Mrs Bear's Diary

Drive by to wish you a Happy Birthday! Sorry if it's belated :)

Thanks Bronsk, your actually early, its on Monday!!:D

So, down to today's diary entry. I have just finished work and I am tired and my feet hurt, but I am determined to go for a bike ride today. It will only be my second this week so I can't bunk off. Also, I know that once I get out there and get my heart pumping, I will feel great.

Good diet-wise aswell today. Porridge for breakfast and lunch today, plus two apples and a small bit if cheese and ham for snacks. Maybe veggie stirfry again for my tea. And I am determined to get a good night's sleep tonight. Last night I was on this forum until 10:30pm. Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to get up at 4am  . Never mind, last work day tomorrow and three off in a row!! A meal out and a party this weekend  . Wish me luck ! :D

PS - My Bike Ticker is at 10 miles at the moment. This should be at atleast 18 miles by the end of today, and if it isn't I need some stern reprimanding  :D

Yeah!!!!! I have just got in from my bike ride ... thats another 8 miles closer to John O'groats. I wouldn't say that I felt 'great' exactly, as I predicted, as it was really blustery and the draft on my shoulders gave me a bit of a twinge, but I did it!! :D I have changed my Ticker and now I am going upstairs to do a few weights.

Next goal is to do between 30 and 42 miles over Sat, Sun and Mon. That is at least 10 miles per day, possibly up to 14. It should be a lot easier because I wont be tired from work.

So by Monday evening, my Ticker should be between 48 and 60 miles along !! I'm going to strive for 60. Can't wait until miles to go is in the 800s!! :D

Your doing incredibly well and staying so positive! Good for you with you bike riding too! If you keep this up you WILL be to John O'Groats before you know it!

thanks for your reply in my diary mrs. bear, it really meant a lot to me

your cycling is great! i'm so proud! i know you can meet your goal for the miles this weekend, esp bc its so true about you not being tired from work! work takes a lot out of me and i'm just standing or walking aorund the room and folding clothes lol thats why i wake up at 6:30 every morning and exercise before work so that i dont turn out lazy at the end of the day and skip off the exercise

can't wait to hear about how it goes!

You're doing great Sue!! Keep up the hard work, and since I haven't seen it said yet, DRINK YOUR WATER :D

Thanks Guys!! It is always great to get such encouraging comments :) . And you are soooo right Summer, first thing in the a.m. is best especially motivationally speaking!

M2M, I couldn't avoid water if I wanted to!!! :D For a long time I have drunk mainly water. I just don't find other drinks refreshing. And it is a well known fact that once you start hydrating your body properly, it really tells you when it needs water. So I always have a glass or bottle of water at my side so i can take a swig whenever I feel thirsty ... which is often  . It does mean I end up peeing for England!!!! (I'm thinking of entering the next Olympics :D )

Okay, here is my proper diary entry for the day.

I felt very tired today, 5 days straight getting up at 4am, overtime, 2 bike rides and not really enough sleep!! Its been a bit of a slog this week. I have not been perfect today with my diet, but I did keep it under control and didn't end up in a full binge, which is sooooo tempting when I am not working the next day. It is a habit I got into when my IBS was really bad. I used to eat bananas, cod, jacket potatoes and olive oil in the week ..... period! I had to eat very plain foods but it was really boring. Then Saturday came and I would eat the whole weeks worth of tasty, naughty food in one night, feel terrible all Sunday (and often Monday too) and then would go back to eating plain. That was about two years ago, and even though I eat lots of different stuff through out the week now, I still find it difficult to break that habit of overdoing it!!! It is the same when I go out, because I don't often eat much at parties or other social functions, especially because they put wheat (which I am intolerant of) in almost everything. So, again when I get home I binge :( .

Anyway, today wasn't too bad. I am going to list my food with approx calories, although I don't normally count calories. I do portion sizes instead, but because I have had some high calorie options today, it wouldn't be a very accurate measure of how I have done.

