Cohen's Lifestyle Mee Two Too

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Spent last night getting husband to after hours surgery as well. His flu has worsened and he's getting chills and shivering, sweating in bed and groaning. Luckily he agreed to go. I don't know what it is about blokes and doctors, but find it almost impossible to get mine near one!

Well, I'll probably stay away till next week. This week crazy - both sick, reports to be done and all sorts of crazy stuff. Will check back when life improves.

Sorry to hear you are both feeling so yuk. Hope you're on the mend, and feel better soon. You seriously sound like you need a major rest. (Easier said than done). Thanks for taking the time to answer my post yesterday, it really helped. And it's even more appreciated when I know how unwell you are and the pressure you're under ATM. x

Coming up again, but can't talk. The worst laryngitis ever - have had no voice for about 5 days now. Not much sleep either (though would be welcome!). Will come back and post when sanity returns!

I've had laryngitis once, and it was recommended by the doc to gargle and swallow 2 aspalgin. (similar to disprin, dissovable) They are about $3 a packet. I did this and got instant relief, so we always have a pack at home now. Gargling makes any bacteria in the throat adhere to it, and it gets washed down. Hope this helps.

Thanks - might give that a go. My husband has it too but hasn't lost his voice. The weird thing is that I (and he) have been on strong oral antibiotics for a chest infection, and this problem has developed separately. I still can't talk today - very annoying!!! All I can do is squeak at people, can't answer phone. No-one can hear me unless I am about a metre from them. Oh well, will see what I can do to control symptoms. Have tried steam inhalations and so on, but throat still firmly tight and no voice. Even trying anti-inflammatories to see if that soothes the tissues in my throat. I might try what you suggest and see if that affects the throat tissues more directly.

I really hope it helps for you. Since I tried it, I very rarely have a sore throat anymore, and thats been about 3 years. If my DH has the hint of one I'm at him to gargle the stuff before he gets worse. I used to have sore throats and be run down a lot. Things have definitely improved in that dep. Mind you, I'm not at work now, and that means less contact with germs, especially as we had a chemist across the road, and people would come straight from there to us, with their coughing sneezing etc. Eeeewww!!
Hope you're feeling better "hugs".

Niyah, I've thought of you half a dozen times today & am starting to worry. Are you getting any better? xoxo Cate

Sorry Cate - have been away. We were quite sick first week of school holidays, but gradually got better. Husband had a lot of catching up to do for school, and so did I. Then we went away into the outback for a week of complete solitude. My mobile was out of range for the whole time so we were pretty uncontactable. In the meantime, our son left for overseas (we left as soon as he left!). I was worried sick not being able to get messages from him while we were away, but have since heard several times messages from him, so he's doing fine. In Serbia looking around at some of the old cities.

Nothing to report diet-wise - have to completely get back on track now. Good thing is today is TOM so I should be able to get my head around starting again now.

The dry outback has certainly been better for my lungs - I feel completely well and rested again. Husband has had bother with continuing asthma - seemed to lose his puffers on the trip so I need to get back on to him to treat that.

Busy day today - staff day and I'm busy getting lunch, so will pop back later on and catch up with diaries.

Welcome back Niyah.

well it looks like you and I are both starting back.

Good luck to "us" and everyone too.

I'm glad you and hubby are feeling a bit better and I take it your son is travelling?
wow lots of history to take in, in Europe...I'm sure he'll have a wonderful time.

Bye for now and great to see you back.
Sam:)

Hi Sam! Yes, we both have to get our running shoes back on and get back onto the track! But that's what it's all about - never, ever giving up!!!

Yes, son is in Europe - Serbia to be specific. Has learnt a fair bit of Serbian from patients he nurses, so is interested to spend time there and try it out a bit more. Wouldn't be my choice, but he's finding some interesting things to see and do. Has been in Belgrade and Novi Sad, think may now be in Nis. Back to England soon briefly, then off to Poland. Ditto on the Polish - think he finds it easy to pick up a bit of basic language, and the old patients sure appreciate that he can understand a few things that they say.

Hiya Niyah

I'm sure his having a wonderful time...I travelled when I was in my late teens and loved every minute of it. I still say to this day that it was the best holiday ever. I haven't heard of some of these places your sons visited....I'll have to google them.
Anyway Niyah I hope your keeping well....I know your a busy lady so I hope you are looking after yourself and staying strong.

Sam:)

Thanks Sam! I'm still waiting to catch up again with him - he should be in Poland today, and flying back to London tomorrow. I will PM you.

Y Son is due in Kuala Lumpur in half an hour and then after a couple of hours wait, on next plane to Perth for 5.30am arrival. I'm so excited! I've got the KL airport site up waiting for that LANDED signal to flash!!! Only seems a few hours ago I was talking to him in Prague, and he's done a lot of flying since then.

Good news Niyah. I'm glad that worry can abate just a little. Thinking of you, xoxo Cate

Thank you Cate. He touched down in Perth at the crack of dawn this morning. Boy did I shed a few tears when I saw that plane taxiing in! I can't imagine how you must feel after months and months of this, Cate. I'm a mess after two and a half weeks!!!! Anyway, he's chirpy and feeling fine, despite the endless flights and a run in with an obnoxious customs officer in Prague who decided he wasn't "him". She couldn't see past a beard and chrome dome I'm afraid.

Hi Niyah

Gald to hear your son arrived back safely....now to sleep off the jet lag.
Hope your keeping okay.

Sam:)

I did have a tear in my eye when you said that Niyah I must admit. I'm so glad that he's home in one piece & I really, really hope you can find a little peace. I do miss our YS. It's his older brother's 29th birthday today & I would love him to ring to wish him happy birthday. Fingers crossed. He has been away for almost 6 months now & at least I feel that it's count-down time now. I don't worry as much when I don't hear from him. I'm much more likely to hear when there's something wrong. We will probably worry more when he gets back as then he'll face the challenges of what he's going to do with his life. Everything & everyone changes when you travel & it takes a while to settle down. He does not want to get back in a rut so hopefully he will be able to sustain some sort of momentum & change his life for the better. We both know it can be done. I know he wants to & says he does not want to waste his life & his opportunities. He has such a good soul & I think he will be ok in life. I'll try to train myself to worry less but I do think they have to do their fair share of relieving us of a lot of the burden of worry. We are not Superwoman!
Take care my friend, xoxoCate

Hi Niyah.

So glad that your son is back. Hope you can sleep easy at night. My OS (14) is going away for the weekend and I am a little anxious. He will be fine I know, but I guess this is just the way we are wired! I suppose we can't help it.

Enjoy having him home.
