My Quest: To Become a Spartan

Uggh...I'm beat. Had to be up early for another long day of child care, and this time we had a field trip. They're fun, but much more exhausting. I can't remember the last time I tied so many pairs of bowling shoes, haha.

My legs are still a little tight, so I decided to take it easy today. I was running back and forth for eight hours, and I know I got a decent bit of cardio along with the kids. I never get tired of hide-and-seek :D

Because of that, I only jogged an easy quarter mile to loosen myself up before doing my lower body workout. I know I ran much more than that, but I have no way of estimating how much with any semblance of accuracy, so I'll just be adding the quarter mile to the log:

Thanks. That's what I'm hoping for.

I was on my feet from a little before 9:00 this morning until almost 3:45. I'm more or less used to it from the long breaks I've spent working. It's fine when I'm there, but the longish drive home and sitting around resting just tightens the muscles up for the rest of the day. I should know better by now....

At least next week school resumes and I work a few hours each afternoon instead.

Because of this same tightness I had some pretty decent discomfort on the treadmill earlier. Only managed to go about a mile, but it's better than nothing. I thought it best to end the session early when I started cramping and risked falling. So....

oh trust me i know. i work retail; and my days always consist of atleast nine hours, sometimes starting as early as 3am

Haha, dang, they still have a 3:00 in the morning?

Yep, it was easier today. The week I took off between Christmas and New Year's definitely took its toll. Man, I'd gotten soft over those few days :p

Took it pretty easy today. With warm-up slowly building up to a good pace I ran 2 miles in 22:30. Definitely nothing to brag about, but I guess it's alright considering a good deal of time was used to get the blood flowing again.

No, no. We get a lunch break, but it's in the lunchroom with the kids. I'm still watching over them, so I can't concentrate on eating with all the distractions that come up. Gotta help the younger ones open things. The older ones goof off and cause messes if you don't watch them. Spills happen even when everyone's careful. By the time I've taken care of all of these, I'm lucky to have finished half my lunch. A couple of years ago, I got tired of the stop-and-go eating so I ate before I went in and after I got off. Not the best for my metabolism, and it's definitely one of my habits I've got to break.

Decided to take a break yesterday since I haven't had one in a while and my friends were all in town for the spring semester. Woke up late today from the longish night ready to go.

Two miles in just over 21 minutes followed by an upper body workout. All finished in around 45 minutes.

Just a little more than 24 hours to go!

Thanks, Chillien! Your posts always prove to be encouraging, no matter who they're targeting.

Just got done with a quick mile on the treadmill and lower body workout. I'll probably be doing more tonight, but I had some time to kill today, and what better way to spend it?

Great job! You have the mentality to COOK yourself into what you want.

Stir it up, Baby!

Keep up the good work!

Woohoo! Another two miles. Total running time was under 20 minutes, but I had to stop twice: once to tie my shoe and once more to stretch my calves that started cramping a little. Pushed through it though.

Weigh-in tomorrow! Can't wait to see the numbers!

free running ie:parkour?

Yep, that's it.

I'm so flipping excited right now. Just weighed in at 178.6, so my first goal is completed! That's almost four pounds since I started this journal less than two weeks ago. Calorie cutting and cardio for the win!

I knew before I stepped on the scale that I would be happy without whatever it read. I'm feeling good. My pants are fitting even better (did I mention this last semester had me eating all kinds of crap?). I'm seeing some definition coming out, but it's not quite there yet.

I think I may keep cutting for another couple of weeks to get as much definition as possible until building up again.

Thanks everyone!

Just added another easy two miles. Might have pics up tonight if I'm feeling courageous.

Another mile and upper body workout with the Swiss ball. Still love that thing.

Messed up the diet a little with some birthday barbecue, but I found myself eating a small portion anyway since my stomach seems to have shrunk with the "more frequent smaller meals" plan.

Another mile-and-a-half warm up followed by some lower body work.

I took a small break last night instead of hitting the treadmill again to take care of some stuff, and I woke up full of energy. Felt pretty good.

And another mile-and-a-half to make it an even three for the day.

Cheated a bit on the diet earlier and had some pizza. Now I feel pretty crappy all around. My stomach's trying to cope with it again, and I'm not feeling so good for giving in. Gotta fix that.
