Mrs Bear's Diary

for a bad day it wasn't very bad at all, we're all gonna have them, so what's done is done and I'll check in tomorrow to see how many miles you get in on that bike ride!!!! ;)

Hey there Mrs! Yea, the ticker does help, doesn't it! And as I was swimming, when I hit the 31st length, I thought to myself, "Coo! Only 1900 more lengths to go!" And changing the ticker was so exciting, knowing I'd done something productive.

I feel the same way; people give me funny stares when I talk about Cadburys. It's great having another Brit on board :) And if there's one thing that make me go all weak at the knees, and maybe even makes me sweat a little, it's Angel Delight (especially the chocolate flavour!) I used to just mix up a whole batch and have it for lunch. How healthy was I!

*hugs* again, hun.

Mrs B - I just wanted to say your binges don't look anything like mine! I so want a smoothie, and don't know the first thing about making them - I honestly thought a required ingredient was ice cream ;)

Have a great weekend and remember, it's one day at a time :D

I also ate way too much today, Mrs. Bear. Pistachios for me and just snacking like a fiend. I'm glad you are not getting too down about it. I'm moving on too....Thanks for setting such a good example.

In case you want to try it, this is what I do. I put a combination of yoghurt, or milk, or both and a bit of pineapple juice (to sweeten it) in a blender, and add frozen fruit (normally berries). You could stop here, but I sometimes add a mango or an apple. Then I, personally, add a lot of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and brazil nuts (but that is for the zinc and selenium as I am trying to conceive - and it does bump up the calories a lot). But you could just use the frozen fruits and low fat milk if you wanted it to be very low cal. I like it because you can make it different every day, using different fruits and fruit juices.

One tip I would say, is that you should put the liquids in first, then add the frozen fruits conservatively. You can always add more depending if you want it more like a drink or a slushie - my usual trick is I add too much frozen fruit and I end up adding lots more milk and fruit juice (more cals  ) so that it will actually blend up properly, and it ends up being huge!!!!

Sorry I can't be more exact but I'm not one for measuring, I just chuck everything in

Pineola, nuts are soooooo moreish, but although they are high in fat, it is a healthy fat with fatty acids that actually help us burn fat, so not too bad at all .......as long as they are not salted :D

Just a quick note first ... the reason my posts get edited a lot, is because I read through it after, and I almost always have typos!!! :D

Okay, as I have three days off work and plenty to do, I have decided to write a list of what I am going to do this weekend, then on Monday evening, I will come back and check off the list. Hopefully this will make sure I get off my duff and get it all done :D

1. Three 14 mile bike rides, plus weights
2. Washing
3. Thorough tidy and clean of - kitchen, utility, lounge, bedroom
4. Dig over garden and flatten down ready for sowing grass seed
5. Take recycling
6. Seal skirting board in utility
7. Deliver Betterware catalogues
8. Make 80s play list for Hubby's party next weekend
9. Not binge after my meal out Sunday lunch time
10. Not binge during or after my party on Monday

A tall order, I know, but you've got to aim high. I am aware that not everything will be done, but I am going to try my hardest!!;)

Good Morning Mrs!

Wow there's a big list! With a three day weekend though, everything is possible. Oo, for the 80's playlist, I recommend Make me Smile, Don't Stop me Now, Baker Street and You're so Vain, though some may be more late 70's. Did a 70/80's based show last year, and they were my favourite songs from the list :D

Have you read the list Avi put up in the FSD, about how much calories you burn during housework? By the end of the weekend, on top of the cycling, you'll be able to do the ironing on your stomach. Wouldn't recommend it though; ouch!

Keep it up, Vince and I are supporting you all the way :p

:D LOL!! Cheers Bronsk (and Vince!!). Gonna do my best. I have just got back from bike ride number one .... absolutely shattered but 14 miles done!!!!!:D

Oh, and number 11 is bake a cake to take to work for my birthday, without sampling and licking out bowls ..... must buy some gum ;)

Yay!! Another 14 miles done! You need to update your ticker missy! Only 948 miles to get to John O'Groats, you're doing well dude!

Heehee, cake baking is just too much fun! I'm a sucker for licking spoons, especially when making gingerbread biscuits. It's nicer than the actual gingerbread!

Hey I see your in the UK too, hello from central Scotland! :D

I must try your recipe for fruit smoothies as mango is possibly one of my favourite things to eat (in fact if I bought one it might not make the 2 yards from my back door to the blender).

Is that your beardie in your avatar by the way? I love reptiles but as far as lizards go I only have 2 slow worms. I'd love a beardie but unfortunately don't have the room.:(

Mrs. B - you have quite a weekended planned! You'll be amazed at how much you'll accomplish just by making that list here :D

Thanks for the info on the smoothies - do I need to put in ice? and do the seeds change the flavor?

