Hi

I am looking for some support for my weight loss journey. I am looking for someone who has close to the same goals as me and is using diet and exercise to meet them. So let me tell you a little about me. I am 24 and looking to loose about 100 pounds. Right now I am just working on portion control. I plan to walk after work and on my lunch break. I would love to start a supportive, tight-nit group for those of use needing more support for the long journey. If you are interested you can post here or PM me

Jenna

Hey Jenna! We have a thread under the club section that is about a buddy system. You can post your info in there and I will see if there is someone else in there looking for a buddy too with goals similar to yours. :D

Jenna I know how you feel and I did the email buddy thing a few years and it's amazing the motivation it gives you.If you want email me at <email removed> also plus I'll be in here in different areas.

There Are No Guarantees

The first thing is that whatever method or madness you use to lower your weight, there are no guarantees as to their effectiveness. Just as there are all different kinds of people, there are many different methods.

What works for me may not work for you or vice versa. You have done the first thing right and that is to seek help.

The basics for losing weight are input (what and how much you eat), output (exercise/activity level), and metabolism (how your body processes what you eat).

If you are exercising like you say you are, then you will need to look at your caloric intake and see if you are eating more than you are burning off.

When I started losing weight, I used a supplemental system. After 10 days, I incorporated walking and now I am up to walking for 2 hours averaging about 4-5 miles. I recently started at a fitness club to start building muscle and burning fat.

A good place to start is:

You can get a free diet plan based on your statistics.

thx for referring dat site...

i figured out that i need to lose 5.23 pounds every week.. yeah. i know its pretty tough and maybe harmful as well but i guess if i exercise i can achieve it..

i'll take 1400 calories a day and burn 1400 and my bmr is 2000 so i'm sure i can achieve that...

abt exercise i can also walk a lot ... i'll start walking 2 hrs straight from today... plus cycling will also help...

That's a little steep

However, 5 pounds a week is possible. I have helped a pastor friend of mine drop 20 pounds in 23 days. It's preferable if you ease into weight loss and slowly increase your exercise and slowly reduce your caloric intake to allow your body to adjust. I think if you shoot for 2-3 pounds per week, you are giving yourself a fighting chance to keep the weight off.

Another thing is the time factor. It wasn't until day 47 for me that I realized I have set new habits and did away with some old habits. The main thing is allowing yourself to set new habits and attitudes.

If you don't allow this to happen, then chances are you will gain your weight back.

My $.02

pktull is right, 2 to 3 pounds would be best for you. 5 pounds per week is dangerous... and I really wouldn't recommend it unless you were under doctors supervision. Have patience, you sound really motivated, it's just going to take a little time but by the sounds of things you'll make it!

i am really motivated...

i am going to meet a dietician on sunday to get my diet chart...

i prefer 5 pounds coz i can exercise a lot... and i guess its somewat better to exercise a lot to shed weight than to starve urself...

like i said earlier i plan to lose abt 1500 calories a day(which meand a diff between calorie intake and calories burned) which makes the goal of 5 pounds per week seem achievable...

and u guyz are always there to advice me...
great gob fellows

Remember muscle

As you proceed, you can and will probably lose 5 pounds per week with your motivation. However, as the first few weeks go by, your weight WILL slow down. You will start building muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. So remember to take measurements of your arms, legs, face, chest, and abdomen. Inches are a more true measure than weight. You can lose only a few pounds and many inches in some cases.

I didn't take measurements except my belt. I know I lost in my face because I can see it. I also lost in my arms because the blood pressure cuff fits. And I added 10" worth of holes to my belt.

So, keep track of your measurements along with your weight.

that is an excellent tip..

i'll do that ...

oi'm glad i found ya to help me:D

p.s. what should i do when i stop losing weight even after doing everything right

We'll cross that bridge when it happens

Don't worry about it right now. Just get started and if you hit a plateau, where your weight levels off, ask the question then. Let people know what you are doing and what you are eating. People need details at the time because there are many different things that can contribute to a plateau.

actually i do have to worry abt it ....

coz this is wat happend to me

after losing 22 pounds i'm stuck... haven't lost weight in a month...:(

what should i do????

Check measurements

There are two main areas to check. The first area are your measurements. Are you losing inches in some areas and gaining in other areas. You could be building muscle and losing fat. Muscle weighs more than fat. Check to see if you are building muscle. The other area is to check and see how many calories you are taking in. At a minimum, you should be eating no less than 1200 calories. If you are below that, then your body goes into "starvation" mode. We discussed that earlier. If you are eating too few calories, then bump it up to about 1300-1500 for a couple of weeks, then bring it down to no less than 1200.

sorry for posting late.. i was outta town these last few days..

thx for ur suggestion...

i increased my calorie intake to abt 1400 per day...

i walk abt 2 hrs. a day and i do cycling for abt 20 mins...(i'll take that up to 40 in 1-2 weeks)...

and i'm gonna also start to jog in a day or two...

i'll post as soon as i start doing that...:D

thx again for ur continuous support
regards & respect
