Cohen's Lifestyle My Personal Journey

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Week 3 Day 6

Woah, woah, woah...heading in to Week 4 REAL soon.

Love it! It's the weekend again. Planning to do some shopping this weekend for a couple of cooking utensils. Should be buying a new frying pan and a griller. I want to have a change in cooking style!

I hopped onto the scale this morning and it read 79.3kg! That's cool! Finally I think I've broken past the plateau and the scale is moving downwards again. Wait a minute, I'm weighing less even before I clear my bowel for the day! Hence, I believe, I'm actually weighing very much less than that now!

I'm beginning to have an inkling that when I take prawns for dinner, I can almost for sure see a drop the next day. However, if I were to take chicken for dinner, the weight likely not going to move. So, I'm trying to stick to prawns for a while and see what happens. Moreover, I actually had tomatoes yesterday for the first time and the weight continues to drop so I think it is the type of meat that makes the difference for me :willy_nilly:.

Nice feeling to be waking up so early for breakfast and realising that I've got so many hours ahead on a Saturday. I generally like Saturdays because I feel it is truly more of a weekend than Sunday. Should be catching a movie today or stuck playing PS3 at home as my hubby has just purchased a new game yesterday - my favourite : Resident Evil 5!!!! I've not started to explore the game yet, so I most likely would be doing that today. I do also want to catch the movie, Dragonball Revolution! Heard so much hype about it...yipee...fantastic weekend ahead!

Hi FlaMie, & thanks for your sweet words in my diary. Now, you can say that you are in the 70's!!! Yay!!! I find prawns or tuna are good for my weight-loss too. Cheers, cate

Wonderful start to Week 4! Week 3 Day 7

Wonderful, wonderful...simply exhilarating! I guess I must have done something superbly right yesterday because I see a big drop from yesterday...well at least to me is a big drop enough. Had a weigh in to psych myself up for week 4 which is tomorrow. Woah! I've lost another 0.5kg from yesterday and the first reading was actually 78.4kg! Not convinced, I stepped onto the weighing machine and the final reading was 78.7kg...still happy enough. I'll take the 2nd reading as my current weight then. Woo...will update my ticker in a while. So exciting!

I didn't have to rely much on my crackers to get me through my day any more. Fruits wise, I'm consuming them really for the fibre because I notice that I only clear my bowels now like once every 2-3 days...hoping that I can push out on a daily basis...LOL.

As I approach my last week of my 1st month, I'm secretly hoping that I can go down another 1.7kg this coming week to make it 10kg loss for the first month. Well, even if this is impossible, a 9kg loss for the first month would still be brilliant. I'm generally feeling a LOT happier now. Guess the seratonin has kicked in and I'm now enjoying the happy effects of losing weight.

Hunger pangs...yes, I still get them BUT it is generally nearing meal time or when I've actually waited longer than 5 hours in between meal time...sometimes, I only start feeling hungry only after 7 hours. Good enough because considering the amount of food I'm consuming now. It really sets me wondering why (in the past) I could go hungry despite the MASSIVE volume I was eating in shorter time and often go hunting for food. Think I was a pig but never quite realised it.

I'm beginning to 'try out' some old clothes which I've bought but couldn't fit (dumb ass) as well as some which I've folded and thought never to be able to put on again. So happy that I actually managed to fit comfortably into an 'XL' Bossini t-shirt which incidentally is loosely fitting! I've also managed to fit into my size 14 skirts which I've abandoned like 6 years ago! I guess my bottoms are losing faster than my top. I think it is kinda tough to lose my arm but still they are losing slowly but surely.

Way to go ... HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!

Week 4 Day 1 - Woohoo

Landing into my first day of my first month journey on Cohen AND dare I say that I've not deviated a single bit! I daren't even go out for a meal...strictly ALL home cooked food. Boring perhaps BUT 100% sure of no deviation...I need to save those meal out in case of emergencies!

Had a fantastic weigh in this morning. I've lost another 0.4kg from yesterday and that makes it 700g over 2 days! Golly, I'm hitting the roof! Every little gram down is every little gram, no matter how little. Oh! I think I might just may make it to 10kg loss this month - as I've another 6.5 days to ensure I lose another 1.3kg.