Your friend,
The Smoothie Challenged,

Give me a chance Bronsk!! :D . I might do something completely anal, and actually find out at different distances where I have reached in the UK. Who knows, I might be able to stop by Hull! ;)

And Crunchie, if you let me know where you are in Scotland, I could swing by you too! And yes, that is Buster the Beardie, adorable isn't he  . They do take up a lot of space - Busters vivarium is 3 ft wide, 2 ft deep and 1.5 ft high, so it takes up a good portion of the lounge. Plus all the wires !!!!! So, what we did was knocked a hole through the lounge wall into an unused cupboard and sank the cage into the wall. I never thought I would love having a lizard, but he's my little baby now

The link below takes you to a little photo album with some photos of Buster (Rooney) and his viv. Let me know if you cannot access it and I will have to think again.

I think I may have figured it out, if above doesn't work, try this one ....

No ice needed, the frozen fruits work just aswell and give a smoother finish. And the seeds add texture, but they don't affect the flavour too much. I do sometimes have the smoothie without the seeds and it is just as nice. Try raspberry and mango ... mmmmmmmmmm!

Hey again! Glad to see you've updated your ticker!

*gasp!* Now you're properly stalking me! We'll have to do fun local things, like fish walks and trips to the Deep, or try and discover some of the unexploded bombs etc etc. :D Maybe I could swim down the motoway and stalk you first (*insert psycho music here*)

And whilst I'm here, *waves at fellow Brit Crunchie* I like your spid! Beardies are fab, but again space is tough. Ours (Vince) has a similar sized viv to Mrs B's Buster, and even though it's placed on a pretty wide sideboard there's an inch or two hanging over the edge. Such fun to have around though, I love watching him bask :p

Aaaahhhhh!! There's a woman in a swimsuit with wet blue hair coming up the driveway!!!!!! :D

I worked out that Land's End to Hull is 470 miles ..... less the 32 miles I've done already leaves 438 miles till I reach you. I should be with you mid September!! Gosh, that doesn't leave me much time to do the other 300 odd miles before Christmas!!

Today has been a good day. As previous mentioned, 14 miles done today, followed by a few weights. I actually looked in the mirror after and I am a little concerned .... it appears I may be getting a touch of weight lifters neck  . I think that I am just being paranoid though ... I don't do that much weightlifting really. Maybe its just all the typing !!:D

Right, food for today:

Breakfast: 50g porridge, 300ml milk, rice bran, 1 tsp honey and 2 dates - 450 cals
Post Exercise Snack: 20g cheddar (no apples in :( ) - 80 cals
Lunch: 7 thin rice cakes, 170g coronation chicken, 1 raw carrot - 725 cals
Dinner: same as breakfast - 450 cals
Supper: 2 chunks of chorizo, 20g cheddar, 1 raw carrot - 250 cals approx

Total cals for today: 1955

I am happy with today, not only because I am happy with my calorie intake aslong as it is 2000 or below, but also because I didn't binge!! I found it helped to have a carrot after something really tasty, because otherwise it is just too tempting to keep tasting that taste. Plus after my supper I brushed my teeth. I did eat the whole tub of coronation chicken  , but it was a smallish tub. Of course, I didn't have a proper cooked meal today, but I spent two hours tidying and cleaning, and I was hungry when I finished so I just did easy, quick porridge.

Rubbish taken out, recycling ready to go, whole house tidy, bathroom clean, bombsite ... I mean kitchen ... tidied and cleaned. All in all, a productive day.

I love that feeling you get when you go to sleep and are content with the day you have had. I just hope that I feel the same tomorrow night, after my meal at the Harvester  . Wish me luck!!!

Wotcha Mrs B! Well done with today! I'm pleased that you're happy with your efforts today. You've done good :)

I'll look out for you come Septemeber time :D Erm... you may need to wait a bit for the blue haired swimmer to swim up your drive, as it would take over 30,000 lengths to get to you. And since it's only a 1931 length challenge, and I'll be going the wrong way, that may pose a slight hiccup of a problem :p

*hugs dude* Well done!

Well that's poo-pooed my idea :p . I just looked on the AA route planner, and the only place I had heard of that I actually go through is Exeter. Because I put in to avoid motorways to make it more realistic, I actually go along lots of back roads. I did try it going along the motorway, but it wasn't much better and it knocked over 100 miles of my distance. So I think that I will have to stick to my original plan.

And I suppose I should count my blessings, small villages are more interesting to look at than waves!!! :D

Mrs B!! What a great productive day AND you had that coronation chicken :D

Good for you for sticking to your plan!!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Yea, your route is a tad more exciting than mine. I'll see some boats crossing the channel though. And there may be porpoises, there are in the North Sea. Oo, and if it's near London, there may be whales attatched.

Can't say I know Exeter. Sure it's purdy though :p
