Hi luvbug - Welcome to the forum & congratulations on deciding to do Cohen's. With only 10kgs to lose you should romp it in. Thanks for your sweet words in my diary. They're much appreciated, xo Cate

Hi, great to meet you!

Just do EXACTLY what they say. Do whatever it takes to get through the first week, which is pretty demanding as you're body adjusts to the fact that you mean business!

Days 3, 4 and 5 are usually when most people feel worst, so be prepared, rest lots, drink LOTS of water, and just stick with it because it really does get better.

Come on here and re-focus if you need to - hearing other people sure helps me.

Once you've been into it for a couple of weeks, it'll all become second nature, and you'll just be right into it and start feeling a lot better.

Tips for first week:

Rest, rest, rest!
Get rid of all food that might tempt you to do something wrong - go through cupboards, give away chocolate, cakes, anything that's "too tempting".
Try not to eat out during the first two weeks unless you can't help it - if you can't, then prepare and make you're own food and just stick to your guns that you have to eat this food for now, apologies etc.
Keep a few of the allowable biscuits with you wherever you go.
Keeping an apple around is a big help as well - if you're stuck, or need a snack, an apple will be quite filling.
Take a good vitamin supplement, also a mineral supplement.
Just do EXACTLY what they tell you - it works!

Hi Cate :)

Thanks so much for the reply and the kind words. Good luck with your first day today - it'll go great ;)

The great thing about Cohen's is that it'll teach me to lose weight and how to keep it off for the rest of my life as well! I have been overweight since primary school. In the last year I've lost 5kg's and kept it off..but it cost me hours of running and counting points. Well, I'm sick of it now lol

When I first read all of the successes of the people, it really looked too good to be true! But I guess it's not :D
Even thought I'm a broke student - hehe - I think that this program will be worth every cent I pay for it!

It's so frustrating, sitting here and waiting for my program... I just want to start with it already! :p My body craves the medicine foooooods! :p

Hi Niyah :)

Wow, thank you for your words of wisdom! It's just what I need to get me through this journey..

I only have 10kg to lose, but I'm sure that I won't lose it very quickly..since it's the "last few".
Maybe I'll lose it in 12 weeks? I hope so!

Have a blessed day diet friends :) xxx

10kg in 12wks shouldt be too hard if u follow ur plan.. but since its the last few.... just stay focussed. Its hard when u see teh light at the end of the tunnel. But u can do it. Gee, im giving advice and i cant get thru a day without deviating- except today!!!! Hahah. Gd luck.

Hello & Welcome!

Hi luvbug,

You are one truly lucky gal. You recognise that you need to lose weight early and you find out about Cohen! Congratz...this will mean that you'll lose those 10kgs in no time! AAAAAA I wish I only had 10kg to lose too...

Anywayz, I agree with Niyah and the first week is BAD. However, having said that, it is really up to the individual because some people simply go pass week 1 with no problem too.

As you wait for your menu, perhaps you could get your body and mind ready for the real thing. What you could do now is to consciously cut down your carbo portion as well as your caffein intake...these will be the killer block to your week 1. Had I known that earlier, I would have prep my body for it instead of the mentality that I should enjoy myself right up to the night before Cohen...BAD!

Also, go and browse through your kitchen and 'cleanse' out all the unhealthy food. Either give them to your skinny friends or you just have to bear the pain and throw them away. Don't add another unwanted kilo to the weight that you've to lose.

Hope these tips suffice for a while till your menu arrives :)

Hi FlaMie!

That is great advice, thank you!! :D
I'm SO greatful for finding this diet! YAY!! :D :D
It's awesome that you mention preparing my body for the diet, because us women always want to "enjoy" our last few days of "freedom" before a diet - thus adding about a kilo to the weight that we have to lose! Not smart indeed! :p
I'll definately start to prep my body for the real deal, starting tomorrow. While I'm at it, I'm gonna cut out milk from my coffee and sugary and fatty foods. I'll through out all of the "junk" as well hehe

I was at my consultant today - she gave me the recipe book, vitamins and program instructions so long. I'm still waiting for my diet though! (the one from dr. Cohen).
She'll e-mail it to me when it arrives.

Guess what??? I'm going on a family holiday on Sunday for 2 weeks! :D
And yes - I AM going to do Cohen's on holiday! I'm too excited about it to wait... I've thought it through and I've made the decision to do it on holiday. I'm mentally ready and I know that the support from my family and you guys will pull me through. :grouphug:
My consultant said that the most important thing is: planning, planning, planning!

DeDe23 - I really hope that the weight comes off easily... hehe

Luvbug-
I don't think I told you. I love your user name. It's cute! You don't drive around in an old VW bug do you?
I feel really sure that you will romp this in. It's as much about attitude & determination as it is being prepared. An old saying that we often use in here is "Nothing tastes as good as slim feels". Whenever you are faced with something that tempts you to stray off the program think of that. It will all be there when you finish & you will be able to make more informed choices about what you do or don't eat & your tastes will change. Cut your caffeine right down before you start as I think that's one of the major causes of head-aches at the start of the program & start drinking more water. Your body will love it! Have a lovely holiday! Cheers, Cate.