Have to wake up at 6.30am this morning for breakfast even though it is the holidays! School is having some professional training and team-building thingy and I will need to be home after the first session for lunch at 11.30am hence the need to wake up early. Well, I rather the little inconvenience and ensure 100% non-deviation. See how extreme I've gone! I will not allow any slip ups ... NO WAY, NOT YET!

Got a new brand of yogurt but somehow I think they all taste the same when low fat and natural...yucky! I had to add sweetener else there's no way to swallow it down. I'm beginning to enjoy yogurt but the sourish taste is still hard to swallow so I usually go with sweetener. Yogurt is fast to prepare and quick to eat. NO oil is the name!

Will update again some time later today...See ya for now! :waving:

You are going SO WELL FlaMie - sounds like you're well and truly into the "Cohen Zone" where you just ride on air for a while and feel great!

I noticed your tip about seafood rather than chicken - I'll have to do something as I'm stuck on a plateau and do prefer chicken over seafood. I've refused to eat tuna the last few weeks. Oh well, maybe I'll try the prawns - I don't really go on them, but prefer them to tuna.

Bowel habits do slow down on this - well, for me anyway. It's a bit annoying, but manageable. Drinking lots helps.

I have two yoghurts which I'm really happy with, but think they're only available in Western Australia. One is Browne's, and the taste is really good. The other is Black Swan - exquisite texture! They are the only two non-fat natural yoghurts I can stand!

PS - on the clothes... well, I suppose everyone is different and it depends what kind you normally wear.

I still wear some of my bigger tops, they just hang loose but stay on, and look OK. In fact, I get more comments when I wear those because they LOOK like I've lost lots of weight. I don't wear the hugest floaty ones any more though.

I have some skirts that I wear to work that fit, and others that slip all the time.

I reckon at about 2 sizes down, it's time to go shopping! It's amazing what starts to fit and how good it looks - and such a pleasure to walk into ANY clothes shop relativelyl unembarrassed. I still have stacks of clothes from last time I lost weight, all neatly laid into piles of sizes waiting for me to reach them! I've dragged out a few, have more to come! However, it's not QUITE so much fun now that I'm not actually SHOPPING again.

I'm somewhere between 2 to 3 sizes down on what I was clothes-wise. Again, depends on style and cut etc. I'm finding my arms frustratingly slow to move - they are actually losing centimetres, but often something will fit me loosely all over but be tight around the arms. Grrr!

I don't have such a big bottom or legs, so once my abdomen started shrinking, it was easy to drop sizes. But my top half has to catch up now.

The skirt I have on today is rather precarious - shame because I really like it, but won't be able to wear it much longer!

way to go!!

Hey there. Sounds like ur doing an awsome job and remaining on track!! I started my Cohens lifestyle again today but iv already derailed!! I broke the rules BIG TIME- with sour straps (the whole packet), exceeded diet soft drink limit, and now a cpl of rows of Cadbury Dairy Milk Snack chocolate.

I initially lost 30kg in 4mths from June 2006 start of Nov 2006. I lost a cpl more kgs along the way ( i never did the refeed) and got to 68kg from 100kg!!! Im really proud i did that bt now i feel i have to get back on it as im now at 78kg. So its 10kg over a few yrs iv put on so im not happy. And iv had in excess of 7-8 knee ops in this time and due for a knee reconstruction next month- 3rd one on same knee since 05. Bad luck!! But, i feel a lot more inspired that there are ppl out there that do stick to the plan. I wld love to have self control!!!!!! I will one day. I never stuck to it 100% the 1st time around so if i do, i can see things being even better.

I will watch ur progress with interest and i actually draw some strength that it is possible to be faithfull on this- my fiance is suportive but doesnt think i need to do it. He tries to make me healthy pasta but he doesnt get that i CANT HAVE IT. I might have to make him read my program again to re aquant himself with my new lifestyle!! Its gunna be hard, but lifes not meant to be easy hey!!

Way to go, ur doing an awsome job and im sure u will do an fab job and be as successful as u want to be!!!!

Dee xo

Week 4 Day 2 - Another Good Day

I'm really testing my theory - seafood for dinner makes me lose weight faster. True enough, today, there's another 0.4kg drop again! That makes it 1.2kg over a mere 3 days! I've unofficially drop into 77.9kg today! Woalah...can't believe it, another 900grams to 10kg drop for the first month and there's another like 5.5 days more to go...shouldn't be a problem I presume? Nonetheless, I'm not stressing myself as I'm already satisfied with the 9kg loss in the first month. I know I can't be having such good drops all the time but as currently it is happening, I'm basking in it . This week's drop mirrors the drops in the first week as I began on Cohen...wonderful.

