Hi Cate!
Hi everybody!
I had wonderful and long holidays. Cate, the Greece (Rhodes) was wonderful and the weather was perfect, it wasn’t too hot and there were lots of swimming and mainly resting/relaxing with just some hikes and some excursions.
But the best part is that I will have one more holiday!! Yay yay yay! This was totally unplanned, but I could not turn down this opportunity – I am going sailing for 10 days in Greek (again
) islands (have been doing that for the last years, but I thought that this year it won’t happen, but suddenly there opened up a spot so we quickly managed to build up a team, mostly my family (we have been sailing since I was a kid). I cannot express how happy I am!! I have seen and been to many places and done a lot of things in my life already and just a few things can still excite me and can take my breath away and the sailing is one of them!! Especially as I know that we will have the same yacht as last year and it is very new and very chic!! Yay, I am just so so happy!
However, on negative side, I will have no holidays left this year, but of well… about this I will be sad and think later!
That means that my active dieting and actual weight loss will have to wait for another 4 weeks. I’m going to sail in about 2 weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I am still eating good and going to the gym, but I’m not as strict when I’m losing weight. Now I assume I’m eating 2000-2500 kcal a day (don’t know as I’m not counting the calories), but the weight is the same – I haven’t gained anything, but I haven’t lost anything either. Basically my weight fluctuates +/- 1 kg (+/- 2 lbs).
While doing so (not counting calories) I have come to couple of conclusions that I will have to implement for the future:
1) I have decided that I will not buy bread on a daily basis. If I have bread at home, I can eat it all at once, but if I don’t have any I can easily manage without it. I am allowing myself to eat bread just outside home – restaurants, party’s etc. The same applies to cream cheeses although I’m buying lower calorie ones, around 130-170 kcal per 100g. Oh man,
loca easy I can eat out 200 g package at one setting (together with bread
)
2) Again and again I conclude that enough sleep is very very important, now during the summer, the sleeping hours are not as consistent as in winter, but if I haven’t slept enough, it’s a straight line to bigger appetite the next day. So I will try to have as much sleep as possible on working days as summer usually is quite packed with weekend activities and there is not enough sleep possible.
3) I have maintained weight during these 2 months and what I have become good at is – not throwing out the whole day if one meal was bad. If I had awful breakfast, lunch or dinner, I still get up and go to gym and on the other meals of the day I try to eat more veggies and not so calorie dense food. If I like to have a glass of wine, I have it, without beating myself up. If I had a day where I had too many calories, so what, the next day I try to do my best to stay healthy! I think at the moment (maybe because it’s summer it is easier to maintain) I have good state of mind concerning eating/drinking/activities. And so far it works nice and I’m happy about that!
But as good as I’m doing now, I will not lose weight if I don’t restrict calories, so after being back from the sailing trip at the beginning of July, I will have to decide about my next goal. I still cannot decide what is the best option – try to lose something (even though there are parties/BBQ/other events almost each week) during the summer or restart active weight loss in September. I hope I will have a clearer view on this after my holidays.
