Less excuses and more results

You should make your concerns known to the gym. It might not go anywhere, or perhaps they already know and are working on fixing it. But maybe they don't realize it and your comments will get the ball rolling for them to make some changes. Would suck for you to find a new gym and a new routine and have to go further for your workouts. As nice as the Sauna must be, that alone won't keep you there.

Good job on the run and food! Hopefully your day doesn't turn too unhealthy :)

:iagree: with Icy. I would be making your concerns known.
Well done on losing weight over Summer. Do you have a food plan or do you just start off with your shake & then wing it?

Icychic, Cate - Actually I have talked to the manager unofficially (all the staff from the previous gym came to the new gym). We have quite good and friendly relationship with the manager and I was a bit rolling eyes and mildly complaining about the situation in the new gym, but he said that I have to wait as the transition takes time. Today I was in the gym and I already saw some nice improvements so keeping fingers crossed it keeps improving to the right direction. I was feeling much better today in the gym already! ;)

Hihihi, it is not that bad that I am just winging with it :D
I have established several guidelines that I am trying to follow. These guidelines are the ones that have had positive effect on my weight loss previously and they are:
  • eating around 1600 kcal daily
  • eating at least 80 g protein daily
  • limiting white flour intake (e.g. pasta, bread)
  • limiting cheese intake (really struggling with this one!! :blush5:)
  • trying not to drink anything after the meal at least 20 min (helps so much with keeping the stomach full for a longer period of time)
  • not eating at least 2-3 hours before sleeping (also helps with better sleep during the night)
  • and lots of water (I do not have problem with water intake)
Of course when there are parties and other celebrations, these guidelines are almost impossible to follow, but at least I am trying to behave/eat good during the days when I can control the food intake. ;)

During the summer I do not feel the need to eat warm food, so mainly I am eating various kinds of salad, cottage cheese, beans and veggies prepared in different ways. And lots of cheese of course! :D

The previous weekend was the first one in my renewed diet and it was a success! Did not drink any alcohol, stayed within calories and managed to walk more than 15 000 steps each day! :applause:

Good job sticking to the guidelines!! And I'm so glad you are seeing positive changes at the gym. Hopefully they continue so you don't feel the need to switch gyms.

I'm glad you're seeing improvements in the gym already.
Re: the winging it statement- Giving cheek usually brings a lot more information :D
That sounds like a really good plan. I would be in trouble if I had to give up eating cheese. I LOVE cheese but try to limit it by only buying the good stuff, which is more expensive. Tasmania makes beautiful cheese.

This week is going well so far - eating is fine and I hit the gym 4 times this week already! :hurray:

The eating plan for today is:

Breakfast: Smoothie
Snack: post training protein shake - I am planning to have a leg day today! And then Saturday, Sunday will be gym free days! I need a rest.
Lunch: Vegetarian chili
Dinner: Greek salad

My boyfriend is going to a stag night on Saturday evening, so I cannot decide whether I should go out/visit some friends on Saturday evening. Considering the fact that the next weekend I am going for a short holiday and I will be eating out and having lots of wine, then it would be a clever idea to stay within calories this weekend. (My monthly weigh in is coming soon...) Which means if I am going out/visiting friends, there will be wine/champagne and definitely calories will be overboard. Hmmmm, still have to decide on this :blush5:

Don't postpone having fun/living until after your diet. Take it as a chance to practice low-calorie fun-having! After all: that's a skill you'll need if you want to keep the weight off long-term.

:iagree: with LaMa. Life is for living xo

:) Unfortunately I have not learned to be very good when I am going out on weekends. :) During the week when meeting the friends and dining/going out for a drink, keeping on track is more or less possible. But somehow on weekends... ehhh... totally different story. On the party/going out day eating is on most cases under control, but usually wine is a bit more than a couple of glasses... and then the next day I am craving lots and lots of junk food.... usually the next day is the one that totally spoils the diet. :(:( But each time I am trying to get better, in reality it is the same as always... ;) that is why at the beginning of diet/healthier eating it is better to limit my going out.. Not easy! :p

Good news is that I did not go out on Saturday, not so good news is that I went dining and wining on Sunday, had a bit of wine, still managed to stay within normal calories, which were are around 2000-2200 kcal including the wine. But as history repeats itself - today is totally not good :( craving carbs and other junk food (on a plus side - chips do not taste as good as they used to..), no need to say that today I am not counting any calories... I am disappointed! It seems I never learn... :( Today will be no gym, but I will manage around 15 000 steps though.

Tomorrow is a new day and I will be back to my healthier eating!

You are learning, even if it may not feel like it. You'll get better at this moderation thing. Try having a cut-off limit the next time you drink & also have some protein before you do have a drink. Just try it & see how you go.

I've found that although my body SAYS it wants unhealthy food after alcohol, it really enjoys far better something healthy. Alcohol is acidic, so something milky (but not milk, lol) like low-fat yogurt (perhaps put some lemon or fresh berries in it) or something similar usually makes my body feel better. Melon is great for that, so much liquid and it helps the body feel a bit better. Basically I just hit it with vitamins and liquids, and the junk food cravings tend to disappear. But I know it's a struggle! Stomach gets all upset, and all.