Measurement wise, I've also seen drops. I go for inches instead of cms. Since week 1 till yesterday, the drops so far are: bust (3"), Thigh (1.5" - slowest!), Hips (2"), Arm (1" - another slow poke) and waist (2" - great). I'm seeing the 20s real soon for the waist. However, because the arms are not going down fast enough, there is a little problem of fitting into smaller sizes because of the arm hole . Nonetheless, I'm happy enough to see drops...certainly way better than about 3 weeks back where I was 9kg heavier! Geez, how did I carry those extra weight?

Positive Changes So Far:
1. Fitting into 1 size smaller EASILY.
2. Skirt wise - I can wear Country Road Size 14 skirt (abandoned for many years).
3. Improved skin condition.
4. Less oily scalp - used to be real oily!
5. Less oily face.
6. Hardly noticeable knee pain - seems to have receded!
7. Increased energy throughout the day - don't get tired as I used to...I could sleep at the manicurist but not now.
8. Less snoring - according to my hubby.
9. Improved confidence - certainly with less weight around me.
10. More compliments and double looks - hahaha some people are giving me that "she kinda look different, but where/how?"

The list can go on further but I shan't bore anyone before it seems to be bragging!!!! Really I'm not, I just want to share with as many people as possible that the little weight loss can bring about so much improvement! Hope that would actually motivate you to go on the programme.

I was VERY skeptical before I started and even in the beginning of my journey but today, I'm a true believer because to be honest, I've spent no less than $10000 on other slimming methods and they DIDN'T AT ALL WORK! They all look good on the advertisements but results *vary according to them. Sh**!

Oh yes, my hubby is beginning to take a renewed interest in my body...hahah. I shall leave the rest to your vivid imagination... :smilielol5:

FlaMie- Don't ever feel that you are bragging & therefore should stop. What you are doing is wonderful & it is so good to hear how happy you are about it. If you go back & read your posts when you first started you did not have much confidence in your ability to follow the program & to succeed. You are doing this. You are doing this. Brag away!!
Remind yourself every day what you are achieving & tell us how you feel. We want to hear it all. Well maybe not quite all ;) te he, only kidding. It's nice to be loved! I don't think it's just that our men think we are more attractive solely because we have lost weight but a combination of that & us feeling happier & that we feel that we are more attractive, which is probably more important. Keep up the good work FlaMie, xo Cate

I've stopped snoring too, which is fantastic! My husband used to really complain sometimes. Mind you, he quite often snores as well, but he doesn't hear that! Anyway, it means a less obstructed airway at night, which means better sleep. As well as improvements from carrying less weight, that means more energy available in the day! So even though you have less calories to use, you ultimately end up feeling a bit better all around pretty soon.

hAHAHAH Big Sister, if you don't find me a bore, I'll certainly be glad to let you read into my daily life on the Cohen's and certainly after that too :). I'm so happy to have known you and Niyah through this forum. If I were to visit Australia, I'll be sure to go pay you a visit!

YES! My husband's snores are the ones I hear these nights. Surprise, surprise...I actually got awoken by his snores! He is the one getting all the teasings now...hahahah.

Oh...I went shopping this afternoon. Shall update my adventure tomorrow morning. Time is catching up and I shall go sleep early for my HGH!

Lastly, just realised that I've been wearing size 14/16 clothing and they suddenly are fitting hell a lot better! Good news that is for me, I don't have to spend a bomb downsizing just as yet. I'll wear till I truly, honestly and ugily can't put them on any more...rofl :smilielol5:

Week 4 Day 3 - Moving on.

I have been reading loads of personal diaries and loving everyone of it. I'm getting so much advice and inspirations from every one out here who is not selfish to share...such a warm feeling and make this Cohen journey A LOT less painful.

Yesterday, I went do have a new hairdo as well as shopping a little. Hmmm, love my new hair cut which kinda frames my sharpening chin a whole lot better. The slightly shorter hair also makes me feel lighter though didn't lose much weight today from yesterday though. I'm losing inches now hehehe since weight loss and inches losses don't happen concurrently.