Hi Cate~

Hehehe, thank you :) Unfortunately I don't drive an old VW bug - but I'd love to ;)
Thanks for the vote of confidence! I really think that I'll do great. I'll put everything I've got into this one. I've started to cut my coffee intake and I'll cut it out completely very soon. I'm already drinking more water and it feels great!
I'm still waiting for the program - it'll probably only arrive in about 5 days time...
Hope you're still good! :)

Hey there. Hopefully ur plan arrives soon and u can get into the program. I have been on this previosly and lost 30kg in like 14wks or smthing. I was eager to be that thin woman i once was. Iv put on 10kg since moving interstate so i have prob 14-15kg to go. I want to lose it in like 10wks. I realise i have to think harder about time frame as it may not work exactly as it did in the past- just hope t does. Iv dropped a cpl of kg in a few days so fingers crossed. It will be hard for 1st wk or so but then u will be ok. If ur a sweet food person u may find it harder. I am not a sweet food person but i do like soft drink- diet at that but too much. I am struggling to get that down to the 1 litre. Oh well. It will happen, hopefully!!! Anyways, gd luck with it when it arrives, take the afternoon to read it thoroughly and set smal goals, like 2kg in the 1st 2wks and then sorta dont just say 10kg ASAP. Its kinda a wk to wk thing. Or even a day to day thing if ur struggling. Im sure u will do gr8 and u sound as though u have been successful in the past with other things like QUITING smoking so u have determination that not all of us have!!! Keep up the journal and we can all give u sm help and support if u need it!!!

Hi DeDe23

Wow, it would be awesome to lose so quickly.. hehe :biggrinjester:

Well, it's 6pm here now, and we're leaving for our holiday at 3am. I can't wait!!! I'm still waiting for my program..the wait is killing me lol :toetap05:

:D

Firstly, I'm sorry that I can't reply to everyone's diary. I don't have a pc with internet access here on holiday. :)

Okay, so today was DAY ONE. It wasn't all that bad.. I felt fine throughout the day, didn't really feel hungry.

M1: yogurt with apple
S1: crackers
M2: chicken and vegs
S2: mango and crackers
M3: calamari and veg

It's kinda hard to type on my cell (no pc)
Here's to a great start! :D

Congratulations Luvbug on starting the first day of your Cohen's journey. Thanks for posting, even w/o a PC! Cheers, Cate

Cool luvbug...usually day 1 goes by fine - loads of excitement still...so make sure you keep up this spirit! You need the spirit to keep you going on the programme :)

Day two..

Hi Cate and FlaMie!

*Morning*
Yeah..my first day wasn't bad at all and so far my second one isn't bad either. I'm on the beach posting (with my phone lol) and thinking of you guys ;)

Thank you for the congratulations :) and yes, I'm still very excited..I'll try and stretch it out as far as possible! Hehe
I weighted myself this morning and I weigh 63.6kg. I did start with TOM so it must be water retention.
I already feel less bloated and it's only my second day :D
I do miss coffee though..but I'll survive!

M1: yogurt with mango
S1: crackers
M2: chicken and veg
S2: crackers and apple
M3: calamari and veg

I'll give an update later :)

I just had my dinner and it was so yummy. I made calamari with sprite zero, garlic, thyme and pepper.. Sounds weird but mmmm.. I also stir fried some mushrooms and patty pans :)

I'm so glad that I cut out caffeine before I started the diet.. I haven't had a headache yet and I really hope that I won't get any. *holds thumbs* :D

The food on this diet is really great, I was actually surprised! Even though I don't eat red meat, there's still lots of options. I actually had mozarella for lunch :D

:biggrinjester: Yo Luvbug! I hope you have been soaking up the sun there in holiday land!

Ive read you bloggs and it looks like you are doing very well! Im happy for you! Also be thankful you dont have to battle out a head-ache, realy not great!

I can aggree with you on the food! I have been eating great and I love the food choices! I have allot of fun prepating and combining different things! Im also not realy a big red meat eater and keep away from it mostly, but picked up some beef yesterday, just to add some variety through-out the week! The cheese is great Im a BIG cheese Muncher! WAAAHAHAAH!:piggy:

Well, good luck with your day 4! LOL ye I know exactly on whitch day you are! Its cool!

Enjoy all sand and sea! Keep up the good work!
Lotsa greets and huggs!

Day 4

Yay! It's day 4 and I'm up early and feeling energized! It's rainy today, so no sun soaking for me today..
Yesterday was good. My mom and I went to watch Bride Wars at the cinema. The screening was in the middle of my lunch, so I packed myself a nice lunchbox with crackers, tomato, mushroom and cheese. Much nicer than popcorn! ;)

I'll buy myself a measuring tape today to monitor my cm's weekly, since I'm only going to weight myself once a month. (the scale can really break me! So I'd rather stay off)

I'm so proud of myself.. One of my favourite things is a Cafe Latte, and I'm addicted to coffee shops..my mother still visits one daily - guess what I drink? Still/soda water! Whoo hooo! She even had cake yesterday (I said that it's okay with me) and I didn't crave it :D

Starfish - you go girl! You're doing great ;) keep it up! Did you drink a lot of caffeine before starting the diet? Cate and FlaMie suggested that I go off caffeine before I start - I had terrible headaches and one long one for 2days straight when I cut it out. It could be that that's giving you headaches. Hold on buddy, it'll soon pass!
Hehe, good luck for your day 4 as well ;)
*Hugs*

Hi Luvbug. One of the things I love about this forum is seeing others supporting one another. Here you are just starting out & you're giving Starfish moral support. I love it! It makes you feel good about the human race. I do think the headaches come from the caffeine withdrawals. I have my one coffee in the morning & then herbal for the rest of the day, but mostly drink water, water, water. What I did decide is to only drink good coffee & really enjoy that one. In fact I apply that to almost everything I eat & drink. Why should we put rubbish into our bodies? When on the original plan you eat so little so I think eat the best quality you can afford.
Good for you deciding not to be a serial weigher. It's what does so many people's heads in. Learn by other's mistakes if you can. We're mad if we don't. You are doing well Luvbug. Thanks for being so supportive, xo Cate