Breakfast(4.30am): 50g porridge flakes, 300ml milk, 1 tsp honey 400 cals
Lunch (9.00am): same as breakfast 400 cals
Snack (1.00pm): 80g cheese, 1 apple 350 cals
Snack (2.30pm): Small portion fries (damned McD!!) ??? cals
Snack (3.30pm): 2 Wallaby sugar free snack bars 350 cals
3 dates, 1 peach 200 cals

Total calories so far, 1700 plus the fries, so should be under 2000. That is perfect for me so far, but I may have some dinner later. I was going to have a smoothie now, but after typing here for a bit, I realised I am not that hungry at the moment!! The smoothie is about 500 cals (its a real meal!!) so I may have a smaller snack later, but we will see.

No exercise today (apart from my delivery:D ), but I need a rest day before my gruelling weekend!! I am soooooo looking forward to a lie in tomorrow morning

I was going to have a smoothie now, but after typing here for a bit, I realised I am not that hungry at the moment!!

That's an awesome realization... Well Done...

and you may not have intentionally exercised but you do get a lot of movement in your job.. so you get a gold star for the day :)

Hey sue, well done on the weight loss you are doing great. Good luck for the bike riding this weekend, i know you can get to 60 miles! Have a good day!

It is so hard to stay in control when you're not sleeping enough. It sounds like you've done pretty well. Enjoy some well deserved rest.

Thanks Valapalooza. I need a bit of gentle :D encouragement, Lol!! That's they key, I think, don't leave yourself any room to back out or get lazy ... its working for me at the moment ;)

Hey Mrs B!

Even though you said today's not being great diet wise, I still think you've done really well, especially with the busy week you've had. And to keep off the binge is great, I know how tempting it is after a long week. Many hugs to you missus! Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend, and a very happy birthday on Monday if I don't see you.

Oh ... dear... and you've all been so encouraging  .

I have had a bit of a fruit feast. I think I was just so tired and I wanted a sugar rush, but I didn't want sugar, so I had .... 3 more peaches ..... and two big smoothies!!! Very healthy foods, but it is just the volume. I do feel quite full now, not to the point of being uncomfortable but still full. And I will have had a lot of cals. I had probably 400g low fat yog, good splash of pineapple juice, large slosh of milk, 500g black forest fruits, 1 mango, and lots of nuts and seeds. Probably 1000 calories - and thats not an exaggeration. I made and ate one, and just wanted another one. 2 large smoothies in 10 mins is definitely a binge :( . I should have brushed my teeth after the first one, because it would have tasted disgusting afterwards :p Ah, well, I have done them now :D

Although I could get down on myself, I know that this stage of the week is very difficult for me. I'm tired, I've got no work tomorrow, I got tempted. And I didn't buy ice cream and crisps, etc and fill up on junk like I would do normally. But I do think this officially counts as not a great day dietwise.

But it just spurs me on to get on my bike tomorrow and do 14 miles (watch this space!!)

PS - I was so tempted to fib about this evening, but I realised there is no point in that. We are all here to support each other, during the good ... and the bad. Lets hope for more of the first

Look, don't beat yourself up about it. Like we've already realised, it has been a very long, tiring week. No one is going to hold it against you.

Although it's been a binge, it's not been a bad binge, it's not like crisps, chocolate and butterscotch Angel Delight. You've had a good amount of fruit, so on the bright, you don't need to worry about having your 5 a day now.

If your full now, avoid any more temptation. If you feel tempted, just vent on here for as long as you need. And as crazy as it sounds, don't say the words Out of Bounds to yourself with regards to the food. Saying that will make it more tempting.

*hugs* hun, we're all here for you :)

Hey Bronsk, I just noticed your 60 lengths!!!! Well done. Did you find the ticker motivated you to do it, because I sure do.

It was great hearing you say butterscotch Angel Delight (and not just because its my favourite flavour :D ). I haven't heard of half the things the Americans eat and I have no clue what a 100 calorie pack is  . Its nice to have a fellow Brit around sometimes to make you feel nostalgic ;) .