As I shop from mall to mall, I was so tempted to buy those smaller sizes but I resisted as there's a little part of me still doubting if I'd ever fit into those. However, I'm pretty sure I no longer need to try on those size 18s...already look too big on me. I'm heading nicely into 14 & 16. 16 for sure comfortably and 14 may just be fitting. I still lack the confidence to really try them out. I think I'll hang on for another 2 weeks before doing that. Besides, asian sizes are a tat smaller than those from Europe/US/Oz...gggrrrrr...can't the world just standardise on this? I'm not going to fool myself. As majority of the clothes in Singapore are Asian sizes, I MUST make sure I can squeeze into a size M which should be a size S for clothes from other countries...irritating!

Okie, I tried something new for breakfast today. I had cucumber instead of lettuce with tuna. Don't enjoy tuna (why can't they just give me salmon?) BUT with cucumber, it tasted fine. Cucumbers give such fresh taste and it kinda mask the horrid tuna fishy smell.

Later on, I'll be heading for a slimming session. Yes, you hear me right, slimming session. The slimming centre has been calling me up for my unused portions of the slimming purchases years ago. So, I've decided I'll go for some toning / shaping up. Inches might improve further especially those horrid arms/thighs. Bet the centre will try to claim credit from my Cohen loss...BUT I WILL GIVE THEM NO CHANCE!

Afternoon's edition:

Ok, what a bummer, I couldn't get to the slimming centre because there was this weekly fumigation at my apartment which I totally forgot. Got stuck at home till I decided to move out to town to get some items.

Initially, I had problem finding something decent to wear because they were mostly too big and the jeans were like at least 3 inches too big at the waist ... and I would look silly wearing it. I dug through my entire wardrobe and found a pair of size 16 jeans (forgotten cos too small in the past). I slipped it on and yes! it fit not just well but loosely too! Hooray and I had to use a belt at the waistband, what a contrast from the past. I actually felt slim in it hahaha.

Headed down to town and bought a grill pan - intend to do some grilling tomorrow. Also got myself a COACH wristlet...a little award for myself for such good, hard work on Cohen. I actually wandered to the food section and never once felt tempted I had to deviate. My only worry was that I had exceeded lunch time and had wanted to search for Cohen friendly food but decided against it. I'd rather head home late for lunch but still undeviated .

My last stops were ZARA and MNG. Ooooo guess what?! I actually begin to think that some of the clothes will look too big for me! Almost bought a dress from MNG (size L!!!! loose cut of cos) but had to wait for dressing room so decided against it. I think I'll go and get this this weekend perhaps...hehehe. I'm so glad I'm on Cohen as I can now walk into NORMAL boutique without feeling that there won't be clothes that would fit me. This will only get better as I stick to the programme totally undeviated! Will see what next month brings me? If I ever ever fit into Armani A/X <-- known for super small sizes, I will hit the roof!

This is my LONGEST post ever but I really want to share ALL my personal experience with whoever drops by. There's really no reason for me to look back now. I know I've already lost 9.3kg worth of weight forever and ever. I will NEVER ever want to go back to the 80s...NO, I RESOLVE it will never happen.

Week 4 Day 4

All good things must come to an end as we all know. Well, the weighing machine has stopped registering any wonderful overnight drops. Guess, I'm into a plateau again waiting for the inches to catch up...we'll see what next day/week (official weigh in) brings me to. Nice feeling to know that I've got another 700g to catch up to my first 10kg drop so just have to see what the body is willing to do.

I couldn't go to bed early yesterday night because had to go pick up my sister from the airport. On the way home, she wasn't feeling well so had to drop her off at the doc's. By the time I was home, it was close to midnight...argh! So I guess that pretty much explains why there's no drop too.

Terribly dull and moody weather over here. It had rained in the early hours of morning. The ground still looks very very wet...hate this sort of weather where even my mood gets affected...wake up feeling grouchy :(.

That's all for now...take care and happy losing inches/kilos...downsizing!

Hi FlaMie- The weather affects my mood a lot too. Thank goodness it's not overcast all the time! It's sunny here today so I have been fairly active & positive. It's best if we at least know why we get grumpy. Don't forget to get out the old tape measure when the scales aren't showing any change....lol, xo Cate

FlaMie, I would have happily sent you some of the dry heat 45 degree days from a couple of months back!

