Yeah, I may be a slow responder.... I am not sure. I am getting good results nonetheless.

Yeah, I have been using ketostix, I have failed the test each time. This MAY be due to the fact that I drink water like a camel. I will try again in the morning and see if I pass it.
 
Well these are my macros for the day. I planned from the start to do a zig-zag diet where I go to maintance or above every 3-4 days to keep my metabolism fast. I read this in the book "burn the fat feed the muscle" by Tom Venuto.

So I ate quite a bit today. If I lose another half pound tommorrow again this diet is awesome..

I ate lots of flaxseed today, so I finally got some fiber in... I needed it.

Only 16 net carbs today! If this won't get me into ketosis I don't know what will... plus all that fat.

I feel great by the way... lots of energy. Could be due to me eating what I wanted today, though.

Today was a hardcore day.

I started doing the weight training routine that I mentioned earlier, so I did a full body day, hitting each muscle group. I didn't take much time to rest and I lifted heavy.

At the end of my workout I decided to do 15 minutes of HIIT. I figured that would be a good way to deplete any extra glucose in my body. I haven't done HIIT in about two months and man it was much harder this time. When I started the high intensity interval my heart rate got up to 178... and it never dropped below 157 during the whole session. It was definitely intense.

After this I came home and just played games until 7:00. I wanted to watch two TV programs tonight that lasted 3 hours total. I figured this would be a great time to get in some serious exercise.

During this whole time I was doing some type of activity. I did 1,950 jumping jacks (sets of 50) at pretty high speed, about 50 burpees (I hate burpees), I rode on my exercise bike and also just paced around in my apartment to get some active rest in the meantime.. my heart rate was probably around 120-140 most of the time.

I have no idea how many calories I burned off during this... but I bet it burned at least half of what I ate today.

I drank about 1.5 gallons of water/green tea today. I have no idea where all this energy is coming from but I feel really great... lots of energy, workouts are pretty much better than ever in the weight room...

I failed the pee test again today, but I hope that by tommorrow I will have passed it. I can only imagine that the whey protein drinks i've been having are preventing me from entering ketosis. I will try to drop all sugar in my diet... and up the fat even more.

Need to up the fat, but the protein drinks made my protein too high today. Tommorrow I will make adjustments.

Ladies and Gentlemen..

I passed the pee test! My plan worked! All that anaerobic activity must have depleted all (or a lot of) the glucose in my body and then it looked to ketones for fuel!

I'm really damn happy right now. I even had 8g of dextrose today plus two protein drinks!

Fat burning time baby...

Your right too, there's no way i'm going to cheat on the diet after all this. I'm not missing my carbs anyway... who needs em' :)

may I ask what the "pee test" is? I'm not up to date on ketosis, only know the basics. Is there a way to tell from your pee that you're in ketosis? Does it involve smelling or tasting it? :p

Hey Karky :cool: what's up man?

There are things called "ketostix" that you can buy in any pharmacy. You dip the strip in a urine sample and then there is a color chart that shows if you are in ketosis and how strong of a trace there is. They have them for people in diabetes to know if there are ketones in their bloodstream. I am not really sure why they need to know that (never looked it up because i'm not a diabetic and therefore don't really care).
 
First of all: that sounds awfully familiar, are you sure that's not a pregnancy test? Is there something you're not telling us? :p

I guess because they can't handle sugar, so if they have K in their urine, it means they're not using sugar as fuel. I'm not sure though :p

I'm doing great! I can't wait to get the next set of progress pics up. I am very happy with the results. Since you asked I will put them up a day early... i'll upload them soon.

You managed to lose 6 lbs in 1 week? Hope none of that was muscle, seems like alot.

Whenever I switch from a bulk to a cut or a cut to a bulk I usually gain or lose 4 pounds in just a couple of days. Mostly water weight and food weight. I am looking forward to my body fat test in a week to see how much bodyfat I lost!

I see. How are you getting your body fat measured and who is doing the measuring? Nonetheless you look a bit leaner in your last pic, good job.
