ill be up for it :) I plan on spending an hour a day on it that'll be an easy 2 points a day. Plus I work in a hot plant and have started drinking nothing but water I go through at least 5 16.9 ounce bottles just at work a day since I'm on these 12 hour shifts.

That's great. It sounds like you are getting ready to earn lots of points for your team.

Hello BelindaR and jsaund, welcome to the challenge! It's good to have you on board. If you haven't already done so, please post a scoresheet into the scoresheet thread, and that's all you need to do for now! :)

I will wait until Thursday afternoon to see if more people join, and to set up the teams, so keep an eye on this thread for any news. :)

I will be joining the challenge :) I need to first buy a weight scale. I already have my excersise routine figured out. Luckily, I have woods near where I live with lots of hills to walk on. My ipod has a timer on it. I also might need help on figuring out what a reasonable weight loss goal is. I am not good at figuring that out.

Name: Jimmy
Team Name:

March 23rd starting weight:315
Goal weight loss: (60) lbs = (17.46)%

Will probably have to edit this the 23rd since I've already started dieting and will start working out tomorrow. Those first few pounds seem to come off quick and I wouldn't want an unfair advantage

I am so pleased that you are both joining us.

Don - you are a perfect fit for a challenge - and I know how focused you are and how amazingly well you have been doing... you will be a fantastic contender and team-mate... the rest of your team will be fortunate to have you.

Zynische and Jsaund86 - very few people manage to lose more than 1% per week across a challenge... some people manage it... I work very hard but do not manage to get as much as that... Its a 14 week challenge... Also - everyone has a different attitude towards targets... some people would rather set a more achievable target as they want the good feeling of having accomplished their goal... other people like to set a very high target - feeling that they want to shoot for the skies in the hope that it will drive them to achieve more... I am going to set 14% of my start weight for my target weight loss - but I am pretty sure that I will not achieve it... It is all a bit of fun... In the last challenge there were people who decided not to set a target as they felt that it would worry them... that was fine too...

Thanks, Omega! Seeing you were in here helped make the decision for me as I believe in you! Frankly, my focus is still OK, but not as sharp as a month ago, so I'm using this to help infuse some needed energy into my efforts. I'm looking forward to it.

Says the man who has lost 59.2 pounds in virtually no time flat and has just had a forum party because he has brought his weight into the 300s... :biggrinjester: you have more energy in your efforts than many people ever imagine possible...
