my diary: my road to BUD/S

wow again. i was having trouble running in boots and pants for my screening test. i was torn in how to attack this problem. i had a great pace 7min mile for the 1st mile but i just seemed to die after that. i could run at a slower pace fine but i need to do it in 11:30 or better. i ran it in 12:30


choises were to run at a slower pace get my endurance up and then pick up the pace. the problem i found in that is once my body developed a rythm for that pace it woudl be hard to speed it up i think it woudl be like starting from scratch.

so i chose to keep the faster pace even tho i burned out. i figured if i can keep that pace for 1 mile i can add to the distace and keep the same pace. which would IMO. cut my time way faster. so today i ran in boots and pants

kept the fast pace pushed it to 1.25 mi. i felt fine. time was 9:43 which woudl put my 1 1/2 if i kept that pace at like 11:30 +or- 5 secs. on the money i need to be at 11:30 or better.

i think my body is just getting used to the boots and pants. i wll do 1.5 tomorrow and i cant wat to see my tme. then either satuday or sunday i will take a day off and next week ill bump up to 2mi.s 6 days a week. i was supposed to do 2mi 6days this week but it was alot harder than i thought. n boots and pants.
 
tonight i ran a shocking 11:34(1.5 mi.) in boots and pants. i swam my 450mtrs today in 10:11 still coming down but ive been focusing on my running more since thats what i failed on the test. so now im 4 seconds off the required time. not too shabby since i was 1:02 off the required time on monday. so one more week i should be well under the requred time maybe around 11:00 flat would like to get it to 10:25 but one step at a time. baby steps tomorrow i will swim and do pushups and sit ups only let my lil legs recover. ive ran everyday this week since monday. in boots and pants
 
i ran 1.25 mi. tonight in boots and pants time was 8:53 im still working on the math but i think that would put my 1.5 at around 10:45 which is great. the reason i am runnin 1.25 instead of 1.5 is at 1.25 there is a sharp turn and i get very un motivated once i get there. i wish i had some one to run with.

ran 1 mile tonght i was told to take a break just couldnt bing my self to that felt so good tonight i had to run so i figured id lessen the distance. from 1.5 to 1 so my time was 6:52 in boots and pants . ive been havng pain after i run it goes away after like 40 mnutes it hurts more when im sitting still if im walking its alot better. i think its fluid building up in my muscles. mainly my calf muscles. i am taking 2 days off from running i will just do some swimming and some pushups and such.
 
I know that for me personally I am not so patient when stretching my calves after exertion. Take your time in that stretch following your workouts. I am at times amazed at how much further my ankle will actually bend. Try using your watch and actually holding the calve in a good stretch for a full minute. with slow controlled breathing.... it will also help you flipper effect in the swim. caviat---I know little, but I run and swim alot.

i gave up the running for 2 days i will run today. i just got back from the pool swam my 450mtrs in 10:07 still coming down just not as fast as it was before. hopefully my runtonight will be where i want it. i am plannign on retaking my test on thursday. i hope i dont have to push it back. i really want to get it done bofore i go out of town on the 12th.
 
tonights run after 2 days off from running my 1.5 mi. came in at 11:05. 25 whole seconds under where i need to be good job me. but im still not happy now i want 10:30. but i swa like 30-45 minutes prior to running so that means i woudl make it for my test next thursday and i still have a week to workon it. i plan on taking tu and wed off form runnignt o let my body recover fully before i take my test.
 
took a day off of running ran 1.5 mi. in 11:15 not too bad but its not 11:05 or 11:00 which i was hoping for. i did start off slower and try to pick up the pace about .5 mi in to the run. i guess i woudl have stayed with what i was doing. i have my test on thursday so im thinkin another 1.5 tomorrow (monday)see what happens. and thuesday maybe a light run in the a.m., wed rest up. thursday pass my screening.

15 sec is decent room for me to feel safe with making it under 11:30.

i will swim and run tonight. im undecided if i want to do a hard 1.5 mi. or just run to run, and do a hard run tomorrow and take wednesday off and take my test thursday morning. i hope my swim is under 10:00 today. it should be.

time was 7:17 didnt want to kill my self today. tomorrow should be better. and i will be doing 1.5mi.
 
took my PST today passed barely but passed.
450 mtr swim 10:52
81 push ups
75 sit ups
8 dead hang pull ups
1.5 mi. run in boots and pants 11:29
passed the run by 1 sec. everything else was good.

then got beat by the instructor wwind sprints, flutter kicks another .5 mi. bear crwls, wheel burrows some more wind sprints and goal line to goal line in the b-ball court down and back 5 times. then 50 8 count body builders.

back form my vacaton.
did a little differnt swim today.
200m warm up
1000m swim time was 25 mins
200m cool down
200m wth very stiff fins
150m under water moviing the dive brick. ( it is harder than it looks.)

i will be running later. not sure on teh distance gotta see how my body feels. im waiting for it to cool off a little bit its 730 and still over 90 degrees (f)

just did a 1.5mi run time was 10:42 after 2 weeks with no running. gotta get it back down but im not worried shoudl be back where i want it by next week.
 
yester day i swam 1000mtrs. with a swim buddie, then did some swimming with fins 200 mtr brick drag. some breath hold. my lungs suck i used to beable to hold for 2min plus not 1min is pushing it i need to work on this. got to about 30mtrs. jumping in doing a flip then go.
 
today woke up took the baby on a 3 mile run in hs jogging stroller. 25 mins.
then went to the pool about 1hr later. jumped in did a flip made about 25 mtrs. then did 175 mtrs CSS to make a 200m warm up. tried a 100m w/ fins hip flexors a sore. i took a 3-4 breath rest every 50m's sisnce this was my first attempt at a long distance swim w/ rocket fins which are super stiff. but i completed the 1000m's. didnt time the swim but i was at the pool for 1hr.
 
tonight i did a 1.5 mi. run in 11:07 it was about 40 minutes after i ate. probably not the brightest idea. i didnt puke. but i felt like i was going to while doing my cool down. and ive been up since 4:00am ran at 8:45pm i think i want to take a day off tomorrow. and start up agian wednesday.
