Motivational sayings and/or affirmations.

Ha ha Athala. Did you know that I had failed my perfect plan already? :blush5: "30 mins each day of "dedicated" exercise, rather than incidental exercise! What was I thinking? If I work all day cleaning and/or gardening I don't need to also dedicate an extra 30 mins to "dedicated" exercise as I'm too bloody tired! :svengo:

"We shouldn't be intimidated by someone else's idea of perfection if it will prevent us from taking steps we actively want to take."
~Jonathan Safran Foer

De-cluttering is now one of my official "dedicated" exercises for 2014!
Cheers & Happy New Year, once again! :D

Occasionally we let our possessions get the better of us, and when that happens, it’s hard to know where to start to claw back control. But with a little determination, you can establish a plan to de-clutter, winning back peace of mind – and best of all, a whole lot of wonderful free space!

My way to de-clutter-
-One cupboard/wardrobe/closet at a time.
Bring everything out. You have to first make a mess to really clean up.
Have 4 boxes only.
1.Rubbish/trash,
2.Re-cycling
3.Give away(to friends, family or charity shop)
4.Keep but relocate to another part of your home.
Each item in every room is placed into one of the four boxes or put back where it was.
No item is passed over.
Each item is considered individually.

Some projects may only take an hour…
others may take days or weeks.
But the technique and principles remain the same.
If you do this regularly you will de-clutter your surroundings
which will help you have a clearer mind.

Here is a great TED talk by Janine Shepherd;

It's 19 minutes long, but worth listening to. :)

Thanks Athala, I have been running short on motivation lately. Loving yourself is VERY important!

if you can do that,
you can make anything happen.”

Here's a great scene from the movie American History X;

[A scene in the movie American History X when Dr. Bob Sweeney visits Derek Vinyard in prison and asks Derek to ponder a question which ends up turning his life around.]

Transcript:

Bob Sweeney: There was a moment...like this. when I used to blame everything and everyone... for all the pain and suffering and vile things that happened to me, that I saw happen to my people. Used to blame everybody. (...) Blamed society, blamed God. I didn't get no answers 'cause I was asking the wrong questions. You have to ask the right questions.

Derek Vinyard: Like what?

Bob Sweeney: Has anything you've done made your life better?

That's a very good question Athala. There are so many things that we can do to make our lives better. We can also do so many things that would make someone else's life better. We have lots of choices in life & it's up to us what we do with them & the path we take. There is absolutely no point blaming our circumstances, our opportunities, our upbringing, other people, ourselves &/or our past mistakes. Make changes to make your life better!

but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame,
diet and in the cause and prevention of disease. "
~ Thomas A Edison

"Try as much as possible to be wholly alive, with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell and when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough."
– William Saroyan, American writer (1908 - 1981)
Not wishing to sound at all morbid, but as my MIL lies in hospital, being assessed for palliative care, I whole-heartedly agree with this sentiment.Live your life to the fullest. Be kind. Life is for loving & living.

If this does not make you feel good, then nothing will!
Feel the joy to be found in nature.
