Marijuana and exercise

THC (Delta-9 tetra-hydro cannabinol) is a neurotoxin, Malkore.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA
Your proof for it beign a toxin is a drug rehab website?
Get real. THC is a cannabinoid that interacts with cannabinoid receptors that are already in our brain. Much like many other drugs, phylthalamines, tryptamines, and ergolines, it works naturally as a neurotransmitter in our brain with our natural chemistry to give its psychedelic effects.

Toxin. Ah Ha. Ha. If it was a toxin, then it would have an LD50 right? Then why doesn't THC have an LD50? oh right, because the amount needed to die from it would actually kill you by asphyxiation (blood cant hold enough oxygen because saturated with THC) before any level of toxicity is noticed.

ahhahahaha
oh, the poor misinformed
sorry i laugh so much, its just funny what people will believe.
btw, white is black, studies have proved it

Fixed for correctness.

hey thanks for getting my back Evo.

damn typos

All I know is I rode my bike a few times this past summer high as ****, and it was one of the best feelings ever. Was I lazy and sloppy? Hell no, I was jumpin curbs and bookin it like crazy. Hmmm, 68 and balmy out tonight...

Go to any biomedical site and they will say the same thing. THC is a confirmed neurotoxin.

You're in serious denial.

I hear ya there. Or walking in the woods high and thinking a bear is coming to get you.

Thats after some purple lookin ****. LOL

ILM the medical community has been pushing to legalize pot for RX. There are some proven health benefits. Tylenol is a toxin, so is aspirin, viagra, lipitor etc. the list goes on. The good thing is THC is naturally occuring.

is the question will it be bad for your workout or your body?

If your worried about health issues then you may fear not for the most part.
It is less harmful for you then tobacco, it contains less chemicals.
But the after that some of the studies contradict each other, some saying it is still bad and can cause cancer, damage brain cells etc while others say there is no damage to brain cells and that it can even prevent cancer as one of its chemicals counteract the cancer-causing one.

If you want to be completely safe though you could buy a vaporizer.

It's actually legal in Canada:

"In Canada, the regulation on access to marijuana for medical purposes, established by Health Canada in July 2001, defines two categories of patients eligible for access to medical cannabis. The category 1 list individuals suffering from "acute pain", "violent nausea and/or other serious symptoms caused by the following conditions: multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, disease of the spinal cord, cancer, AIDS/HIV infection, severe forms of arthritis and/or epilepsy. The category 2 "key applicants who have serious pathological symptoms other than those described in category 1."[52] The application of eligible patients must be supported by a doctor.

The cannabis distributed by Health Canada is provided under the brand CanniMed by the company Prairie Plant Systems Inc. That the demand from Canadian authorities would have increased by 80% in 2006 (the output reaching 420 kg the previous year).[53] However, it is legal for patients approved by Health Canada to grow their own cannabis for personal consumption, and it is possible to obtain a production license as a person designated by a patient. Health Canada noted however that "no notice of compliance has been issued for marijuana for medical purposes"."

Neurotoxins act differently than metabolic toxins. Tylenol and related pharmaceuticals are metabolized in the liver and are therefore hepatotoxins.

Hahaha, been there. Fun times. Although in my case it wasn't a bear, it was a band of Confederate soldiers. At least I had my Union comrades with me.

Sorry ILM, I looked, but I couldn't find any reputable studies showing THC to be a neurotoxin. I found a few sources, one of the one you linked which i found again, and the others were anti-drug education sites. None of them offered any actual peer reviewed articles or anything like that, in fact, not even a single source for their information (sounds like propaganda to me). Nonetheless I won't try to convince you otherwise, because you cant argue indoctrination (I've tried it before, wasted a lot of time)

I did end up on this site which I found a crap load of links to scientific/peer reviewed studies from scientific journals and such with all kinds of sources, but its all about the benefits; that's not what you want.

Still, if you can link me even one site that says it's a neurotoxin and gives even a single source to a study, then I'll stop smoking pot now, because I've been looking for years and have come up empty.
Also, I would love to know the mechanisms by which it is a neurotoxin. I mean I understand alcohol is a neurotoxin because ethanol easily enters and damages cells, but THC only interacts with receptors so I'm at a loss.

Anyway, I'm not in denial. I know everything there is to know about most drugs, or at least ones I'm concerned with. And no I'm not 'addicted' either. I take breaks due to financial and tolerance reasons, its just enjoyable, the same way working out is enjoyable.

Once again, could I ask that maybe only people who have ever smoked pot in their life while working out respond in this thread because those are the only people the op was adressing.

You guys still have Confederate soldiers wandering around the wilderness down there?

We just have grizzly bears, cougars, black bears, really mean ungulates and happy RCMP officers. Oh yeah ... and hunters who shoot poachers on sight. We consider killing poachers a great service to all scavengers ... kinda like a buffet or smorgasbord ;)

It apparently hits the hippocampus.

However I will point out that MJ is not remotely as toxic as alcohol is. In fact, if I had to choose between drinking a margarita and having some MJ brownies, I'd pick the brownies.

Mouse brain? Strange that the article mentions 'neuroprotective as well as neurotoxic'

I'm still wondering though, why a neurotoxin would not have an LD50...

I wonder if rat brains have the same receptors as us, work the same, y'know?

You already know the answer to that question. It's because scientists have been unable to induce a lethal dose of THC in test subjects.

Brains are brains, Limestix. You also know that. And quit editing your post ;)

I edited my post because I misread the article the first time. Also, no, brains aren't brains. Reptiles have a cornea and lens on their pineal gland. Do you? :D Brains are very different.

kakaka.
Well I hope OP might have read one or two of the real answers in this thread

Neurological function is pretty much uniform in all mammals.

FYI, reptiles are rarely used in neurological vivisection for the aforementioned reason in your post.

LMFAO that must have been real good.

Haha, yes it was quite enjoyable, very thrilling.

I would like to come up to your neck of the woods, and we could battle some bears together?