Anyway, glad to say, our weather is now absolutely perfect and I'm loving it! Not windy, low to mid 20's, fine most days. Lovely!

You've done just SO well! Congratulations! A few weeks ago you didn't think you could do this and now you've done it!

I think your four flights of stairs must be a big help on the scales! You're losing it very quickly overall. If you are like everyone else, you may experience a bit of a slow-down. The smaller our bodies get, the less calories are required to keep it going, so it means the Cohen's portion meets a bit more of our needs as we go along. Anyway, that's just how it works, so just stick with it and keep going.

I've got on a Size 16 top today that didn't fit 2 weeks ago - well, it did, except for my ARMS!!! Anyway, arms have obviously lost a bit as it went on today quite well!

Going to try your tip about prawns tonight - all ready! Maybe I'll eat nothing but seafood for the next week and see if I can break through that "80" to the 70's!

Hi Niyah, thanks for the kind words. I don't know if I've done really well but basically i just stick to the programme undeviated. I guess that's the best I can do and the rest I have to let nature takes its course.

I went shopping yesterday and today. Funny, didn't mean to really want to buy anything at the moment. Just wanted to try and fit into the next size down as 16 is a tad too big for me now. I was a 18 and now 16 is loose - my skirt can do a merry go round but not so for the pants though cos of the hedious thighs! Anyway, guess what? I managed to fit into size 14 skirts now! The skirts will prolly take another week or 2 to fit loosely...but who cares...I'll get there! Hooray. Well, not so much for the tops...still a size 16 for a while I guess.

Today, walked into one shop and I naturally went for the largest size available which was only an XL! I was so disappointed but when I put it against me, the salesgirl actually said no, too big...L good enough! Hahahah, you guess it right, I just had to buy it! I don't care if the cut is loose...it is still an L nonetheless!

Week 4 Day 5 - coming to the end of 1st month

Haven't got time to do a proper update in the day today. So busy. Had to go to school to catch up with a bit of work as the new term will begin on Monday...haiz...there goes all the stress again. It's also the exam term which means golly, LOADS of stress...but certainly hope that it won't affect my weight loss or rather fat loss...please dun hang on to the FATS!

As I began the day late today...it had an effect on the rest of the day. I finished breakfast only at around 10am. I don't know why the lettuce felt so much more than usual but I weighed it twice and it did say the portion I was allowed...gggrrr...felt like I was gorging myself to finish it.

As brekkie was finished at 10, lunch could only possibly be earliest at 3...it dragged till 3.30pm and finished by around 4 and yes, you guess it, dinner was closing in at 9!!!! Well, that's done with. Did not finish my portion of crispbread and fruits. Will try to catch up with some fruits in a while though.

The weighing machine was kind to me this morning. Even though I slept real late - computer games! It still registered a 300g drop from yesterday so I'm now down to 77.5kg...holy, just another 500g to the end of 1st month to make it a 10kg drop! Should it happen by Monday, I'll be so glad.

I finally got my body down to the slimming centre yesterday and sadly tomorrow morning again. They took my weight and guess what? It read a whole 7kg down from the last weight I took there! The people were amazed. They worked the usual machine on me and guess what? They deployed their usual tactic of using an 'effective' immediate inch loss machine and urged me to sign up a course despite me having 80+ sessions to go! My god! I can't believe these people. I flatly said no...none of your machines worked on me which explains why I still have 80+ sessions and not finding the motivation to complete it. I also mentioned quite curtly...I'm here to just finish my course which I know will not make any real difference because I've found the answer to my weight loss and I lost it in a mere 3 weeks. They were all dumb founded! Serve them right!

Good for you FlaMie!
Great news on the size 14's, soon to be 12's.........xoxoxo Cate

Hello Cate! Nah...I don't think I'll hit size 12 so quickly. For some reasons, the weighing machine has decided to turn unkind again after a couple of good loss days. Well, perhaps I'm losing inches now so the weight is stalled for the inches to catch up...let's seriously hope so.

I'm pretty thankful that I don't have to buy that many new clothes as most of the clothes I'm having now are in size 16 except the tops (18s - due to arm holes!). Guess, I can hang on to them still ... but have the 14s ready in case one fine day the hip just decide that they can't hold the skirts any more! Hahahah...currently the skirts are making merry go rounds around the hips...so I don't know for how long more though.
