Yoga

Had a great yoga class today - it was me and the instructor (as usual) and she did a Rodney Yee routine composed mainly of sun salutations (which I love). Not sure why or how, but I felt really strong doing the routine - sure there were the usual balance issues and such but I was surprised by the strength and stamina I was able to muster to get the job done.

The gym I go to has a program called Maintain, Don't Gain that they run through December and into the first week of the new year. You weigh in just after Thanksgiving, and then again in the first week of the new year. The main goal is to either lose weight, or maintain it within 3 lbs higher. They have holiday activities to be completed every week, like bringing in a healthy recipe, or parking in the last space of a parking lot etc. There are also weekly nutrition goals, like eating 5 fruits or veggies a day, having 20-25 grams of fiber, as well as 2 personal goals that you set yourself. The upshot of all this is that if you do all that they have a lottery in which you could win a stability ball. I'm not so much interested in the ball, but rather in being successful at completing it. It's one of the reasons I was so down around Christmas, because it would've been the first such program I'd've failed at. However, when I weighed in after T-day, I was 248, and today I weighed in at 247, so I'm quite pleased that I was able to make that mark. (A little disappointed the 2nd number wasn't lower, but oh well...) Still, I'm optimistic that I can finally break out of the 240's (in the right direction) and am hoping it happens sooner than later.

I am also optimistic! YOU CAN DO IT, Tom!!!! U have come so far already! :D

Awesome job Stingo!!!! You certainly HAVE come so far and you are doing sooooo well!!!!

WTG Tom, you lost weight despite the holidays! That is quite an accomplishment. Glad to see you are better spirits, as you should be!

Thanks again - I didn't go way overboard (well except for the 23rd when I had dinner out with my cousin - oreo beignets for dessert lol), but it almost felt like I did because I had wine two nights in a row (after having had beer on the 23rd). And on New Year's Eve too (along with some cookies). It was a nice treat, but I've found I'm far more comfortable/at ease when I stick to my food plan or reasonably close to it.

well what they were (or at least tasted like they were) was chocolate cake fried, and served with oreo or vanilla ice cream...

Wendy honey..don't think poor Stingo can give you some oreos, at least the kind you want, but they do make low-fat or fat-free oreos...:D

But if she wants to get the body she's after, cookies of any sort would have to be a rare (read: once a week) treat.

Hey I say the "proof is in the pudding" ....so to speak :p

although, shes got ripped up abs...so be nice to her, she's obviously doing something right!

Well ok Katie, yeah that is hot... but I already acknowledged that in her diary (when I was teasing her about the SNICKERS bar :)). I guess I should listen to ya because you've got ripped abs too (which is also hot - good on ya for that).

(Also mindful of the fact I prolly weigh more than both of ya put together *wry grin*)

Wendy knows I get on her case because I want to see her succeed (and well, yeah, because it's fun too :)).