Btw, love your username :D
I love cheese myself, one of the hardest things about this diet I am on is not being able to eat my beloved cheese breads!

Thanks ladies - Cate and Nathalie, will try to remember your suggestions the next time I will be drinking :)

On August 7, 2017 I made a mini goal to lose 3 kg (6.6 lbs) by August 31. Today my weight was 79.6 kg ( 175.1 lbs), which is a loss of 2.8 kg (6.2 lbs), a bit less than planned. Unfortunately my 5-day trip did the damage as I regained a bit during those days, but on a good note - I had lots of fun and laughing, wine and good eating! :hurray:

My September goal is to lose 1 kg (2.2 lbs) plus 0.2 kg (0.4 lbs) that was short from the August month, total of 1.2 kg (2.6 kg) loss for September. I really really hope that I can pull this small loss at all, because the September is packed with many celebrations and parties. This weekend I am going to a friend's wedding and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th September weekends are reserved for birthday parties. I will try to stick to my diet plan as good as I can, but I just now that the weekends most likely will spoil the job well done during the week. There is, however, one birthday party where I think I will be able to skip drinking alcohol and during that week I am planning to lose that 1.2 kg, but we will see how it goes! :)

Today I am still resting and not counting the calories, but still eating pretty healthy, tomorrow will be back to calorie counting. :)

Well done on losing that 2.8kg CL. You didn't have to send it my way though, did you? :(
I have to lose it in September as I feel like a blimp!
What are you using to count your calories? I use My Fitness Pal & am CateAussie if you want to add me. I'm back to counting on the 1st of Sept xo

Sounds like you´re doing very well, despite the celebrations/vacation. Maybe try to drink a glass of water for every unit of alcohol you consume as it will not only reduce the amount of alcohol you take in but also really helps with the day after :)

Hi Cate! I am using FitDay. I think I started using it when there was still no App available. As much as I have got used to computed version, I cannot get used to App version, it is not very convenient. :(

Thanks for the advice LaMaria! I am kind of doing it, but somehow it does not help with the amount of alcohol being drank ;) But for sure, it helps the next morning!

So how am I doing now... well...
September has flown away unbelievably fast and I even did not notice it. Besides all the parties/birthdays, I still somehow managed to get a flu – crazy cough and running nose and for a week I was feeling very bad. I was totally disappointed in myself that I caught the flu in the first place, I think I have not been ill (except some sport related injuries) for some 5 or more years. And considering that I am living rather healthy, it was a shock that I managed to get ill… But anyways now I am back to my normal health and feeling a lot better! :)

Due to being ill and not feeling well, I went to the gym a lot less than normally, but I still was taking care that I manage 10 000 steps or more a day. The food in September month was ok – I would say average. It was not on diet mode, but also no overeating. Unfortunately I did not lose the planned 1.2 kg this month. In the back of my head I knew that to lose something this month would be a challenge and would be not easy to lose something this month due to so many celebrations as well as difficulty to count the calories. Well, but the month has passed and October is here!

October is rather calm month in terms of celebrations, so it means that I can put my effort towards the healthy eating and the gym. The initial goal for the month was rather challenging and it is to lose 4 kg, but I am not sure if I will do it cus for losing 4 kg in a month I have to be perfect, only then it is doable! But we will see how it goes, at least 2 kg lost will make my month! ;)

Healthy October everyone! :)

Viruses don't ask how healthy you are: if they can find a way in you will get ill. But taking good care of yourself will help to mellow out the symptoms and often keep you sick shorter. Best of luck with your October plans :)

My September was a write-off with weight-loss too, but without the illness. :( Oh well. Here's to a really good October!

Thanks LaMaria and Cate! :) Yes yes, October will be good in terms of healthy lifestyle, it has to! For all of us ;)

Today I woke up at 4:39 am, on Sunday!! What the hell is that?? And tomorrow when I will have to wake up for the gym and work, I will not be able to open my eyes. As always. Now it is almost 7 am and I am sipping my second coffee. Feeling that today is going to be a good day, even though the weather forecast is not very pleasant. Have no special plans today, maybe go a bit shopping as today we have one of the few days in a year when the shops are open on Sundays.

This week was rather good in terms of eating and gym. I managed to get to the gym 5 times this week, which is awesome and I got in really good rhythm with everything, hope it continues the next week as well. :) It seems that as winter is approaching and also as the fresh local berries are finishing and getting ridiculously expensive, I have to switch my summer morning meal - smoothie - to something else, preferably something warm. I have my morning meal almost the same each day on the working days, it saves time and I do not need to think, so I have to come up with something I like and something that does not require lots of work. Last winter I was having oats with peanut butter, raisins and banana. Maybe I will continue with this breakfast - it is fast, warm and fills me up.

Have a wonderful Sunday! :)
